Astral Cockroach

#17 - The Covetousness of the Anaconda

As a Force creature grows, spiritual power slowly develops within its soul.

Banbu was once a Third Class Private in the Human Federation, reaching the Planetary level of life. When he fully released his spiritual power on a normal survival planet, it could cover a radius of 3 kilometers. Spiritual power has many uses, the greatest of which is detection, discerning the slightest movements within its range.

For some unknown reason, after being reborn, his soul weakened to a nascent state, his spiritual power vanished, and everything started from scratch.

Currently, as an L3 Elementary Warrior, he has only developed a very weak spiritual power, making it quite difficult to sense his own condition, everything is vague and unclear.

Banbu stimulated his muscles and blood vessels through various strenuous movements, while simultaneously using his spiritual power to sense the changes. Gradually, he discovered that there were many hidden blood vessels and hearts within his tiny body.

The hidden blood vessels had excellent contraction elasticity, withering into tiny fibers in normal times, not hindering the movement of muscle fibers in any way.

The hidden small hearts were the same, contracting and remaining motionless in ordinary times, almost imperceptible.

Humans produce blood through bone marrow, while cockroaches in this world produce blood through their hearts.

During intense exercise, especially when suffering severe injuries and blood loss, the hidden hearts are activated, rapidly producing blood, and the hidden blood vessels are activated immediately afterward, rapidly transporting nutrients and organic energy.

The tiny cockroach is not only complete with its internal organs, but the complexity of its muscle, blood vessel, and bone structure is beyond imagination, even surpassing the human body.

Banbu originally thought that after figuring out the distribution of his own blood vessels and hearts and understanding their operating rules, he would easily be able to create corresponding cultivation methods, but he discovered that things were much more complicated than he imagined.

Creating a cultivation method is a complex process of exploration and deduction. To put it figuratively, he originally thought it was ternary arithmetic, but the discovery of hidden blood vessels and hearts turned the arithmetic into senary.

The difficulty didn't just double, but increased tenfold. His brainpower wasn't enough, and he had to use external tools to assist him.

If this were human society, with the help of computers and intelligent programs, a lot of calculations could be avoided, and a lot of time could be saved.

The problem is that he is now on a primitive planet with zero technology, all alone, without even paper or a pen.

Banbu began to open up a special research nest deep inside the boulder, smoothing the top black stone to inscribe information on the stone in the most primitive way.

Nine cockroach drawings, a ventral view, a dorsal view, and a lateral cross-sectional view, detailing the carapace nodules, muscles, and most importantly, the distribution of blood vessels and hearts, based on his own condition.

Combining Arabic numerals and letters, with detailed annotations, these three drawings that Banbu created based on his own state are more than 10 times his own length.

Even so, they are densely filled with text, with non-critical parts labeled with leader lines, and named "Structural Atlas".

The nine drawings alone were a massive project, taking Banbu more than half a month to complete.

Of course, completing this project also meant that Banbu's familiarity with his own body had reached a meticulous level.

It's too complicated, so it needs to be carved out. Looking up at it gives a clear picture, which can effectively reduce the burden on the brain.

Intense exercise and overloading the brain to think about problems increases consumption, requiring more food. Coincidentally, a giant snake with a reddish-golden body wandered over from somewhere and made its home next to the stream.

Named "Crimson Python", its color is similar to the rosy clouds of late autumn. It is accustomed to nocturnal activity and predation. After eating and drinking its fill, in the morning it likes to climb onto the black boulder where Banbu lives, lazily coiling up to enjoy the sunshine, digesting its food, until it leaves near noon and dives into the stream to escape the midday sun.

Inherited memories showed that adult Crimson Pythons are giant beasts entrenched in the jungle, existing at the top of the food chain, requiring the mobilization of high-level tribal warriors to hunt. They are accustomed to entrenched in large rivers, feeding on medium and large herbivores such as mink and elk.

This is a juvenile Crimson Python, about 500 in length, which is already an unchallengeable behemoth for Banbu.

What's hateful is that this guy frantically preys on swamp frogs by the stream every night. In just a few days, the adult swamp frogs were almost completely eaten, and it began to prey on juvenile swamp frogs.

Banbu could only watch helplessly as his scheduled food was plundered. He wasn't sure if the Crimson Python was interested in his cave, and he didn't even dare to go out hunting at night.

He thought that he could endure it and it would pass, and that the Crimson Python would leave to find food elsewhere after eating the swamp frogs, but unexpectedly, after eating a lot, its size also developed rapidly, and it simply settled in the pool of the stream, starting to expand its wandering range, preying on small animals such as moles, squirrels, rabbits, and birds in the nearby jungle.

The Crimson Python also noticed the Xun Grass life seed, attracted by the Primal Energy aura emitted by the plant. At some point, the location for sunbathing moved from the top of the black boulder to the entrance of Banbu's nest. Every early morning, it would wander over, rain or shine, coiling next to the Xun Grass life seed, staring longingly at the wilting flower spikes, which had already produced pale purple grass seeds.

This is the instinct of living things, the Xun Grass seeds condensed by the life seed are extremely tempting to it.

Banbu couldn't bear it anymore. Not only was he being blocked at the door every day, but the other party was also coveting the life seed grass seeds that he had worked so hard to cultivate.

Kill it?

Banbu couldn't think of any way to kill a behemoth a hundred times his size.

Poison it?

The awakened inherited memories did record many poisonous animals and plants, Banbu had searched for them, but unfortunately, he didn't find any nearby.

He did find a flat little insect called "Shield Bug", the insect is as its name suggests, its carapace is gorgeous and bright. In the jungle, a gorgeous appearance often means venom, which is a warning to predators.

However, the Shield Bug is just bluffing. Not only is it not poisonous, but it is also a nutritious delicacy for predatory insects such as mantises and locusts.

Natural creation is always wonderful and unpredictable. For predators such as snakes, rats, and birds, the Shield Bug is an "unyielding bone" that cannot be provoked. They have a special gland in their body that can ferment and store a gas, which is released when encountering danger.

The sensory organs of insects do not reject this gas and feel nothing. However, when this smell falls on the olfactory organs of snakes, rats, and birds, it is an extremely foul "lethal poisonous gas". They have to walk around the Shield Bug when they see it, fearing to avoid it.

The malodor released by the Shield Bug has strong adhesion. Once it is stained, it cannot be washed off or wiped clean, and it will be disgusting for a long time until it naturally evaporates and disappears.

Banbu planned to try using the odor of the Shield Bug to drive away the Crimson Python.

He quietly lurked closer, quickly reached out his claws, cut off the Shield Bug's head. Losing brain control, the poisonous gas in the storage gland would not be released in time, and then he carried the corpse back to the entrance of the cave and crushed it with small stones.

In this way, he made more than a dozen small stones stained with foul-smelling gas in one breath, surrounding the Xun Grass life seed in a circle.

One early morning, the Crimson Python arrived as scheduled. From a long distance away, its forked tongue keenly captured the unusual smell. It hesitated for a long time, and finally did not approach the Xun Grass life seed, but lay on the black boulder to enjoy the autumn sun.

Banbu secretly observed, confirming that this method was effective, and was secretly delighted, deciding to expand the scope.
