Dominate South Asia

Chapter 504: J-10's first flight

More than 200, Muhammad is not exaggerating. After all, in later generations, Egypt bought a full 100 and exported the production line. This is a huge progress for China's aviation industry!

Now, the relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is not bad. The two sides have the same beliefs and Osama is the link. As Pakistan grows stronger, it will increase its influence in the Middle East. At that time, Saudi Arabia and other countries will definitely be equipped with this kind of trainer aircraft, so the market prospect is very large.

What Muhammad needs is not only to import this kind of engine, but it is best to introduce a production license for production. After all, this small turbofan engine can also be used in many aspects. For example, the future advanced training aircraft can adopt a twin-engine form, and there are also business jets and other aircraft that need such turbofan engines.

Even future cruise missiles also need small turbofan engines. Although this kind of engine is relatively large in size, it still has a reference for designers.

Muhammad hopes to take advantage of the honeymoon period with the United States to get the technology of this small engine. If it doesn't work, then he will first introduce a batch and equip this trainer aircraft.

With the current relationship with the United States, Pakistan can still get those engines.

If you want the air force to have a strong combat capability, the training system must be complete. With Muhammad's attention, Pakistan's main trainer aircraft has also entered a new era of renewal.

Sure enough, the negotiations went smoothly. During Pakistan's negotiations, Nanchang Company, led by the deputy chief engineer, went to the United States and signed a technical agreement and business contract with Garrett. The contract stipulates that during the development stage, Garrett will provide 3 engines and related accessories free of charge. It is recommended to match the engine with the starter generator, hydraulic pump and environmental control system, and provide engine thrust test tools free of charge during the aircraft test flight stage.

At the same time, the J-8 has become an international cooperation project. The first equipment of this trainer aircraft is not the Chinese Air Force, but the Pakistani Air Force.

Aviation technology is the technology that best reflects a country's high-tech level. Whether it can manufacture advanced third-generation aircraft is an important reflection of a country's scientific and technological level.

At the end of this year, the cold Chengdu also ushered in the most exciting day.

The aircraft designers of the 611 Institute have been waiting for this day for a long time.

At this time, on the runway, a peculiarly shaped aircraft was making final preparations before takeoff.

From the establishment of the project to the completion of the overall design of the first aircraft, until now, the prototype has been built and the test flight has begun. Chengfei's progress is quite fast, all of which is due to the ready-made engines available.

In later generations, the development of this aircraft has gone through a long and tortuous process. The main reason is that the matching engine is not up to standard. The engine progress is far behind the development of the fuselage, and it cannot be installed and used at all. Later, due to the introduction of the Su-27 fighter in China, it was decided to use the engine of this fighter to equip the No. 10 project. As a result, the rear fuselage was almost redesigned.

Now, it is completely different. With the help of Pakistan, on the basis of thoroughly understanding the Spey, there are already mature engines such as TF-41 that can be used. Therefore, after the national project was established, the development progress of the fighter has been very fast. The main avionics and engine difficulties have been overcome. Only the fuselage is left. The fuselage has been studied repeatedly since the aborted J-9. The technology has been thoroughly mastered, and the final telex has also matured.

However, the prototype of the No. 10 project on the runway at this time is still different from the famous J-10 fighter in later generations. The biggest difference is the front fuselage.

The nose is not round, and it is slightly flat below. The belly is not an adjustable air intake with a ramp, and there are no six extra sticks added during the test flight because of the aerodynamic problems. The belly air intake at this time is a semi-elliptical fixed air intake! From this aspect, it looks more like Israel's Lion Cub fighter.

The aerodynamic layout designed in this way is of course copied from Pakistan's F-16 fighter to the greatest extent. After Pakistan obtained the F-16 fighter, it was once surveyed by Chinese aircraft experts. The nose of this aircraft can pre-compress the intake air, and the use of a fixed intake duct simplifies the structure to the greatest extent and reduces the weight of the aircraft.

However, the design of such an intake duct is also flawed. For example, this fixed intake duct will greatly reduce the supersonic performance. Although the similar F-16 can theoretically fly to Mach 2, in fact, it is already unable to fly to Mach 1.6.

The reason for this design is that in addition to copying the design of the F-16 so that the fighter can be quickly trial-produced, on the other hand, the new intake duct has begun to blow the wind tunnel. This intake duct is the DSI intake duct invented by Pakistan! Using a fixed structure, the air is pre-compressed through the bulge of the special envoy, so as to achieve a good intake efficiency in various states.

Now, this air intake model is definitely the first of its kind in Pakistan, and China naturally took over the entire set. It turned out that the theory was fine, but in practice there were many imperfections. They needed to keep blowing in the wind tunnel to find the best configuration.

Therefore, the current air intake is just for makeshift use. When the new air intake is developed, the subsequent test flight models may be able to use the new air intake.

Of course, there is another aspect, that is, Pakistan's Tomcat fighter has been tested for half a year. If nothing goes wrong, it should be finalized and equipped with the Pakistan Air Force within two years.

At the same time, China can also start manufacturing this advanced variable-sweep wing fighter at the same time. When the No. 10 project was just established, it was designed according to the air superiority fighter, targeting the advanced fighters such as the Su-27 and MiG-29 of the Soviet Union in the north. Now, China can obtain excellent heavy air superiority fighters. The mission of the No. 10 aircraft has changed from seizing air superiority to a multi-functional fighter. Therefore, the requirement for speed is not as urgent as before. It is similar to the low-end aircraft in the high-low combination of the US F-15 and F-16. It needs to be cheap and can be replaced in large quantities.

Despite this, this new fighter is still the pride of all Chengfei employees. At this time, the chief designer of the aircraft, Mr. Song, who is almost 60 years old, stood here and looked at the aircraft with excitement.

"Yang Wei, are you confident?" Mr. Song said to the flight control designer Yang Wei beside him.

This aircraft has no mechanical backup at all. If the fly-by-wire system fails, it will be troublesome.

"Mr. Song, please rest assured. We have conducted many tests on the iron bird and conducted perfect tests on the Pakistani Tomcat fighter. The reliability of all the components of the fly-by-wire system can meet the needs, and the software has been fully optimized. I believe that you will not be disappointed." Yang Wei said confidently.

After staying in Pakistan for a while, the newly manufactured Tomcat fighter in Pakistan was very perfect in terms of fly-by-wire control, which also gave Yang Wei great confidence. He believed that his own aircraft would never fail in flight control.

"Okay, then I'm relieved." Mr. Song said, unconsciously, he felt that his hands seemed to be shaking slightly.

This plane is just a beginning. When this plane completes the test flight, he will lead the scientific researchers to continue the development of the next model. At this time, it is still a more confidential project, that is, the stealth aircraft!

"Qiangzi, how do you feel?" In the eyes of everyone, test pilot Lei Qiang walked towards the plane. He was wearing an orange anti-gravity suit and his face was red.

Seeing him like this, the political commissar of the test flight brigade couldn't help asking: "Do you want to measure your blood pressure?"

Lei Qiang shook his head and continued to move forward. The political commissar grabbed his hand and found that his pulse was beating rapidly at this time, almost 150!

Lei Qiang continued to move forward, climbed the gangway, and entered the cockpit. When he closed the hatch, he saw the political commissar below with tears in his eyes.

In any case, this is China's first brand-new fighter after all! It is different from the aerodynamic layout of previous fighters, and it still uses fly-by-wire control! If there is a malfunction, people may not be able to come back!

Even if I die, I have to fly the plane back! When turning on various switches and preparing for takeoff, Lei Qiang's brain immediately woke up. They have been waiting for this day for a long time!

The roar of the engine came from behind, and the mature TF-41 engine had started. Lei Qiang's voice became steady: "001 request to take off!"

After receiving the order from the tower, Lei Qiang released the brakes and the fighter plane quickly taxied on the runway.

After flying only 400 meters, Lei Qiang gently pulled the joystick back, the front landing gear left the ground, the nose lifted up, and then flew for another second, and the main landing gear followed.

This is an agile fighter! Using the canard layout, positive lift is obtained, the instantaneous pointing ability of the nose is very high, and the takeoff is also quite neat! The J-7 needs a runway of more than 1,000 meters to take off, and now, it has taken off in less than 500 meters! If the afterburner is turned on, maybe a runway of more than 300 meters can make it fly!

There was jubilation on the ground, Unit 10 finally took off! (To be continued ~^~)
