Chapter 39: Exploring the whereabouts
Time goes back to the day before Hope's bloodline awakened.
After more than a week of trekking, the Fury Tribe finally found the Goblin Tribe near the Mushroom Forest with the previous bear goblin captives.
So, the broken goblin tribe welcomed its new owner.
Compared with the harsh environment of the Fury Tribe, which was almost surrounded by the magma lake, this goblin tribe deep in the canyon was undoubtedly quite comfortable.
The barbarian goblins who came here did not care where the ordinary goblins here had gone. After cleaning up the mess after the battle between Carl and Hope, they moved in here.
The captive bear goblin of the tribe did find it, but because of the humiliation of the Fury Tribe during this period, the bear goblin not only did not warn him, but was still looking forward to the people of the Fury Tribe getting into trouble.
The giant lizard that escaped from the breeding shed due to the negligence of the hideous mutant was caught back from the canyon by the barbarians of the Fury Tribe.
For a whole day, the bugbears and hobgoblins stationed here ate barbecued giant lizards, held defective weapons that Carl couldn't fit in, and held a crazy banquet.
In the eyes of the people of the furious tribe, they are now equivalent to "fencing off territories".
It was in such an atmosphere that danger quietly came.
...
In the right wing of the wooden house, Carl, who had been struggling with Hope for a long time, finally coaxed her to sleep.
Just as he was about to go back to his room to have a good rest, a weak psychic wave came from a certain direction.
Carl's weak psychic energy was activated responsively, and the tone mixed with the noise of software stirring sounded in Carl's mind:
"Brain..."
This information without a beginning or an end made Carl a little confused, but he directly raised the level of importance of this matter to the highest level.
"There are other people with psychic power in this dungeon, and judging from the intensity of this psychic power fluctuation, the other party must be at least a level 6 psychic or a mind flayer."
"Is it not a coincidence that we are teleported to this dungeon?"
"That mind flayer, could there be a secret base here?"
Countless questions popped up in Carl's mind. He walked out of the wooden house and came to the edge of the mushroom cap, trying to determine the source of the psychic power fluctuation based on the direction it came from.
But although exploring the dragon pattern gave Carl good vision and perception, Carl could not see anything under the cover of the fluorescent mushrooms.
"Do you want to go and have a look? Although my psychic power is very weak, it should be able to focus my thoughts and prevent others from sensing it."
Unknown enemies are more dangerous than enemies whose underwear is exposed.
After a brief moment of thinking, Carl's eyes gradually became firm, and he got up and went back to the living room to put on the power armor.
Now the power armor has been upgraded by Carl, and the thickness of the armor has been greatly compensated.
The fragments of the black stone sword were made into matte paint by Carl, and evenly brushed on the outer shell of the power armor.
This made the power armor made by Carl with reference to Tiga look more like the version of Dark Tiga now.
But none of this is important. The most important thing is that Carl made a Khyber dragon crystal into a lightning launcher on the chest of the power armor and drew the storm rune on it.
Although it failed to seal a storm elemental creature in it to give the power armor function, the storm rune also increased the power of the lightning launcher.
"The hot weapon pendant with the continuous weapon injection has not been completed yet. Now I can only use the pulley crossbow to support it. But fortunately, I only went there for reconnaissance this time. If everything goes well, I don’t need to do it."
After reinstalling the pulley crossbow that was damaged by the black fog on his left arm, Carl looked at the smelting furnace outside the house with some regret.
The pulley crossbow was repaired by Carl as early as when the two returned.
But he was more to commemorate this weapon that had fought side by side with him for a long time.
As a strange machine master, he actually likes hot weapons more.
After obtaining enough metal materials, the first thing Carl thought of was to use them to make guns.
Thermal weapons with the continuous-fire weapon infusion were the most important means of force for the mechanic in the early stage.
"Unfortunately, the [Continuous-fire Weapon] infusion of thermal weapons is much more complicated than the [Continuous-fire Weapon] infusion of crossbow weapons. Even if I have been simulating in the dream world for this period of time, I cannot guarantee the success rate."
The [Continuous-fire Weapon] infusion of the mechanic is actually derived from the second-level characteristics of the wizard's spell school.
The spell school can summon creatures or create objects out of thin air, and their second-level characteristics [Secondary Spells] can create non-magical items composed of magic power out of thin air.
And the mechanic referred to this characteristic and created a low-profile version of this ability - [Continuous-fire Weapon] infusion.
Ordinary bullets are of course non-magical items, or in other words, as long as the object does not have a magical effect under normal conditions, it is basically non-magical.
Compared with ordinary crossbows, the multiple materials involved in bullets and the millimeter-precise appearance make the corresponding infusion more complicated.
If Carl directly used the infusion ability to make a finished product, it would be relatively simple, but in order to continue to use the dimensional bag and alchemy pot, Carl needed to draw the corresponding continuous-fire weapon infusion magic pattern on the weapon himself.
This was a bit difficult.
Shaking his head to dispel the chaotic thoughts in his mind, Carl came to the gap between the ground and the mushroom cap, and slid down by pulling the rope.
The Infiltrator model of power armor was as quiet as ever, even quieter than when Carl's body was moving.
After taking a long detour along the mushroom forest where the road had not yet been opened, and after a careful investigation, Carl soon discovered something unusual.
"A giant lizard with an exploded head, it looks like it was done by a brain-eating monster, so are there really brain-eating monsters and mind-flayers here?"
Whether it is a brain-eating monster or a mind-flayer, their main source of nutrition is the brain of a creature.
Unless it is absolutely necessary, they will not eat the body of a creature.
"The direction of the bloodstain is this way, it seems that they seem to want to move out of the forest... In this case, I will go against their direction to see!"
With a little fluke, Carl tried to go to the lair of the mind-flayers and brain-eating monsters, and sneak attack them when their main force was out and the defense was empty.
Even if he failed, he could at least know where the enemy's lair was.
Raising his head, Carl went deeper into the forest in the opposite direction of the bloodstain.
Along the way, the animals with their heads exploded vaguely formed a route map leading to the Mind Flayer base.
This arrogant behavior of not hiding one's whereabouts made Carl somewhat doubt whether this Mind Flayer was the same person as the one who captured him.
But it must be said that the other party's behavior provided Carl with a lot of convenience.
Picking up a few relatively intact animal corpses and putting them into the dimensional bag, Carl picked them up as he walked, and soon, a chitinous hemispherical base appeared in front of him.
A dozen brain-eating monsters walked slowly around the building, looking like they were guarding it.
The hemispherical building occasionally released strong psychic energy, and it seemed that it was investigating the surrounding situation.
"Sure enough, there are not so many things to pick up in the world, but it's good, at least we know the location of the Mind Flayer base, so next, let's go and see where those guys are going!"
