Colonial Suit

#793 - Residents of the Throne

This was a very peculiar city. In subspace, it was a perfect sphere.

A transparent shield formed the outer membrane of the sphere, and then, using the center of the sphere as a boundary, a visible partition appeared. This partition formed the ground, and the city was built on this partition, extending both upwards and downwards.

The advantage of this layout was that it maximized space. The disadvantage was the lack of a sense of direction. Fortunately, with artificial gravity, this difference was easily overlooked. The inner membrane of the sphere had mysterious celestial control devices, creating the sun, moon, stars, and the cycle of day and night that humans were accustomed to, thus forming a space suitable for human habitation.

When the upper half of the city entered daylight, the lower half was in darkness.

Blood瞳 had no doubt that this sphere shielded the repulsive force of subspace rules, thus carving out a habitat that belonged only to humans. However, due to the unpredictability of subspace, its overall position could not be anchored.

In other words, no one could determine its exact coordinates, thus directly penetrating it from the outside.

The shuttle began to vibrate violently, and the outer shield rapidly disintegrated under the repulsive force of subspace. Soon, it reached the armored layer. Just then, a golden light suddenly shot out from the city, connecting and enveloping the shuttle. Then, all repulsive force disappeared without a trace.

Guided by the golden light, the shuttle approached the city and entered the upper spaceport.

From this angle, it could be seen that it was just dawn in the city, and countless figures were waking up from their sleep, starting their day's work. The streets were already filled with busy traffic. Flying cars shuttled through the sky, whistling past.

Greeting Blood瞳 and the others was an ordinary person, who appeared to be a service worker from the spaceport.

"Lord Ganze, welcome to headquarters. This is Spaceport One. Jerryfin is at your service. The council is still asleep. Councilor Sal Jones has asked you to stay temporarily at No. s119, Second Residential District. Someone will be here to guide you soon."

"Understood," Ganze replied readily, then gestured for Blood瞳 to follow.

He was not visiting the headquarters for the first time, so he could be considered half a host here.

Blood瞳 nodded, leading Qingyue and Meiding behind him.

Strangely, as the pinnacle of human civilization, the technology here was far less impressive than that of the Third World, including the architecture, civilian facilities, and even the spaceships. Many were still in the style of the Fifth World, with few even from the Fourth World. Only the countless mysterious lines spread across the sky indicated to everyone that this was no longer ordinary human realm.

"This is because normal technology is difficult to use effectively in subspace, and it can cause unpredictable results," Ganze explained, seemingly knowing what Blood瞳 was thinking. "The sky you see was constructed by the two Sovereigns. But we can't let the Sovereigns take care of everything, can we? So in daily life, we try to use some ancient facilities that won't trigger the repulsive force of subspace, to reduce consumption."

As he spoke, Ganze opened the door of a flying car that was already parked beside them. "Please, we still have a way to go. I remind you, don't use your abilities lightly here. And don't fight easily, or you'll be in trouble."

"Understood," Blood瞳 did not ask what kind of trouble. But he could imagine some of it.

Being able to penetrate subspace was one thing, but being able to reside in subspace permanently was another. There must be many taboos in this city that he couldn't even begin to comprehend.

The journey to their lodging was a bit far. Along the way, Blood瞳 leaned against the window, admiring the scenery.

He saw many 'ancient' buildings and lifestyles, and a primitive 'farm' model. This was a strange 'farm' that used overlapping, layered planting methods. Hundreds and thousands of 'artificial plots' were stacked very high. People were working on each layer of the plot, simply cultivating the soil and sowing seeds, then watering and fertilizing them. They could be harvested in an hour. It was amazingly fast, and the yield was even more astonishing.

"Affected by the attenuation of subspace, crops here mature very quickly, so planting is easy. Just harvest them before they rot," Ganze explained. "We use some of our unique technologies here, allowing us to produce enough food for the entire city with only a little land. Of course, fertilizer and nutrients must be sufficient."

"The same goes for animal husbandry. For most livestock, time is unfair here. One minute for us may be a day, a month, or even a year for them."

"Why does this happen?"

"One is because of the influence of subspace, and the other is because it is the Sovereign's creation," Ganze replied. "Don't you understand? For everything here, the Sovereign is God. He can change the ratio of time and space. He can also change many things we can't imagine. What is the rapid maturation of crops? If they want to, they can even make us eternally young, or die of old age in the next moment."

"Everything is rules. But not the rules of normal space, but the rules of subspace."

"The rules of subspace!?" Blood瞳's pupils suddenly contracted.

As everyone knows, the evolution of cosmic warriors is the understanding and utilization of rules. But everything happens in normal space, that is, the scope of the normal universe. This has become common sense for many cosmic warriors, and it is the foundation of their constant evolution and effort.

But why, when it came to the Sovereign's stage, did they instead master the rules of subspace?

Could it be that the evolutionary limit of the normal universe is the stellar level?

Blood瞳 thought silently, but couldn't figure it out no matter what. At this time, he discovered another thing. That was, most of the people living in this city were actually ordinary people. There were surprisingly few cosmic warriors.

"Why is this?"

"They are the descendants of cosmic warriors," Ganze replied. "You don't think that only the strong are qualified to set foot on this land, do you?"

"In fact, our human growth is too late. Even with endless sacrifices and dedication, we lack the foundation compared to the ancient cosmic nobles. Being able to achieve today's level is all paved by the blood and bones of countless predecessors. So, in order to commend their achievements, all descendants of cosmic warriors who have made contributions will be brought here, given the best education and resources, and allowed to grow rapidly."

"We don't have many high-end combat forces, and most of them have been sent out. So naturally, they are left here."

"This is the responsibility and obligation of the Mercenary Headquarters. If one day you also die in a mission, your descendants will be brought here and become residents of the Divine Seat."

Speaking of this, Ganze quietly looked into Blood瞳's eyes.

"Would you be willing?"

"Me?"

Blood瞳 withdrew his gaze, then took out a cigar from his pocket and lit it.

"Maybe."
