Colonial Suit

#836 - Rhea's warning!

"Who are you?" Li'er's pupils contracted sharply as she asked, alert.

The name War Matriarch had been absent from her life for a long time. The last time it appeared was only in a dream.

A secret buried deep in her heart.

"Heh..." Rhea chuckled. He said to Li'er, "This isn't our first meeting... if I recall correctly, it was at Marsus's bar. You drank quite a bit that day..."

"It's you!?" Li'er immediately reacted, recalling the man who had triggered her Matriarch dream. "You're the bartender?"

Rhea nodded with a smile. "I often need to appear with various identities. Bartender is a pretty good one..."

"But I don't think it's very good. People who hide their heads and tails are never liked," Li'er replied coldly, gently raising a finger. "You gave me a bad memory. False and meaningless."

"Whether it's false or not, I think only you know," Rhea sighed, not caring about the faint flames flickering on Li'er's finger. "Also, I suggest you don't use that finger on me. I'm not your enemy."

"Who knows?" The corners of Li'er's lips curved slightly, the coldness in her eyes intensifying. "How can I trust someone who can't even clearly state their identity?"

"Trust takes time to build, my dear Maria," Rhea said softly. Then, ignoring Li'er's hostility, he walked to the side of the room and sat down on the sofa.

He casually picked up the wine bottle next to him, flicked off the cap with a finger, and raised it towards Li'er.

"Care for a drink?"

"I don't like to drink," Li'er said indifferently. The flames on her finger disappeared. "Especially after drinking your wine."

"Oh, that's a pity," Rhea shook his head and poured himself a glass.

Strangely enough, the wine was clear and colorless, but it began to spin rapidly as it fell into the glass, quickly turning into an agate-like color, slightly viscous, and emitting a mellow aroma.

Li'er's expression immediately changed. She remembered that this was the same wine Rhea had given her at Marsus's.

Poison.

Years of life, like poison.

Time is poisonous.

Li'er clearly remembered that it was this glass of wine that had caused her to have that dream. The shattered starry sky, the brave conquerors, a world composed of wise and determined strategists. There, she had once been a planet, a powerful war weapon, and had even delved into the untouched abyss.

As Rhea said, only she herself knew whether it was false or not.

In the past, Li'er would have probably dismissed that dream as a joke. But as she experienced more and more, and knew more and more, she realized that it was probably not a joke, but a fact.

Just like... Blood瞳's other identity.

The atmosphere in the room froze. After an unknown amount of time, Li'er finally relaxed her expression and sat down opposite Rhea.

"Alright, give me a glass too."

"That's the right attitude," Rhea smiled slightly and poured Li'er a glass, pushing it in front of her.

Looking at the agate-like wine in the glass, Li'er's eyes became lost.

It was this kind of wine. This time, would she sink into a dream again and return to that tragic starry sky?

The crystal glass approached Li'er's red lips, and she took a small sip.

Nothing happened.

The wine was sweet, mellow, and had a rich, deep flavor. It felt warm in her stomach, but other than tasting good, there were no other abnormalities. Li'er gently swirled the glass, her gaze gradually clearing.

"This isn't the same wine as last time."

"Poison isn't so delicious. Your last glass was worth three planets," Rhea replied with a smile. "But this glass isn't bad either. You'll feel it."

"What do you mean?"

"Its name is Eternity," Rhea's gaze gradually deepened, as if he could see through Li'er's heart. "It will awaken what belongs to you."

"What!?" Li'er was stunned. Just as she was about to speak, she suddenly felt as if her body was burning. A scorching sensation swept through her entire body, even with a faint hint of pain.

Her expression immediately changed. "What exactly did you give me to drink?"

"You'll know," Rhea remained calm and composed, sipping the wine in his glass. "But not now."

"Don't worry, it won't harm you. The power of Eternity needs time to savor. Right now, it can only lay a little foundation for you."

As he spoke, Li'er felt the burning sensation begin to fade, and something seemed to have appeared in her body. She couldn't exactly describe what it was, but she vaguely felt that it was very important and very compatible with her. At the same time, the dormant bio-energy pool actually began to operate on its own, generating a large amount of energy in just a few breaths, which was completely absorbed by that thing in an instant.

Li'er's expression was not good, after all, no one would be happy to be suddenly ambushed. Moreover, this bandaged man was so strange.

In silence, a terrifying aura descended upon the room, and Li'er's body began to burn with faint flames.

"I need an explanation."

She said, raising her finger little by little.

"Or you'll pay the price."

"You won't hurt me," Rhea was still so leisurely, drinking his wine. "Because we're not enemies."

As he spoke, his body shifted between reality and illusion, and he suddenly lost his sense of presence. Even though he was sitting in front of Li'er, she felt as if he didn't exist at all. A cold light flashed in Li'er's eyes. Her thoughts directly pierced into the subspace, but she still couldn't sense Rhea's existence.

She then realized that this mysterious man probably possessed a power that even she couldn't reach.

"What is this?"

"Just a wisp of divine thought," Rhea replied with a smile. But a trace of sadness flashed in his eyes. "My last bit of strength. Seems to be quite useful."

As he said this, he drained the wine in front of him and put it down with satisfaction. "Alright, enough nonsense. This time I came not only to give you that glass of wine but also to tell you something."

"What is it?" Li'er said in a deep voice, her expression even uglier.

Rhea's actions made her feel a sense of inexplicable and uncontrollable frustration, which made her very uncomfortable. As the queen of the Mutants, Li'er hadn't felt this loss of control for a long time. But since Rhea displayed a strength that even Li'er had to be wary of, she could only listen.

"It's about your participation in the ritual this time," Rhea lowered his eyes, looking at the empty wine glass in front of him. His voice grew softer and softer.

"You will participate as a member of the Kree and Motar tribes. But in reality, you are the sacrifice they have prepared. They will obtain some quotas to enter the Second World through sacrifice. You will also enter with them. But don't worry, sacrifices don't necessarily have to be consumed. You are important, but only because of your identity and the person standing behind you."

"They don't know your true nature."

"However, if you enter the Second World, you must be careful. Because there, you may be exposed."

Speaking of this, Rhea suddenly raised his head, a flash of bone-piercing light in his eyes.

"Be careful of the Boca Civilization! Never be touched by their 'light'!" (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to vote for recommendations and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation..)
