Colonial Suit
#714 - Ant Colony
The Krodir civilization is characterized by a strict hierarchy.
Although in the eyes of most, a Conqueror is a Conqueror, and a War Servant is a War Servant, seemingly without distinction, within the Krodir society, it's different. It's like a vast ant colony or a strict beehive. From the moment they open their eyes, every Krodir can discern their position. Those in higher positions not only possess absolute authority over those below but, more importantly, control their very lives.
The genetic material of a War Servant is, of course, superior to ordinary enhanced genetic material. So, when his sperm enters the sperm bank, the sperm of other test subjects can only die.
Because this is the War Servant's authority.
Some might ask, if every encounter is a life-or-death struggle, wouldn't all Krodir genetic material end up killing each other? How can the safety of future generations be ensured?
Actually, there's a key point here, which is the Krodir unit sequence. The genetic material left by Bloodshot, even if it's just a War Servant, is a genuine Krodir unit, while the other test subjects are not. They received implants of enhanced cell replicators, and even if they successfully underwent fusion, the genes they leave behind don't possess Krodir identity. In other words, they are wildcards.
What happens when an orthodox Krodir gene encounters a wildcard?
That question doesn't need an answer, does it? Anyway, even if the Krodir are a million times more benevolent, they still wouldn't be considered tolerant.
Dungar didn't know all this, but he keenly sensed the implications. So, at this moment, although he felt some shock and anger, he was mostly delighted.
The reason is simple: is the genetic material of a million wildcards worth as much as one orthodox gene? With Bloodshot's sample as the foundation, the other test subjects are no longer important.
"Immediately, raise the priority of Subject One's sample data to Level One. No one except me is allowed to access it at will," Dungar said decisively. "Also, improve Subject One's treatment. All of his requests must be met."
"Ah?" The scholar was stunned. "All... requests?"
"Oh," Dungar also realized he had misspoke, and shook his head. "Of course, that doesn't include leaving."
"But what if he wants to access our high-level database?" the scholar asked cautiously. He remembered that Bloodshot's first request was to access the intelligent network. Although he didn't know Bloodshot's purpose, it was always good to be cautious.
"That..." Dungar pondered for a moment, then said seriously, "Allow him to access the Level Two database, but anything above Level One requires my approval. Also... monitor his access."
"Understood," the scholar nodded and got up to leave.
Just as he was about to leave the room, Dungar suddenly said again, "Tomorrow... summon these test subjects. I want to talk to them."
"Yes," the scholar agreed, and walked out of the room.
..............................
The next morning, all the test subjects were summoned for their first official meeting with Dungar. They arrived at the Seventh Star Tower and were led by staff into a closed living room, where they sat down on their own. Two Meteor-class, one Shooting Star-class. Although there was a huge difference in strength, perhaps because they had all been injected with enhanced cells, each of them exuded a fierce aura, like lurking beasts, making people shudder.
After the first stage of fusion, these people had regained their sense of self, but their past memories were more or less missing. It was like a picture with blank spaces, and no one knew what was once painted in those spaces, or what was buried there now.
In the living room, the two Meteor-class subjects closed their eyes in thought, their chests rising and falling slowly with their breathing. They didn't speak, but the attendants behind them felt a bone-chilling cold, as if they were being watched by hungry beasts. The Shooting Star-class, though not as imposing, was even more sinister, like a ghost from the abyss.
The room was quiet. Dungar hadn't arrived yet. Only the three test subjects and a few attendants were present.
After a while, the Shooting Star-class test subject suddenly trembled, making a low 'hehe' sound. His hands gripped the armrests of the chair tightly, and in just a few breaths, he twisted the alloy armrests into a mess.
One of the Meteor-class test subjects glanced at him and snorted disdainfully. "Can't control the malice in your heart? Your fusion... seems to have problems, Number Four."
"Number Three, he's not unable to control the malice. He just can't control his instincts," the other Meteor-class watched for a while with cold eyes, then said to the Shooting Star-class Number Four, "What do you want?"
"Food, woman," Number Four said through gritted teeth, trembling. His eyes were instantly bloodshot.
"Appetite and lust," the Meteor-class nodded and said to the attendants beside him, "Go. You know what he wants."
"But... but Lord Dungar is coming soon," the attendant was so scared that his legs were shaking, but he didn't dare to neglect his duty. He knew that here, Dungar's authority was supreme. Not to mention an ordinary person like him, even a real mercenary powerhouse wouldn't dare to disobey Dungar's will.
"You..." The Meteor-class who spoke, also known as Number Two, shook his head with a hint of indifference. "You will regret it."
"I... I..." The attendant was about to faint from fear, but still gritted his teeth and insisted, "I don't regret it."
Before he finished speaking, he suddenly heard a roar in his ear. The Shooting Star-class Number Four had pounced on him. His white teeth were exposed while still in mid-air, and he bit into his neck. A subsequent tear ripped his body apart. Blood and internal organs splattered everywhere, and the air was filled with a bloody smell. Number Four didn't care at all, and actually began to chew in the blood.
He actually... wanted to eat the attendant!!
"Ugh!" Everyone couldn't help but feel nauseous and gag at this scene, and several attendants even vomited. Only the two Meteor-class test subjects, as if they had known this would happen, didn't even raise an eyebrow.
Having fused with enhanced cells, they were, in a sense, no longer human... but here, they were actually closer to the Shooting Star-class Number Four. This was the so-called circle. The three test subjects had unknowingly formed a hierarchical society like the Krodir.
Ant colony structure.
The two Meteor-class had a higher status, and the Shooting Star-class Number Four had a lower status. But no matter what, they wouldn't care about the feelings of ordinary people...
"Save... save me..." An attendant could no longer control the fear in his heart and suddenly ran towards the door. In his panic, he bumped into a figure who had just walked in.
The figure was Bloodshot. He reached out and held the attendant, then frowned at the scene in the room.
Blood, limbs, a 'hungry ghost' chewing on the ground.
Shaking his head, Bloodshot sighed. "Since you can't control it, then die."
He said this and stepped into the room.
At the same time, Number Four, who was chewing voraciously, suddenly let out a shrill scream, like a chick whose neck had been snapped. He fell to the ground, his body convulsing violently...
Visibly, endless blood mist spurted out from his pores, and his entire body began to melt little by little.
He really... died. (To be continued. Mobile users please go to read.)
