American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker
#68 - Self-healing factor, talking about business
Hammer Industries and its leader, Justin Hammer, unsurprisingly dominated headlines across various newspapers. Just as he had declared on the main stage that night, the media's ink would be insufficient after tonight. However, Justin was referring to praise.
In reality, it was a complete mockery and accusation.
The safety issues of Hammer Industries' Iron Soldier series were once again exposed to the public. Some resourceful media outlets even dug up and reported on Hammer Industries' previous hasty use of human subjects for experiments, resulting in spinal fractures and paralysis for the victims even after rescue.
This undoubtedly dealt another heavy blow to the already precarious Hammer Industries.
In the past, Justin would have certainly done everything to manage public relations, using all his connections to suppress the news, or at least prevent it from being fully exposed. But now, he was still in the police station, facing numerous severe charges, barely able to protect himself, and could only watch as the external storm intensified. His close associates, such as Senator Stern, were avoiding him like the plague, fearing being implicated and drawing trouble to themselves.
Thus, after a period of intense reporting, those with keen insight or connections in higher circles largely understood that Justin, faced with conclusive evidence and the full force of the Stark and Heberon families' attacks, was now in his death throes, unable to recover. In all likelihood, Justin's final destination would be a prison.
Finally managing to send Justin in amidst the storm, Hammer Industries' stock plummeted, and internal power struggles erupted. It seemed that for a long time, it would remain in a slump, perhaps even facing bankruptcy. These days, Eina's mood had been high throughout, maintaining her good spirits for a long time.
And the arrival of one person made Eina, who was already in a good mood, even more radiant.
...
"As everyone knows, Heberon has the external image of being technologically advanced in mechanics. Its rich library of alloy materials, such as the Iron Titan series, mechanical prosthetics, and the highly anticipated domestic robots, etc. But this is actually a prejudice. Although our biological gene technology is less famous under the brilliance of the mechanical department, it is not without unique technologies."
A female doctor in a white lab coat was leading a group of Midtown High School students on a tour of Heberon's biological laboratory. And Gwen Stacy was prominently among them.
"Such as?" A girl with freckles raised her hand, asking under the encouraging gaze of the female doctor.
"That's a good question." Dr. Tilda Janson shrugged and signaled them to follow: "Come with me, here, you will see the most advanced biological technology that only exists in the laboratory."
...
"A healing factor?" Nick Fury's one eye looked at the vial of blood-red liquid in his hand, seeking confirmation from Luke opposite him.
"Didn't you just see the effect?" Luke yawned. He had just performed a dissection of a white mouse in front of Nick, and then injected this healing factor-containing injection into the dying mouse. Now that mouse could run, jump, eat, and drink.
"I always thought you were a mechanical genius, but I've never heard of you having achievements in the field of biotechnology." Nick played with the vial in his hand, tentatively asking Luke.
"Just an accidental product of research." Luke told the truth. The old blood clan was indeed a treasure, not only the dimensional energy behind it, but also its own physique was worth studying.
"What's this again?" Nick saw Luke gesture, and Eina Sandra next to him took out a vial of emerald green liquid from a silver cryogenic safe. His heart skipped a beat and he asked.
"Longevity factor, longevity potion, call it whatever you want." Luke spread his hands: "It can delay the aging of the human body and nourish the decaying and aging organs. In other words, it can make people live longer."
"Do you know what these words represent?" Nick's heart wasn't just skipping a beat now, it was pounding. He felt that Luke was playing a bit too big this time. Healing injections were fine, but a longevity factor would drive some people crazy.
"Of course, I know." Luke nodded.
"I must know what research you are conducting that would have such accidental products?" Nick stood up, paced back and forth on the floor, sat down again, and looked at Luke with a serious expression.
Under Nick's one-eyed gaze, Luke smiled and said without any concealment: "An old blood clan." In fact, this couldn't be hidden for long once the potion was released.
"The one from the Sphinx family?" The veins on Nick's forehead popped. "I thought he was dead."
"In fact, no. As a precious experimental subject, he is very well protected." Luke looked proud. He was the one who had rescued the other party from the brink of death again and again. Although it was also him who had repeatedly caused the other party to enter a near-death state.
"You will cause turmoil in the underworld!" Nick almost instantly understood the sinister intentions of Luke's research. If these potions were really effective, then it was obvious that the blood clans, which had been somewhat neglected for some reason, would probably be purged. After all, once the benefits were large enough, Nick didn't need to imagine what kind of fierce methods some people would use.
Luke spread his hands.
What did this have to do with him?
Of course, Nick was just saying it. Perhaps the underworld would be more orderly without these dark creatures? At least he was a humanist. He asked, "How is the clinical application? Are there any sequelae?"
"Only verified in animals." Luke said directly.
"When will human trials be conducted?" Nick's one eye looked at Luke. He could ignore the longevity potion, but the healing potion was still a bit useful to him.
Hearing this, Luke and Eina both showed identical smiles on their faces, sat upright, and looked at Nick opposite them with anticipation. The light shining in their eyes made Nick Fury feel a surge of electricity and his scalp tingle!
"F*ck!" Nick almost instantly understood what they meant from their eyes. He looked at the two of them in disbelief, feeling that their faces were so thick that they could be compared to his: "There are risks? You don't want to get your hands dirty? Let me do it?"
"Healing injections are 20% off!" Eina gave her condition.
"40% off!" Nick directly cut it in half. He was already planning and calculating how much funding he could deduct from this discount.
Of course, Eina would not accept immediately and argued with Nick, and the two negotiated for about several tens of minutes, and finally initially delineated the scope of cooperation and preferential prices. Nick himself enjoyed a 50% discount on healing injections. But similarly, he must be at the forefront of complicated affairs such as orders and official matters.
"May I ask, have you chosen the experimental subjects?" Luke asked as Nick got up to leave.
Nick turned around, squeezing out a somewhat cold smile on his face: "The existence of the underworld sometimes serves these things. There are enough scum to use."
PS: Yesterday, I wrote more than 300 words in more than an hour and fell asleep in the quilt. I still felt cold all over during the day, had phlegm in my throat, and had a sore back. I think I have a cold. I took ibuprofen and will take some cold medicine at night.
PS2: The owed chapters will be made up before they are put on the shelves. The author doesn’t want to catch a cold at this juncture, but there is no way. Everyone, please be considerate. Protect yourself more! I drank a pot of hot water today.
