Astral Cockroach

#229 - guess

Due to the limited quantity of Seven-Colored Cold Bamboo, the hybridization experiment between Seven-Colored Red Bamboo No. 1 and Seven-Colored Cold Bamboo was difficult to conduct in the short term.

The hybridization experiment with Ghost Thread Bamboo was also progressing very poorly.

The various hybrid seeds obtained last year were sown, the seedlings were successfully transplanted, and the second bamboo shoot grew out. The bamboo culms also grew successfully. Upon careful identification, they were all hybrids, and no reversion to Ghost Thread Bamboo was obtained.

Without finding the reversion, it was temporarily impossible to conduct the three-line hybridization experiment.

Can these bamboo species obtained through two-line hybridization flower every year? Will they bear fruit or condense bamboo rice? What will be the quality of the ordinary life seeds they nurture?

A series of questions require time and practice to test.

The four bamboo species, Purple Bamboo, Black Bamboo, Strong Bamboo, and Golden Thread Bamboo, were crossbred with each other. All the obtained seeds were sown, and one or two years of observation are needed to obtain some useful information.

Red Rice, Potbelly Bamboo, and Red Rice, the three little fellows, have been following Banbu to learn the techniques of hybridizing and cultivating bamboo species.

Red Rice, obsessed with rice hybridization and having a good understanding of hybrid breeding, had a sudden inspiration and proposed a possibility to Banbu: Could Ghost Thread Bamboo be a mutant formed by the hybridization of two closely related bamboo species?

Banbu felt it made sense and asked Red Rice to write it down. When the Chonglou caravan came next year, they would be entrusted to inquire about the situation from the caravan that discovered Ghost Thread Bamboo back then.

However, too much time had passed, and it was unknown whether the caravan of that year still existed.

Banbu also began to think and deduce on his own: Black Bamboo culms have black stripes. Golden Thread Bamboo culms have golden vertical stripes. These two bamboo species are the most suspicious, but from observing their hybrid offspring, it doesn't seem to be the case.

There must be other rare bamboo species involved.

Therefore, Banbu was looking forward to a drought in the Southwest Region, preferably a severe drought that would kill all the bamboos of the Red Crow Ghost King.

According to the agreement, the Red Crow Ghost King would entrust a caravan to send Banbu a large batch of seeds of all the bamboo species it currently collected.

… …

Origin Energy creatures have strong vitality. After less than half a month of recuperation, and sufficient feeding and rest, the thin and emaciated body of the Oil Camellia regained its fullness and agility.

After Banbu repeatedly persuaded it, it finally agreed to leave the Blood Thorn Thicket and chose a cliff at the foot of Lizhu Peak, digging a cave to live in.

However, after living in the cave for only a few days, it left without saying goodbye and disappeared without a trace.

The Bamboo Rat warrior on the mountain breathed a sigh of relief: The terrifying guy is finally gone.

Banbu thought it would be missing for a long time again.

As a result, it suddenly appeared three days later, carrying a simple rabbit skin bag containing some newly germinated camellia fruit seeds, which it sowed at the entrance of its cave.

A beast warrior who likes to plant trees? As expected, it's not an ordinary cat!

Banbu told it that Oil Camellia trees need to be planted in high mountains with high humidity to grow well.

The Oil Camellia hesitated for two days and moved its cave dwelling to the mountain again.

Then, after the Oil Camellia seedlings grew up, it disappeared again.

This time it left, it didn't appear for a very, very long time.

… …

The newly born Little Red Cockroach warrior needs very, very little Origin Energy. Banbu only needs to leak a tiny bit from its own food each day to feed it.

High-quality Origin Energy food is also beneficial to the growth of the little warrior.

A month later, the little guy who always liked to stick to Banbu's head molted and evolved once. A month later, it successfully grew into an L3 elementary warrior.

The little guy brought the inherited memory of "seeking shelter from elder members of the same race" to the extreme, refusing to leave Banbu even an inch. It was also particularly quiet, not liking to move at all. After eating its fill, it would lie on Banbu's head, motionless.

Until... the Blood Peach of the Wind Chime Territory ripened.

Banbu, with a try-it-out mentality, went to eat a Blood Peach once.

As a result, this little fellow became attached to Wind Chime, sticking to Wind Chime's head all day long, refusing to leave.

The little warrior was petite and fragile, easily injured. Wind Chime had no choice but to lie in the territory all day, not daring to act rashly.

The dry season arrived, and the bamboos flowered.

Banbu was freed up and took advantage of the season to conduct various bamboo species hybridization experiments.

There is a conjecture: Whenever a high-quality plant variety is cultivated, there is a high probability of obtaining the corresponding God-given Seed.

Statistically, among the cockroach warriors with God-given Seeds that are currently in contact, this conjecture can barely hold true.

For example, the Great Yellow Fig, this plant species was cultivated in the Water Fig Mountain Range, benefiting the Sheep Hoof Mountain Range.

For example, the Red Firm Princess, the Brown Fruit Oil Camellia, the Blood Peach Princess...

This phenomenon is most obvious in Banbu.

The Purple-Gold God-given Seed was originally Xun Grass, and not an ordinary Xun Grass. It was a high-quality grass species that could flower and bear seeds twice a year, selected and bred by the Big-Headed Harvester Ants.

The Green Bamboo and Rain Bamboo God-given Seeds are both hybrid varieties, which better fit the conjecture.

Many knowledgeable insect warriors also have this conjecture, but they gradually deny it. Because, in more cases, insect warriors have cultivated high-quality tree species, but have not obtained the corresponding God-given Seed.

There are more such examples, too numerous to count.

For example, the Flying Fire Cockroach tribe led by Longevity County Lord Longevity Cockroach King, they plant peach trees on a large scale, mastering complete and mature cultivation technology and breeding technology. Over the long years, they have cultivated no less than 100 brand-new high-quality peach tree varieties. However, only a few of those varieties gave birth to God-given Seeds.

The vast majority of God-given Seeds are still born from ordinary plants under accidental probability.

For example, Banbu's Blood Thorn, Cattail, and Red Fruit Oil Camellia, three God-given Seeds.

Blood Peach County, the Snakeberry God-given Seed of Blood Peach County Lord is also an ordinary variety. The other two brand-new snakeberry varieties it cultivated did not have corresponding God-given Seeds born.

The Weeping Fig God-given Seed of the Weeping Fig County Lord of the Sheep Hoof Mountain Range.

The Iron Tallow God-given Seed of the Iron Tallow Mountain Lord of the Qinggang Mountain Range.

It seems like there is a pattern, but upon careful calculation, it is still elusive.

Overall, the only certain rule is that in areas with abundant Origin Energy, the probability of giving birth to God-given Seeds is greater.

Banbu personally witnessed that ordinary plant seeds absorb the special Origin Energy from the extraterrestrial "stars" and can eventually transform into life seeds, which are Origin Energy plants.

Having human wisdom, it does not believe in the so-called "blessings of the natural gods", and is more accustomed to rationally analyzing the reasons.

Banbu tried to guess that the so-called insect race "gods" have mastered the ability to promote the birth of God-given Seeds in plants.

Then, the use of this ability must have limitations, temporarily defined as needing "energy storage", needing a little time to accumulate energy before the ability can be used.

This green planet is vast and huge. Plants are going extinct every year, and new varieties of plants are being born every year.

The so-called "gods" are just powerful cosmic-level life forms, who couldn't possibly be idle and stay in the starry sky, paying attention to the evolution of this planet.

Those "stars" should be some kind of instrument and equipment that can detect changes in plant species on this planet.

Whenever the instrument happens to accumulate enough energy, and a new variety of plant happens to be born, its ability will be triggered and projected down.

This setting is easy to understand. The "gods" are encouraging their descendants to work hard, manage diligently, and work diligently. To those descendants who have achieved success in management, they are given God-given Seeds as rewards.

Banbu has also been observing the "starry sky" at night. The number of "stars" is sparse, few and far between, and the distribution is irregular. However, in the past two years, the average number of "stars" at night has been increasing!

On this planet, the "decline" and "prosperity" of insect races alternate and fluctuate. Tracing back to the source, it is still those "stars" that are guiding.

All guesses combined: Cultivating new varieties of high-quality plants has a good probability of obtaining God-given Seeds.

As the number of stars in the night sky increases, the probability will continue to increase!

As for the birth of God-given Seeds from conventional plants, that should be a completely random natural birth, difficult to force, but not impossible to seek. When the threat of the beast warriors in Jinping Mountain Range passes, the Seven Bamboo Rat warriors can be sent out to search.

Taking both approaches together, the probability of obtaining God-given Seeds will be greatly increased.
