Exploiting Hollywood 1980

Chapter 25: Master or Fraudster

Warner Bros. is filming the action film "Above the Law" starring Steven Seagel in the studio at 4000 Warner Avenue in Burbank.

The script of this film was tailor-made for Seagel. It tells the story of an American soldier named Nick, who once served in the Vietnamese special forces and later went to Japan to seek in-depth research on the real martial art "Aikido".

After returning from his studies, he was recruited by the CIA as a special operative. Later, he was dissatisfied with the torture of prisoners by the CIA. After leaving the CIA, he became a detective in Chicago and got married.

In the fight against drug dealers with his new partner, he found that the criminals were protected by the CIA and killed the priest of the church. In the end, Nick fought back and no longer cared about the provisions of the law. He became a revenge warrior, killed the bad guys above the law, and protected his family.

"Everyone follows my design, everyone is the same..."

The tall and thin Seagel was preparing to shoot the scene of him fighting many criminals alone on the set and knocking them down one by one with Aikido.

Although the film was directed by someone else, the action scenes were designed and shot by Siegel himself. All the stuntmen on the scene had to perform the magic "Aikido" Qigong he used, and they were beaten to the ground.

"This is the largest traditional studio of Warner Bros. in Los Angeles. The previous TV series "Kung Fu" and Spielberg's movie "The Goonies" were all filmed here. This time, the scenes of the Vietnam jungle in "Above the Law" were set here.

Please wear your visitor badges. We will go in from here. Mr. Siegel will direct the action scenes inside."

A Warner Bros. on-site manager led Ronald and his group into the shooting site. The two bodyguards raised their hands to take the visitor badges from her and handed them to Ronald and his agent Richard.

"You are so considerate as bodyguards. I feel like a king...hahahaha", Ronald was very comfortable being served by Jean Claude and Lundgren, two actors who had been professional bodyguards, and immediately expressed his gratitude.

"This is our job", Jean Claude reacted faster and flattered first.

"After you go in, don't follow me. There's no danger inside. When you have time, watch how Siegel shoots action scenes. You'll need it when you shoot movies in the future."

Ronald told them to learn more, because Ronald didn't know much about how to shoot such fighting scenes. It depends on them how much they can understand.

"Let's go in..." The on-site manager opened the side door of the studio and let Ronald in to see.

"Lebel, what the hell are you doing? I've told you so many times to follow my design. If I grab your wrist, you will fall down. This is not fighting, this is filming a movie. Do you understand?"

As soon as Ronald came in, he heard Siegel, who had a ponytail, scolding a stuntman loudly.

"Mr. Siegel, it's not that I don't follow your design, but if I fall like this, my center of gravity is opposite to the direction you throw me. There is no mat on the ground, it's all hard ground, and I can easily get hurt. Can you change the direction I fall from so that I can fall more beautifully."

"Fuck, are you the lead actor or am I the lead actor, huh? You fall the way I tell you to, are you not convinced? We can practice alone..."

Siegel rushed over and hit the stuntman named Lebel head to head, threatening him to get out if he doesn't fall according to his own way of falling.

"No, no... Mr. Siegel, I'll do it according to your request..." Lebel was reluctant to give up the high salary of the stuntman, so he gave in.

"Pay attention to his dress and the momentum that seems to be sparring in the gym..." Ronald saw Steve Siegel's style and praised him in his heart. He quickly asked the two bodyguards to pay attention to steal his skills.

Siegel wore a black kimono, his ponytail swung back and forth, and he looked serious when bullying others. With his tall stature, he looked like the kind of fighting master that Americans imagine.

"Okay, let's do it again..."

Siegel stared at Lebel until he gave in, then told the cameraman to start the camera, and he wanted to rehearse the action scene.

"A!"

Siegel yelled, and then the doubles came forward one by one, posing as if they were rushing forward to fight him desperately.

"Ha...ha...ha..." Siegel's Aikido was a bit like the Tai Chi and Chinese wrestling that Ronald saw in China. The main force point was to grab the opponent's wrist with a grappling technique, and then use the opponent's momentum to make the opponent lose balance. After losing the center of gravity, he fell heavily to the ground.

Each stuntman rushed to him in a different direction, fell in a different direction after being caught by him, and lost the center of gravity and fell out in a different posture.

Siegel's carefully designed fight is similar to an Aikido performance. Each opponent rushes forward one by one according to the choreography, and there will never be a situation where two opponents rush forward together.

Aikido techniques are more about seeing the big from the small. Siegel's own movements are very concealed and not large in amplitude. This one-on-many look has a sense of dance rhythm.

The fighting in the movies is different from real street fighting. The emphasis is on fighting in a good-looking way. This Aikido master certificate holder is very skilled in this kind of performance, because when they open the gym, they will perform this kind of wrestling with their apprentices, so that students will come to sign up for it if they are satisfied.

Ronald nodded as he watched. Siegel was a little crazy, but his level of action design for filming was still very good.

Several stuntmen were thrown in a very embarrassing way, but everyone followed the plan, so this level of trouble was nothing.

The people in front fell down, and finally it was the turn of Lebel who had just talked back.

"Ha..."

This time Siegel did something bad. He did not throw Lebel in the direction designed, but unexpectedly changed the direction of force. Lebel was pushed hard by him, and the momentum that he had rushed over with all his strength just now for the sake of beauty was changed to another direction, rushing towards the brick wall on the side.

"Ah..." Lebel wanted to use force to find the center of gravity and brake, but he didn't expect Siegel to find it lightly under his feet after sending him to the brick wall. Lebel almost tripped and fell, and his center of gravity was unstable, so he hit his head on the brick wall.

"Ah..." Lebel covered his face. This time he was hit hard, and a trickle of blood flowed from the gaps between his fingers.

"Are you okay, Lebel..." Several members of the stunt team who belonged to him came up and helped him down.

"It's okay, it's okay..." Lebel knew that he was tricked by Siegel, and deliberately made him suffer.

"Hey, why don't you fall in the direction designed?" Lebel was so angry when he saw that he was bleeding that he blamed Siegel.

"Can you do it? Stunt actors don't know how to fall? I just exerted force and you fell in the wrong direction. When you were shooting, didn't you deliberately waste film?" Siegel pointed at him and cursed.

There were almost more than 20 stuntmen on the scene. How could they not know that Siegel was deliberately showing off his power and letting Lebel fall hard when no one was paying attention.

"I..." After being deliberately thrown and accused, Lebel saw that his hands were full of blood, and he felt a little dizzy for a while, not knowing how to refute this bad guy.

"You, Kane, and you, Quadros, do you also want to be like Lebel?" Siegel pointed at his companion who was supporting Lebel, his eyes flashing fiercely. If these stuntmen do not obey him on the set, he will discipline them until they obey him.

"Honey, you are so awesome... Can you teach me Aikido?" A blonde beauty with big eyes, who had no idea what was going on, saw Siegel's powerful beating of the stuntmen to the ground, and came up to hug Siegel's arm and started to act like a spoiled child. She plays the wife of Siegel's character in this movie.

Isn't this Sharon Stone who played the heroine in the Cannonball knockoff Indiana Jones series of movies?

Ronald recognized this woman. She had a big problem with her brain. He heard from Cassandra Peterson, the heroine of "The Ecstasy", that this person urinated in the cannibal's prop vat, which made the set smelly. She also boasted about her "achievements" everywhere.

"Puff..." Thinking of this, Ronald couldn't help laughing.

"Who is it? Who is making a noise on the set? It's you again? Who are you to dare to come to my set and make trouble?" Did Siegel recognize Ronald as the young man who "seduced" his wife Kelly LeBrock at the premiere last time?

"I'm just here to visit..." Ronald shrugged, indicating that he was not here to make trouble, "Well, where is the resident doctor? Should I bandage the stuntman?"

"Doctor, doctor", everyone reacted and called the doctor to bandage LeBrock.

"Honey, you are the most manly person on the set..."

Steve Siegel was touched by Sharon Stone's chest, and his masculinity suddenly increased.

"That's it, honey, I have the final say here." He put his arm around Stone's waist and patted her on the butt.

"Well... who is that person? He doesn't seem to listen to you... By the way, he seems to look a little familiar." Sharon Stone started to stir up trouble. Stasu, who went to college, is said to have a high IQ, but her problem is that she only thinks about how to let everyone know her high IQ.

"Hey, hey, I'm talking to you, who are you? Get out of my studio..." Siegel's male hormones soared, and he came up to Ronald and pushed him with both hands.

"Stop", the two bodyguards found that Siegel was about to attack, and they came up to block Ronald.

"Where did this scumbag come from?" Siegel looked at the tall bodyguard, who looked a bit like the villain in Stallone's "Rocky IV". There are really all kinds of people now, and some people dress up as villains? He went up to push him.

Lundgren and Jean Claude, both champions of the European Karate Championship, reacted quickly.

Lundgren dodged Siegel's push sideways, then he quickly stepped back to distance himself, and kicked Siegel's butt solidly with a sweep kick.

"Puff..." Siegel was caught off guard. He didn't expect that the opponent didn't follow the rules of Aikido before fighting. He suffered a big loss right from the start and fell to his knees, as if begging for mercy from Ronald.

"Puff..." The stuntmen couldn't help laughing when they saw Siegel being humiliated.

"Ah... I'm going to kill you..." Siegel was humiliated and stood up to rush over to fight back.

"Uncle..."

This time it was Jean Claude's turn to show off. He jumped up with both feet in the air, then changed his feet in the air, and performed a backsweep kick in the air... The soles of his feet were close to Sigel's face, and his control was still so precise.

Siegel felt a strong gust of wind pass by his nose, and instinctively stopped, then raised his hands in front of his eyes for defense.

"Pfft..." Everyone burst into laughter again. Sigel seemed to be stunned by two bodyguards and two karate blows.

"Who is making a noise here?" A woman wearing glasses, who looked like the production director on the set, was taking a nap in the lounge. She was awakened by laughter and came over to see what was going on.

"It's okay, it's okay, we are just competing among martial artists..." Ronald smiled and stepped forward, signaling to everyone that his two bodyguards were just competing with Sigel.

"Ah... ok... you continue." When this female production director saw that it was Ronald, she turned around and ran back like a mouse seeing a cat.

Ronald was a little confused by her actions. He turned back and stretched out his hand to Sigel.

"Sorry to interrupt your shooting, we're leaving first."

Siegel quickly shook hands with Ronald and took the opportunity to walk down the steps from the very embarrassing situation.

"Hello, hello, I welcome you to my crew...are you..." Sigel said nonchalantly, narrowing his eyes and looking at Ronald, planning to find out about this person's background and find it later. place.

"My name is Ronald, Ronald Lee. Remember this name." Ronald turned back to the two bodyguards and signaled that he had finished reading everything he needed to see and it was time to leave.

"Let's continue, continue..." Siegel began to issue orders to the stuntmen again.

However, after this episode, these stuntmen were not so obedient to Siegel.

"Do you think he is a master of Aikido or a liar?"

"Who knows? I heard that he got his master's certificate only after marrying his master's daughter."

"Hehe, just bully us with these stunts, it won't be that good in a real fight..."

The bodyguards, Richard and others surrounded Ronald out of the studio and into the car.

"Good job." Ronald praised the two temporary bodyguards.

"Thank you..." The two of them protected Ronald today and showed off their fighting abilities. They were both grateful to Sigel, an idiot who didn't even know Ronald.

"Did you see anything on the set?" Ronald then asked the two of them. Although Siegel is a terrible person, he still has a lot of potential in action movies.

"In action movies, you need to use tricks to make the fight look good. I think Siegel's actual level is average, but the stuntmen rushed up one by one and arranged it. He stayed there and didn't move. The audience looked like a master."

Lundgren had a big enlightenment today. Whether a person plays well or not has a lot to do with his opponent's cooperation.

"I think the atmosphere is also very important. Sigel looks very stylish when he is wearing the Aikido uniform. In fact, our karate uniforms are also very good-looking."

"Hahaha, it seems that you have really understood it. For the next script, I will find someone to start from these two aspects, so that the plot can set off your fighting skills."

When several people arrived at Daydream, Ronald asked them to rest while he called script assistant David Simkins and asked him to find a capable screenwriter to tailor a script for the two bodyguards.

"Ronald..." Richard waited for Ronald to finish his work, then found an opportunity to wink at Ronald, indicating that he had something important to talk to him.

"What's wrong?" The two of them entered Ronald's office and closed the door. Ronald threw a bottle of Coke at him.

"Do you remember the woman who came out of the lounge just now and came over to ask you something?" Richard asked.

"What's wrong with her?" Ronald asked blankly. This woman looked very ordinary, and he had no impression of her.

"The secretary in Rick (Nisita)'s office who was suspected of leaking the script of 'Working Girl' and later disappeared, looked a lot like her to me."

"Huh? Are you sure?" Ronald's voice raised an octave.

"I'm not 100% sure. She changed her hairstyle and clothes to look like a secretary, but her movements and speaking postures are very similar." Richard was always behind Ronald, and the woman left quickly. He wasn't sure for a moment. After a while, he looked again and couldn't find anyone.

"Go to Rick and ask him to go to the studio to identify her? I think she seems to have a high-level pass as the production director of the crew?" Ronald became suspicious. This secretary obviously didn't know that he would go to the set and was recognized by Richard.

If she is the secretary who leaked the secret and came here to be the production director, it is very likely that she was rewarded by the mastermind behind the scenes. There are so many film crews in Hollywood, and she doesn't know which one she will go back to work for.

"I'm afraid that when Rick passes by, she will run away again." Richard regretted that he did not bring a primary imaging camera.

"Run? Running away, that is also a confirmation..."
