#270 - Change 66610

Chapter 267: Change [666+10]

The two stared at each other for a long while.

Finally, John took a step back, pointed at Lance, and left without a word.

Erwin blocked his path, his gaze equally unwavering as he steadily stared into John's eyes, seemingly with a hint of provocation!

He slightly twisted his neck, as if saying, "Come on, let's fight."

John pursed his lips, overcome by a destructive impulse, but ultimately he restrained himself.

John turned to look at Lance, who raised his hand, and Erwin stepped aside, but not without bumping John with his chest.

Everyone made way, no longer surrounding the police officers. John walked back to his car and kicked a tire. "Let's go!"

The other police officers breathed a sigh of relief. Frankly, they didn't want to offend Lance either.

Being a police officer is a truly high-risk profession these days. Even though Goldport City seems so "harmonious," several police officers have died in the line of duty this month.

Some were simply unlucky and involved in car accidents, but others were shot and killed by suspects during law enforcement.

If you can't climb higher in the police force, then being a police officer is worse than washing dishes.

At least washing dishes is safe; you don't have to worry about washing yourself to death.

Being a police officer really can kill you!

Except for the two unlucky ones who were left behind to clean up the scene and were still trembling, the other police officers left completely.

Erwin walked over. "What's wrong?"

He didn't know what had happened. Robert said there was a firefight at the pier, and Lance told them to come over, so Erwin immediately gathered a group of people and drove over.

They floored the accelerator all the way, running countless red lights. The road from the Imperial District was filled with endless curses.

Even now, he doesn't know why there was a firefight, or who was fighting whom.

Lance shook his head slightly. "Two groups of people broke in and even shot at Hiram. One of the groups might be from out of town; I don't recognize them."

He glanced at the driver who was already dead. "Also, investigate who the person who escaped was. He's the one who brought these people here."

This problem isn't entirely John's responsibility; there's also the person who brought the trouble.

If he hadn't broken into the port, the other gunmen wouldn't have broken in either, there wouldn't have been a shooting here, and no one would have been injured!

Lance looked at the two unlucky guys who had been hit by ricochets and were being carried onto stretchers, and told someone to talk to the doctor and say that he would cover the expenses.

After all, he also had some responsibility here.

Bill, who had already fled in the chaos, didn't know any of this. All he wanted now was revenge!

He almost died!

If there hadn't been so many people at the pier, he might have become a corpse lying by the roadside, just like his bodyguard!

This was the first time he had been so close to death!

So close that his heart almost jumped out of his chest!

Those damned bastards!

After escaping back to the Red Dog Gang's headquarters, his entire demeanor changed, and he immediately summoned almost all of the senior members.

Only after everyone had arrived did he talk about what had just happened.

"I almost didn't make it back!"

"Those goddamn Wolf Gang people ambushed me on the road. If it weren't for them… I might be dead by now."

"I managed to shake them off and escape back here."

"I never understood why some people, even though they have many choices, insist on choosing the most difficult one."

"Now I understand!"

"I want revenge, revenge on the Wolf Gang!"

He slammed his hands on the table, his words moving even himself, giving him a sense of heavy mission.

However, these senior members didn't support him as much as he had imagined.

Of course, some were willing to support him, but others were unwilling.

"Bill, we can talk to them. The port area is so big. We can clear out those small gangs, and we'll have enough space to survive…"

"We don't necessarily have to fight to the death. Even if we win completely, can the liquor we have support us in filling every inch of space with bars?"

"We can't do it. Instead of letting those places sit empty, it's better to exchange them for a chance to coexist peacefully."

"War doesn't make money, but peace does!"

Bill looked at him in disbelief. "I almost died, just now!"

But that person had a completely nonchalant expression. "But you didn't die!"

Bill circled in place as if unable to understand him. "Three of our brothers died!"

He tried to awaken this part of the people's identification with the gang and brothers, but that person said, "We'll give out compensation…"

However, some people also supported Bill. They shouted that they should indeed show those foreign gangs some color, but in the end, their eyes all fell on Bill.

They supported the war, but they didn't want to spend money.

At this moment, Bill fell into deep doubt!

Are they really the opponents of the Fiddes Wolf Gang?

At the same time, John, who had returned to the police station, was throwing a tantrum in his office.

He felt that he didn't… let Lance down. He had arranged one-tenth of the police force to maintain order at the pier. He had already… contributed a lot!

Moreover, as he said, that was three thousand, not thirty thousand, not three hundred thousand!

If Lance had really given him thirty thousand, he could guarantee that every police officer would be mobilized, including those answering the phone!

But that was only three thousand. After he gave each police officer twenty dollars, he only had two thousand left!

What else did they expect him to do?

Use his own money to help Lance maintain order?

That's impossible!

As for why the police didn't intercept those vehicles that were engaged in a firefight chase, he felt that there was no problem with this. The police are also people, they can also be injured, and they must protect themselves!

When police officers encounter sudden problems, as long as the decisions they make don't violate the law, then he has nothing to criticize, and many police stations even encourage this kind of thinking.

Protect yourself first, then protect the people!

Besides… John only gave them twenty dollars. Expecting them to risk their lives with the gangsters for twenty dollars, how is that possible?

Lance's merciless rage made him very annoyed, and also made him lose face in front of his subordinates. He slammed the desk hard, as if venting his emotions.

Someone outside the door heard the sound of him slapping the table, and a strong man pushed the door open.

His old partner.

After he was transferred over, he also transferred his partner over. Now that he is the director, his old partner is the assistant director.

He rearranged his clothes, making himself look less like someone who had just been raging ineffectually, only capable of hysterical shouting.

"Whose people are they?" he asked.

"The Wolf Gang attacked Bill, and following the highway, they broke into the pier area."

John couldn't help but ask again, "Didn't our people intercept them?"

The strong man shrugged. "Can you expect them to intercept gangsters in a fierce firefight?"

"If they really did that, I think it's very likely that they would be riddled with bullets!"

John slapped the table again. "Fuck!" After he cursed, he rubbed his cheeks with both hands, then put on his hat and stood up. "Go to the Wolf Gang's side with me."

His partner hesitated for a moment, but still followed him, and also called two good hands.

Four people, one car, and soon the car appeared at the Wolf Gang's headquarters, a game room.

There are many tabletop games here, including pinball machines, which have recently become popular. Each coin costs two cents, and if you're lucky, you can play for a long time.

But if you're unlucky, it might be over in a few minutes.

Many tabletop game rooms have started to place these, and experts say that playing pinball games can effectively help people improve their hand-eye coordination and exercise their reaction speed.

Although it is not known whether what the experts say is true or false, spending money is certain.

The person who appeared at the pier was in the innermost office. "We almost caught up with him. There was some activity at the pier today, and there were a lot of people there. He took advantage of the chaos to escape. We also saw people from the Lance family and had a brief firefight."

The leader of the Wolf Gang looks a little thin, but he is definitely a ruthless character.

When he was in Fiddes, he raised two wolves. One legendary version is that he entered the mountains alone, and then encountered a mother wolf with two wolf cubs.

The mother wolf regarded him as an enemy and food, and then fought with him. He killed the mother wolf with his bare hands, and took the two wolf cubs back and raised them.

He has a very special feeling for wolves. He hopes that he is the "wolf king" of the "wolf pack," and hopes that they can roam this world like wolf packs roam the mountains!

As for whether this story is true or false, perhaps only he himself knows, but there are indeed two dogs around him that look very much like wolves, making this rumor even more true.

The strength of the Fiddes Wolf Gang should not be underestimated, and it is no less than the Viper Gang that has already been wiped out.

Moreover, they came more thoroughly, more decisively, and established themselves faster than other gangs.

"Lance's people." The leader, Wolf, sat in the chair, leaning back, with his legs propped up on the table. He fiddled with a dagger. "So Lance's people are the reason you didn't succeed?"

The guy with the blue pupils nodded. "They must be in cahoots. I heard that Bill directly gave the Imperial District's territory to Lance, maybe that's why he still had to run to the pier in the end."

Wolfe nodded noncommittally after listening. Just then, the telephone on the desk suddenly rang.

He frowned as he answered it, and quickly hung up.

"We'll talk about this tonight. Someone's here now."

He still didn't change his posture, only shifting his gaze from his subordinate to the office door.

Before long, the door was violently pushed open, and John strode in, sitting directly across from Wolfe.

"I told you, don't fucking cause trouble at the docks today!"
