Demon Hunter: School of the Wolf

Chapter 148 Castle Ruins

"Master Vesemir, those three knights have been following us for a long time."

Arryn rides "Carrot" and approaches Vesemir.

Not long after coming out of the hotel, the two demon hunters noticed the three king's personal guards.

Rather than saying they were following Aylin and the others, they were more openly provoking.

With no cover at all, Aelin and Vesemir sped up, and they also rode up and sped up.

It fell behind them, keeping a distance of about twenty meters.

"Yeah, I know."

It must be Bob and Mary's unusual behavior that aroused suspicion... Vesemir looked solemn.

The three human knights have nothing to be afraid of. The trouble is that if they are not careful, they may attract the attention of the king and the wizard.

But the more people are suspected, the less guilty they can be at this time.

"The destination remains unchanged. When asked, I said that I have accepted a commission. I will first explore the terrain of the castle and prepare to get rid of the resentful spirits in the castle."

Vesemir said softly, then pulled the reins and stopped the horse.

Aylin nodded slightly.

The three knights behind him slowly followed.

"Why are you following us?" Vesemir asked.

The middle-aged knight did not answer, but raised his head and asked, "Where are you going?"

"In Viscount Hudson's castle, someone commissioned us to get rid of the demons in the castle." Vesemir said expressionlessly.

"Viscount Hudson?" The middle-aged knight frowned upon hearing this.

He is a noble from the northern part of the kingdom. He received the king's order just half a month ago to come to Ben Ad to capture the wandering elves.

But even so, out of caution, he investigated the nobles nearby, but he never heard of any viscount named Hudson nearby?

"It's the castle on the hill. The owner before it was abandoned was Viscount Hudson."

The knight on the side came up and whispered, and after a pause, he explained:

"He is the Viscount of our Val family. His whole family was burned to death in a fire ten years ago."

Abandoned for ten years? The middle-aged knight glanced at him in surprise.

Due to years of war, Kaedwen has many abandoned castles.

But usually within one or two years, heirs will be found in their respective family branches...

The middle-aged knight glanced at the Val family knight again.

What a coincidence. When I was doing a mission nearby, I happened to have a member of the Val family transferred from the king's personal guard.

The noble intuition made him realize that there was a pit here, and he instinctively wanted to retreat.

But……

"That ghost castle? Captain, we can just go with you! That's the place where elves are most likely to be hiding nearby." Another knight also came over and suggested.

The middle-aged knight's retreat was blocked.

When it comes to the king's tasks, it is impossible for the middle-aged knight to escape.

He sighed inwardly and said with a straight face: "Demon hunter, don't play tricks. We will follow you all the way to investigate the viscount's castle."

"The situation in the castle is unknown. I also have an apprentice with me. I'm afraid there is no way to guarantee your safety." Vesemir reluctantly advised.

After the middle-aged knight made up his mind, how could he be ignored by such an excuse?

But there is no need for him to speak.

Vesemir's advice sounded more like contempt to the young and energetic knight on the side:

"Don't worry! The king's bodyguard has the best knights in Kaedwen, and Captain Serio was the swordsman champion the year before last. They will definitely be able to protect your little apprentice, the demon hunter!"

As he spoke, the young knight patted the sword on his waist.

Vesemir glanced at Aelin and could only agree reluctantly.

But this didn't have any impact. Originally, they just went to explore the situation in the afternoon, and the commission they received from Bob and Mary was indeed to eliminate the demon spirits.

They also tell the truth.

"Bowen, you go to the mayor and record our itinerary. We will wait for you at the gate of the castle."

The middle-aged knight tilted his head and ordered expressionlessly.

The Val family knight named Bowen hesitated. After taking a look at the middle-aged knight, he reluctantly tightened the reins and rode towards the Orchard.

Before leaving, he glared at Vesemir angrily, as if the mission for him to leave was given by the master witcher.

"Let's go, witcher."

The middle-aged knight looked away and ordered in a cold tone.

"Don't order me! I'm not your soldier, knight!"

Vesemir complained, then crossed his legs and sped towards the Viscount's castle.

Dry ditches, stone roads overgrown with weeds, and dark and collapsed castle walls.

"Gah~gah~"

On the dry branches, the red eyes of the pitch-black crow stared intently at the few people who broke into the secluded place.

This is a castle and it is in ruins.

After passing through the crooked city gate, Vesemir's mood has been low.

It’s not just strength and magic that make witchers different from ordinary people.

Their brains have also been transformed by dream trials.

The older and more powerful a witcher is, the better his memory is.

"Have you been here?"

The middle-aged knight's words interrupted Aylin's reverie.

When Vesemir heard the knight's words, he was stunned for a moment and did not try to hide it: "Yes, I was here fifteen years ago."

"Viscount Huxon is my friend, a very good friend."

"Fifteen years?" The three knights were a little surprised.

"They are indeed a group of monsters..." the young knight named Bowen whispered.

But at such a volume, even the two humans next to him could hear it, so there was obviously no intention to avoid it.

But Vesemir didn't react, and he didn't know what he was thinking.

Aylin's mood was a little solemn.

Although dissatisfaction with the witchers has not yet completely spread among the common people, the new generation of Kaedwen knights seem to have fully accepted these slanders.

Is this sign due to the king's deliberate propaganda, or is it due to the crazy behavior of the Cat School?

Aylin thought for a while and denied the luck deep in his heart.

I can no longer paralyze myself. The King's Guards can be said to be the aristocratic group closest to the King, and to some extent they are even the vane of the royal family's attitude.

These knights must be so hostile to the witcher, there must be the king's instructions, or at least a hint.

Otherwise, as the Wolf School is an institution funded by the king, how could these knights dare to slander the witcher in front of them when the king's attitude is not yet determined.

Aren't you afraid that Aylin and the others might mention it in front of the king during the Apprentice Competition?

"Da~da~da~"

Under the heavy footsteps, Aylin's mood became heavier.

The hope of winning over the king is getting slimmer, and the danger of Kaer Morhen's destruction is getting closer.

In a depressed mood, even the surrounding environment seemed to become colder.

wrong!

Why does it suddenly become cold when the sun shines on you?

He looked at the clear shadow cast on the ground, his heart beating violently with a strong sense of crisis.

"Buzz~"

The wolf emblem suddenly buzzed.
