Exploiting Hollywood 1980

Chapter 319: Aren’t you going in?

MJ, Calvin Klein, David Geffen and others also took the VIP elevator to the second floor. Through the waiter, they found Ronald and Diane who had returned to the box after dancing disco. Calvin Klein introduced Jackson, who had just released his latest album "Thriller", to Ronald.

Michael Jackson was very thin and had natural curly black hair. His nose was also a typical black type, very wide. Only two big eyes with double eyelids were very bright, and he was a handsome black man. He was wearing a shirt decorated with pearls, which looked very shiny.

"Ronald, can I call you Ronald? I like the dance you just did on the overpass." MJ spoke softly, but very confidently.

"Hello, MJ. I see they all call you that. I like your new song." Ronald didn't listen to black music much, but recently the radio station was playing his "That Girl is Me", a duet with Paul McCartney of the original Beatles.

MJ chatted with Ronald for a few words, and then realized that Ronald was not a dancer. He asked Ronald if he knew the origin of this dance step.

"Is it the moonwalk? I saw it on the set of 'Flashdance'. I learned it from Crazy Legs, a New York breakdance expert." Ronald did a few moonwalks, "The key is to use force when standing up. Their movements are different from those of Soul Train. They move backwards in a straight line. I think it's very interesting."

"Yeah, Crazy Legs? Is he in New York?"

"I don't know. You can ask their agent. They have a dance troupe. It seems that many people in Los Angeles also dance this dance."

"Michael, this is Andy Warhol. I interviewed you by phone a few months ago. Do you remember?" Andy Warhol squeezed out of the crowd and pressed the shutter of MJ with his camera.

"I went to see the Blondie band I told you about last time. It was great. Have you met them?"

"I have never seen them." MJ replied politely.

"I'm going to the Ritz Club later. There's a new band called Duran Duran performing there. Do you know them?"

"No."

"You should go see them. They're very good. They're a British new wave band. They're very popular on MTV now."

"I just got here."

"A lot of people went there just now, including JFK Jr. and Brooke Shields."

"Did Brooke go there too? Well, I'm going to chat with my friends for a while. Call me when you go."

MJ turned around to talk to other people, and Andy Warhol felt like he was sticking to him and continued to ask questions.

"Your new songs are so great. My Walkman is full of your tapes."

"Thank you."

"When you're in Los Angeles, do you usually stay at home or go out to play? Have you been a singer since you were a child? Do you watch movies? Do you play video games?"

Warhol asked a lot of questions.

MJ was more gentlemanly and tried to answer briefly until Warhol asked him about ET's video games.

"Oh, that game didn't impress me. It's too bad. You fall into a trap and can't get out. I don't like it. But I like Steven's movie very much. The interaction between the children and ET is very touching. I watched it several times."

"Great," Andy Warhol wrote furiously.

"What magazine are you a reporter for? I'm Menahan Golan, the producer of Brooke Shields' new film." Seeing a lively crowd here, the fat man Menahan also squeezed in. Just in time to see the scene of Warhol interviewing MJ, he hurried forward to introduce himself.

"Oh, great, I'm the editor-in-chief of Interview magazine. What's your new film?"

"Sahara, it's a big production, shot in the desert of my hometown Israel, it's 'Lawrence of Arabia', plus the Paris-Dakar Rally.

Brooke will win an Oscar for this movie..."

"Oh, Shxt", Ronald thought, this is bad, Minahan is talking about Brooke's award everywhere, and this time he also said so to the media, if the box office and reviews are not satisfactory, this will be bad. He quickly pulled Minahan's sleeve.

"This is a big production of Cannon Pictures", Minahan shook his arm and continued to brag about his investment and Brooke Shields' wonderful acting skills.

Ronald looked around, except MJ who was still listening with relish, everyone else showed a meaningful smile.

"Ah", Ronald sighed, and stopped trying to persuade him. This big mouth was talking nonsense everywhere, and it was probably a joke in the circle.

"Why, is this statement inappropriate?" Diane quietly poked Ronald's waist and whispered in his ear.

"Minahan is a foreigner. If he is not nominated for an Oscar, it will affect Brooke." Ronald covered his mouth with his hand and whispered in Diane's ear.

"It doesn't matter. Andy's "Interview" magazine is quite famous. He knows many celebrities in the entertainment industry in New York. He shouldn't write nonsense."

"Why, do you know Andy Warhol?"

"He interviewed me last year and took a few photos of me, but later he used other photos of me on the cover of his magazine."

Ronald and Diane started chatting.

"Let's talk somewhere else. It's too tiring." Diane was squeezed by the crowd and pulled Ronald.

"Okay, I know there's another one next door."

The two slowly squeezed out of the crowded box and went to a room next door. People here went to see celebrities like MJ and Calvin Klein.

"You said you have several scripts asking you to perform?" Ronald remembered what Diane said just now.

"Yes, one is about a rock star, and I am invited to be the lead singer. The other is about a fairy tale mermaid, but it has a different ending."

"Which one do you want to play?"

"I want to play a rock star. This movie has a lot of room for me to play. The story of the mermaid is too old-fashioned. Bert also said that the ending is not good. The mermaid did not turn into a human, but the male protagonist grew fins and went into the sea with her."

"Why?" Ronald did not follow Diane's train of thought.

"Bert said that the story of the mermaid has been filmed many times, so my performance space is limited. Rock stars are different."

Ronald felt strange. In fact, the performance of movie actors and the roles presented by the actors in the movie itself are actually very different. Blindly pursuing acting skills may not necessarily lead to a higher level and become a big star.

"Why, do you think I should choose the mermaid?"

Diane asked when he didn't speak.

"It's the same old saying. It's not convenient for me to give you any advice on choosing a script. But I don't think it's necessary to pursue acting skills completely. The performance of an actor is different from the performance of the whole movie."

"What you said makes sense. I don't care about these troubles. When the two movies shot by Coppola are released, Bert said that I can receive movie scripts from big studios. There are a lot more scripts sent now, but most of them are small and medium-sized productions worth millions of dollars."

Diane shook her head, as if to get rid of the pressure of being a teenage star and enjoy the pleasure of fooling around.

"By the way, when will your new film be shot? Do you want me to be the leading actress?"

"Haha, it will start shooting next month. But my film is only worth a little over a million, and it's a very small film."

"Sorry, Ronald, I didn't mean that." Diane stuck out her tongue.

Ronald smiled and rubbed her hair, "It's okay, I know you didn't mean that. I will also move forward step by step. If I'm lucky, I can direct a big studio movie next time. I will definitely give Bert the script then."

Ronald looked down at Diane, Donna's best friend, whose face is getting rounder and rounder. As an actress, she doesn't pay as much attention to keeping in shape as Helen.

White girls all have a period of rapid development and baby fat. Ronald looked down at Diane and noticed the rapid changes in Diane's appearance in the past six months.

When Diane auditioned for the role of "The Urchin", she was still a complete little girl, and she had grown a lot taller. After filming "The Naughty Boys", when filming "Fighting Fish", I didn't grow taller but gained weight. Now it seems that I have gained a lot of weight.

Diane didn't know what Ronald was thinking. Her face was a little hot when he looked at her. She touched her hair. The red color she dyed when filming the movie had faded a little. Now the ends of her hair were still dark red, and the roots of her hair had revealed their original dark brown color.

Her heart beat faster and faster. Diane closed her eyes slightly, with some expectation in her heart.

"Why is there a scar next to your eye?"

Ronald found a small scar at the corner of Diane's right eye and touched it gently with his hand.

"That's because I fell when I was a child." Diane was a little annoyed and turned her face to Ronald for a closer look. "Do you think it doesn't look good? Should I have plastic surgery? My agent also talked about this. It can be seen clearly in close-up."

"It's unnecessary. I think it's best not to have surgery without destroying your beauty." Ronald remembered the passage written by Ingrid Bergman in her autobiography, in which she refused plastic surgery.

"I think the audience is very familiar with your appearance now. If you have plastic surgery and lose the characteristics of your face, it will be bad for your career."

"Oh, I think so too. I am a little scared when I think about having surgery on my face. Bert also said it is better not to do so, otherwise the facial muscles will be damaged and some subtle emotions will not be able to be performed."

"Yes, I remember when I saw Johnny Carson hosting the Oscars, he made a joke about celebrities having plastic surgery. How did he say it?" Ronald thought for a while, "He said that he was very happy to see a lot of new faces today, especially those that were retouched on old faces."

"Hahaha," Diane laughed happily, "By the way, my agent said that he is arranging for me to appear on Johnny Carson's show, but it will take half a year to find a schedule."

"Oh, really? Is it to promote the movie?"

"I am very happy to see a lot of new faces today, especially those that were retouched on old faces." In the corner next to him, Woody Allen happened to come out to take a breath. He took out a small notebook and quickly wrote down the jokes Ronald told.

"Woody?" Ronald found Woody Allen in the corner.

"Hi, Ronald, I think your joke is funny, so I wrote it down."

"This is Diane, Diane Lane, the heroine of Coppola's new film." Ronald introduced quickly.

"Hello, hello..." Woody Allen was a little shy in front of strangers, "I have to go back to find Mia."

Ronald chatted with Diane for a while, and seeing that it was late, he offered to take Diane home.

Diane Lane happily agreed. Sitting in the passenger seat of Ronald's car, she happily talked about a lot of things during the filming of "Fighting Fish".

Soon the car drove to Diane's house, and Ronald got out of the car and sent her to the door.

Diane stood at the door and looked at Ronald with a smile, "Don't you want to come in and sit down?"

"It's late, I have to go back early." Ronald looked at his watch.

The lights in the room came on, "Diane, is that you? Who else is there?" The voice of Diane's father Bert came out.

"It's me, Ronald. I'm taking Diane back." Ronald replied.

"Ronald, long time no see." Bert walked out of the room and hugged Ronald.

"I heard that Diane has a lot of invitations recently? I heard from Diane that she has a lot of invitations from Hollywood now, and I met a lot of them today." Ronald and Bert talked about Diane's acting career.

"Yes, it's much better than last year. When Director Coppola holds the premiere, he will definitely invite you."

"Okay, I will definitely go. Bye, Bert. Bye, Diane."

"Bye." Diane watched Ronald get into the car.

"Next time you go out, tell me. No one will be home when I come to find you." Bert complained to his daughter.

"I know. I'll tell you later. I'm going to bed first." Diane went into her room silently and closed the door.

"Bang!" She kicked the wall and threw herself on the bed.

...

"I'm back. Are you still asleep? Donna." Ronald drove home and saw Donna still sitting in the living room.

"No, I'm watching TV. Did you see Diane?"

"Yes, she has changed a lot now. I guess she will become a movie star next year." Ronald yawned, "I'm going to bed first. You should go to bed early too."

"I'll go to bed right away." Donna saw Ronald go to the bathroom and immediately picked up the phone and dialed, "He's back. He didn't go to other clubs."
