American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker

#402 - Cutting of Time [Part 1]

"Damn it!" Darkseid felt a powerful gravitational force tearing at his body. He was almost desperate, resisting being captured with everything he had, and repeatedly releasing the power of the Omega Effect as a booster, forcing himself to break free from the gravitational capture.

He still had the strength to do this. But the surrounding Parademon army, as well as the satellite beneath his feet, were torn apart and covered the giant's body, devoured and becoming part of the armor on the giant's surface.

"Looks like a black hole," Stephen said, taking a slight breath of cold air as he looked at the giant's location. If he hadn't seized the opportunity, even he would have found it difficult to resist this kind of gravitational capture. His physical qualities were still inferior to those of the gods like Thor and Darkseid.

"He's been captured and bound by gravity," Thor said, shaking his head as he watched Darkseid constantly trying to escape the gravitational source. He believed that Darkseid must have a way to deal with this kind of attack, but he also believed that Luke would have targeted countermeasures. In the game between the two, Thor had more faith in Luke. If he faced this situation, he could only try to unlock more power from the Stormbreaker and then use the hammer's power to forcibly break this attack.

As Thor said, although Darkseid was constantly retreating, the gravity was constantly pulling him. The current situation was that he could forcibly escape a certain distance, but he was always within the giant's gravitational capture range.

Darkseid's gaze suddenly turned to the depths of space, towards the direction of Thor and the others. Two Omega Beams snaked out again. For Darkseid, the power of the Omega Effect could not only be used to attack, but also allowed him to move freely in the space and time opened up when the opponent fled.

In simple terms, this could achieve a kind of alternative space-time jump. As long as there was a constantly moving target point, the Omega Effect would constantly break through the obstacles along the way. Darkseid could regard the channels opened along the way as space-time doors, and carry out instantaneous space-time transfer. It was just that this transfer depended on the target's landing point, rather than his own.

Darkseid's purpose in releasing the Omega Effect towards the direction where Thor and the others were hiding was to blast out such a [channel] so that he could escape the giant's strange and difficult-to-escape gravitational capture.

However, the Omega Effect that was released suddenly twisted again as it bypassed the giant, landing on the giant and causing an explosion.

"It seems that there is no mistake, the giant forcibly captured the power of the Omega Effect. But how did he do it? The information didn't say that the Omega Effect was bound to hit the target? I think Darkseid's target just now was us, right?" Thor said with a puzzled tone after watching the whole process this time. He had been prepared to block the attack and try to counterattack.

"I think..." Stephen frowned, he sensitively noticed something wrong, or rather, something abnormal that made him feel awkward. But the whole battle process seemed very normal.

"What did you discover?" Seeing Stephen's frown, Thor asked curiously. He looked at everything as normal. Neither the giant nor Darkseid seemed to have any abnormalities.

Only the fact that the landing point of the Omega Effect would always fall on the giant made him unable to understand.

Darkseid in the battle area was frustrated and had to fight with the giant. He didn't even know how the giant suddenly appeared beside him. There was clearly no spatial fluctuation, but he suddenly caught up with him.

In the past, he had an endless army of Parademons to fight and drag down any enemy, but now, no matter how many Parademons there were, they were useless against this giant. Even if the opponent did nothing, just standing there, it was a meat grinder for the Parademon army entering the gravitational capture area. They would be torn apart and devoured cleanly.

Darkseid could resist this gravitational force, and he could fight the giant at close range while resisting this gravitational force. But he was greatly restricted, and the whole battle process made him feel extremely slow and depressed.

He even vaguely sensed that he had forgotten many important things, and also sensed some uncertain anomalies from the battle. But he was unable to deal with it at all, and unable to figure out where those abnormalities came from.

"Has he not used the power of the Omega Effect for a long time? He just gave up his advantage and fought the giant head-on?" Looking at Darkseid, who was blasted away by the giant and then pulled back by the gravitational capture, Thor couldn't understand. In this case, shouldn't he use the power of the Omega Effect to frantically output attacks? After all, the power of the Omega Effect was much more powerful than his own fists and weapons.

Thor didn't think Darkseid was such a stupid person, but precisely because of this, he felt that the seemingly intense and normal battle in the distance was very abnormal!

"How do you know he hasn't used it?" Stephen's face showed some amazement mixed with interest, as if he had figured out something, and he asked Thor in return.

"He really didn't use it, did he?" Thor recalled carefully and said very seriously.

"If my guess is correct, he has used the Omega Effect many times. Or rather, he has used the Omega Effect many times without even knowing it," Stephen said, looking at the giant on the battlefield who seemed to only know how to wave his fists and fight in close combat, as if he wanted to see something from it.

"What exactly did you see?" Thor was a little confused by what Stephen said, so he simply asked directly.

"Time! It's the power of time! Because I have used the Time Stone, I am very sensitive to the power of time! What I have always felt was abnormal before is the abnormality of time!" Stephen no longer played riddles, but frankly stated his deduction: "I don't know if what I imagined is correct, but it is clear that this giant has mastered the power of time. Or rather, he has mastered the power of time trimming!"

"The power of time trimming?" Thor was a little dazed.

"The battle between the two is a pre-arranged movie, and we are the audience. But the only difference is that the giant on the field, as one of the protagonists, still has the right to direct and edit. In other words, it's not that Darkseid didn't use the power of the Omega Effect, but that the beginning, process, and result of his use were all cut off."
