Colonial Suit
#1007 - Prelude to betrayal?
The Second World... the Sasha Domain.
The Titemi Void City.
Vast clouds rolled like ocean tides, enveloping a mass of flesh that constantly expanded and contracted. Beneath thick tendons, vein-like tubes as thick as buckets swelled and compressed, rapidly carrying nutrients to every inch of the Void City. From the outside, the Void City resembled a jellyfish magnified countless times, with dense tentacles waving in the void below. But upon closer inspection, one could discover that it was actually a constantly dividing and expanding fungus, shedding massive amounts of cellular tissue at all times.
Sasha Clan, Bio-Vortex Node.
Like the Boca Clan's Light Energy Node, this was also an important transmission hub for the Sasha Clan, supporting their life energy. Each bio-vortex energy cell produced by fission could provide for the needs of a nearby Void City for two days. Over the long term, this ensured the development and growth of other Void Cities.
The Sasha Clan's Void Cities were all 'alive,' and the nutrients that sustained their lives originated from here.
At this moment, in a certain chamber of Titemi, a group of figures slowly entered, emanating a cold and dark aura. They were all cloaked in gray robes, their heads and faces covered, with a semi-transparent energy shield around them to resist the ubiquitous poisonous fog within the Void City.
Titemi was the Sasha Clan's exclusive Void City, and in these thousands of years, they were the first outsiders to enter.
The chamber was very quiet, with only constantly contracting tumor-like objects and dense tubes. After entering, the group stood silently, as if waiting for something.
After an unknown amount of time, the chamber vibrated slightly, and a slit opened from above. A tentacle with compound eyes extended down, examining the figures.
"Humans, you are late."
The compound eye's thought sense was cold and mechanical, but the figures showed no abnormality, merely silently watching the compound eye from the shadows, as if confirming something. After a while, one of the figures stepped out of the line and said to the compound eye.
"Not everyone can be summoned by you. Titemi Main Brain, if you wish to cooperate with us, you must learn to respect."
"Humans, a race of empty talkers. If your abilities were half as good as your mouths, perhaps I would give you what you want, but right now, we can't even talk about that word," the compound eye said sarcastically. However, as it spoke, several fleshy seats rose from the ground, indicating a softening of its attitude.
The figure who had stepped out also noticed this. So, he led the others to sit down, and then explained to the compound eye, "The reason we are late is because we had to get rid of the mercenaries' eyes and ears. You should know what happened between the Sasha Clan and our humans before. Therefore, to cooperate with you in this situation requires not only courage but also luck."
"Fortunately, we Star Pirates are better at hiding than mercenaries. Otherwise, you wouldn't be seeing me."
Hearing the figure's words, the Titemi Main Brain began to think. After a while, it said, "You're right, humans. Your complex internal relationships give me a headache. Although I have seen too many races and lives, I have never seen a race as belligerent, emotionally complex, and fond of infighting as you. Well, let's end this topic and talk about this mission."
"Wait. I don't think I said I would accept the mission," the outsider suddenly interrupted the Main Brain, a slightly thin figure shaking his finger. "Titemi Main Brain, this is our first meeting. I think we still lack trust. Isn't it too early to talk about these things?"
"Who are you?" the Titemi Main Brain suddenly asked. "You are not the individual I contacted before."
"You can call me Yasu," the figure replied, then removed her hood, revealing a woman's face. It was a face so beautiful it was breathtaking, but a diagonal scar ruined her beauty, instead adding a lot of terrifying aura. Looking at this face, normal men would not feel lust, only fear.
The Titemi Main Brain noticed a phenomenon: when this woman spoke, the people around her automatically retreated, showing a clear hierarchy. So, it thought for a while and said to the woman.
"Well, it seems my effort has yielded greater gains. But please forgive my directness, Individual Yasu. I don't think trust is useful. In my database, there are your consistent practices and guidelines. Analysis shows that you are a group of unfaithful, profit-seeking creatures. Your only standard is the price. You can do anything as long as the price is right."
The Main Brain's words were very direct, but the woman was not angry. She smiled (or rather, grinned) and said, "It seems you already understand the trust needed, so let's get to the point. What do you need us to do, and what can you offer?"
The chamber vibrated, and a tentacle rose from the ground, its tip spitting out a small piece of flesh and sending it to the woman. "This is an information sac. If you attach it to your head, you can get the mission information."
The woman glanced at the piece of flesh, took it indifferently, and attached it to her head, but then her face became serious, and she tore off the piece of flesh and crushed it.
"You actually want us to do this kind of thing. This is betrayal!"
"Aren't you betraying now by coming here?" the Titemi Main Brain asked calmly, without getting angry.
"That's different," Yasu's face twisted, and she said through gritted teeth. "We came here just for an independent channel, but what you want us to do is betray the race! This kind of behavior can never be forgiven!"
"Your hormone secretion is excessive, Individual Yasu," the Main Brain blinked and said softly. "Anger doesn't solve the problem. Let me guess, your excitement is not because of this kind of betrayal, but because the price is too high? As long as there is a sufficient price, isn't betrayal also part of your service?"
"But you can't afford this price!" Yasu said coldly, her eyes flashing with bone-chilling coldness. "Even if you are the Main Brain of the Sasha Clan, you are not qualified!"
"Then let's change the qualification. Is this guarantee enough?"
The Main Brain shook, and another information sac rose and was sent to Yasu. Yasu hesitated for a moment, then picked it up, and the next moment her face changed drastically.
"You, you actually..."
"You see, the price is enough," the Titemi Main Brain chuckled softly. "What the Boca Clan can give you, the Sasha Clan can also give you. In fact, all you need is a space, a position. Since the universe mercenaries can get it from the Boca Clan, then you Star Pirates should also have the same gains. When you stand on the same starting line, then the so-called betrayal should also get another explanation in human vocabulary."
"Do you want to sink into the shadow of the mercenaries, or become the saviors of mankind, replacing the position of the mercenaries? Make a decision! Individual Yasu."
"Or rather, Vice President."
