Colonial Suit

#1118 - Died before civilians

Silence reigned on the platform.

Robbie stared at Blood瞳's back, a chill running down his spine. "Parasitism... being carried... are you saying..."

"Alpha," Blood瞳's voice drifted, faint and ethereal. "Don't forget where this path leads... but I suspect Alpha also fears this thing appearing in the normal universe, drawing the world's attention, which is why he sealed it in the Naraku."

At this point, Blood瞳's voice gradually lowered, his gaze drifting towards the distant void.

"He's watching us... stealing the authority of the universe."

"Higher universes decide fate, lower universes decide survival. Alpha's power of fate..." Robbie muttered in a daze, as if in a dream. "I should have realized it sooner."

"So, we are all livestock being raised in captivity, within Alpha's sheepfold."

"Heh, heh heh..."

Robbie suddenly chuckled, his right hand supporting his forehead, his entire being seemingly sinking into the shadows, leaving only his cold laughter. "What are we? What does the entire universe even amount to? So, none of this matters. What life, what morality, what sunshine, what justice... in this sheepfold, we are like ugly maggots, unable to crawl out no matter how hard we try."

"Alpha is watching us... yes... he is watching us..."

"The Lord's shepherd. So, this is the truth."

Robbie's laughter grew sharper and more frantic, his priestly robes shifting between pitch black and mottled white. A chaotic aura emanated from his body, like a storm.

Blood瞳 stood in the midst of the storm, letting it whip his hair, calmly watching Robbie.

He knew that revealing the truth was painful, and this pain was especially acute for Robbie.

Because his doctrine originated from Boka, and Boka from Alpha. So, ultimately, he was still under Alpha's control. He gave his all, yearning for the Lord's light to spread throughout the world, but it was just another of Alpha's control mechanisms. This deception was a desecration of Robbie's faith.

But Blood瞳 didn't intend to say anything, because he knew Robbie didn't need it...

His faith had transcended doctrine, sublimating to a new height.

I believe. Not in that illusory Lord, but in the supreme good.

Sure enough, after the initial chaos, the storm gradually subsided, and Robbie returned to calm. He reached out and brushed off his priestly robe, as if removing a speck of dust, and said softly.

"Tearing away the confusion in my heart, I feel much better."

"Since everything is already destined, then let me open this sheepfold. The Lord's lambs shall not wander in darkness. There should be a lamp and a path to freedom."

With that, he turned and walked down the gangway, without another glance at Blood瞳.

Watching Robbie's back, a hint of relief and ease flickered in Blood瞳's eyes. This was the Robbie he knew best, the partner he trusted most.

The Twilight of the Gods then began its return to the human fleet. Fortunately, because Blood瞳 had been hunting the Extreme Fiends extensively, the human fleet had not suffered too many losses during the journey. There was only one encounter with the Extreme Fiends, which was successfully broken through under the protection of two Planetary-level and one Stellar-level experts, with only three heavy assault ships lost. No immigration ships were damaged. Moreover, during the voyage, they caught up with the abandoned Kunte Clan fleet and accepted them after communication. This fleet also agreed to pledge allegiance to the human fleet.

Between life and death, alliances are not necessarily sacred.

The human fleet continued to explore and advance, and finally discovered the entrance to the fifth level of Naraku on the evening of the seventh day. This place had become a slaughterhouse, with hundreds of millions of Boka and Sasha clan ships destroyed in battle, and the wreckage of giant ships and floating corpses everywhere.

In the void, a huge heavy assault ship slowly advanced, the ram at the bow pushing aside a similarly huge ship wreck, the armor plates rubbing and colliding with the wreckage, scattering layers of sparks.

The thirty-six exaggerated thrusters at the rear of the heavy assault ship spewed out thick contrails, allowing it to exert force like a bull, forging a path through this ship graveyard.

"Too tragic... truly too tragic..."

The captain of the heavy assault ship stood on the bridge, looking at the world outside through the porthole, his face as pale as paper.

It wasn't that he hadn't seen large-scale battlefields, or participated in dozens of fierce interstellar wars. But he had never seen such a tragic scene. The dense wreckage of ships filled the void, leaving no gaps for the fleet to pass through. This was the 'universe,' and the fact that there wasn't even a gap showed how intense and cruel the previous 'battle' had been.

In the captain's mind, he almost sketched out the scene of the Extreme Fiends tearing through the void and instantly destroying the immigration ships, the constantly burning fireballs, the civilians' screams and wails, turning into the universe's coldest backdrop.

"What did the Boka Clan and Sasha Clan encounter that would make them abandon so many of their people?" The captain thought silently, but did not forget to fulfill the warship's duty.

The heavy assault ship increased its power, constantly pushing away the wreckage in front, opening a path for the fleet behind, and many ships were doing the same task. This ship graveyard was too large and too vast. It almost filled a void, and to enter the passage behind, they had to open a path first.

The ship's cabin was as silent as death, and the atmosphere became more and more oppressive as they moved forward. On the holographic screen, outside the porthole, and even in the scanning images, people saw wreckage after wreckage, corpse after corpse. Dense and boundless. Those corpses were ordinary people, civilians, some old, some just born, but on this road called hope, they saw despair first.

Looking at the face of a girl floating past the porthole, her purplish-blue face still bearing shock and fear, but forever frozen in that expression, what did her wide eyes see? A terrible nightmare, or a desperate rescue?

No one knew, but the captain suddenly clenched his fist and said to himself.

"I will never let them die in front of me."

"I will never let them die in front of me!" More crew members joined in, repeating softly.

"I will never let the scene here be repeated."

"I will never let the scene here be repeated!!"

"Before I die, I will恪守职责!"

"Before I die, I will fight without end!"

"Before I die, I will shed the last drop of blood."

"I would rather not see the banners of victory."

The voices slowly spread, in the cabins, on the channels, in the hearts of all human warriors. Very light, very faint, without慷慨激昂, without气势万丈, only solemnity and persistence. More and more people joined in, more and more warships joined in, converging into rivers, converging into oceans.

Converging into... the heaviest sound in this universe.

No one mentioned 'them'. But everyone knew...

Warriors must die on the battlefield!!

Fighting is the duty of warriors!!

Not civilians.
