The Triskelion.
Inside a conference room, Nick Fury was squinting, his eyes closed in rest. He had been quite overworked recently, getting less than three hours of sleep each day. Although his physical functions were at their peak due to various potions and technological enhancements, that didn't mean he wouldn't feel fatigued.
He had even created various robotic clones to help handle some of the complex and tedious tasks, reserving his personal involvement for issues requiring decision-making. Even so, the sheer volume of filtered matters was still giving him a headache, especially the recent large-scale project.
Two hazy glows painted the conference room, and then several figures emerged from an aurora-like light curtain.
Luke, in simple attire, was alone.
On the other side was Loki, adorned in golden armor resembling antlers and wielding a scepter, accompanied by a somewhat haggard-looking Norman Osborn.
Sensing their arrival, Nick opened his eyes and stood up. He was merely acting as an intermediary this time, providing a venue for discussion, so after a brief greeting, he didn't say much more.
"It's been so long, I think you should be able to come up with an answer by now. Tell me what's going on," Luke said, pulling out a chair and sitting down, looking at Loki across from him.
"What do you want to know?" Loki transformed his armor into ordinary clothes and sat down as well. He also looked unwell. At this crucial juncture of conquering other universes, the Time Variance Authority under his management had encountered problems. This was undoubtedly a slap in the face, and he could already imagine the tone and expression his wicked sister would use to mock him upon hearing this news.
Truth be told, he really didn't want to see that scene unfold.
Although it wasn't the main base that was attacked, perhaps that was only because the main base was hidden well enough.
Loki was now the most eager to find the intruder and inflict various punishments upon him. Because of that person, his years of diligent work had almost become a joke.
Heaven have mercy, he really hadn't been slacking off or indulging in pleasure this time. He had put a great deal of effort and energy into the Time Variance Authority. After all, with such a fierce sister watching him at all times, it would be an exaggeration to say he was walking on thin ice, but being conscientious was no exaggeration at all. Precisely because of this, the attack made him feel even more furious.
"The enemy," Luke asked tentatively. However, he didn't hold high hopes. If the enemy had really been discovered, Loki's personality would have led him to gather manpower and retaliate long ago. Even if he couldn't retaliate for some reason, he would come to his brother, or father, or even Hebo Lun for help.
However, although the other party had been constantly active these past few days, there was no good news to report.
"It might be related to Kang's remnants. Because the technology used by the intruder is from the same lineage as the Time Variance Authority's, and he knows the operational rules and map of the Time Variance Authority very well.
His purpose is very clear: to loot the Time Variance Authority. I need to state that Time Variance Authority No. 03 has not fallen; it was only thrown into chaos for a while due to the intrusion. The whole process didn't exceed half an hour. If the other party hadn't escaped quickly, my people should have been able to catch him," Loki replied through gritted teeth.
"The losses?"
Luke was noncommittal about Loki's subsequent words, while Nick Fury, on the other side, impassively played the role of a listener. But neither Luke, who was responsible for all matters outside of Silent City, nor Nick Fury completely believed Loki's words.
Who told Loki to have the divine authority of deception, to be the God of Mischief? His lies were ingrained, and without using some technical means, no one could discern the truth from Loki's words. He was a true master in the art of lying. Perhaps this sentence was true, but the next sentence would be false, with the sole purpose of deceiving people or luring you into a trap.
Loki's lying in this matter wouldn't make much sense, but his words, without corroboration, still couldn't be fully believed.
For example, he somewhat embellished the response capabilities of Time Variance Authority No. 03 later on.
"Some technical data was lost. The other party's goal was very clear. I suspect he came for those things," Loki clenched his fist and slammed it hard on the table, and fine cracks immediately appeared on the solid wooden surface. Seeing this scene, Nick narrowed his eyes, his peripheral vision scanning back and forth between the table and Loki, while mentally starting to raise the price of the tableโthat is, estimate its valueโand began drafting a compensation list to be sent to Loki.
"The specifics!" Luke impatiently tapped the table, interrupting Loki's lengthy and vague speech. He could tell that something important must have been lost to make Loki act so evasive now.
And Luke couldn't let Loki get away with acting dumb like this.
Moreover, if Luke wanted to bypass Loki for a thorough investigation, it wouldn't be difficult to find out what the other party had lost. Even with Loki's obstruction. And Loki was obviously well aware of this.
Who told Luke to modify the entire Time Variance Authority's system and rules before authorizing him to manage it? He wasn't the owner, just a worker. Although he had always been unwilling to acknowledge this.
"Some information about the manufacturing technology of the new energy. Of course, what was lost was all previous-generation technology that had been eliminated by Hebo Lun and could be spread to other places," Loki rubbed his hands, first throwing out information that made Nick perk up.
"They haven't been eliminated," Luke corrected Loki, too lazy to deduce anything from the other party's expression, and once again directly asked, "What else?"
If only this technology had been lost, Loki would probably be more relaxed. After all, this technology itself could be made public, and even Luke Hebo Lun couldn't wait to promote and spread it throughout the universe.
Why?
Because this technology, as Luke said, was not outdated or eliminated, but its hidden dangers were greater. When Hebo Lun authorized this technology to the Time Variance Authority, it did not authorize the corresponding solutions together.
This meant that if someone obtained this technology and used it, they would certainly be able to develop powerful energy technologies in a short period of time, even create gods, but the drawback was that the deeper they went, the more dependent they became, and the more dependent they became, the more unable they were to get rid of Hebo Lun's influence.
This was like the operating rules of human society. When you build a rule framework at the beginning, and a set of rules that are secretly obeyed due to human nature, then when you follow this set of rules, your path will be much smoother, but this does not mean that this approach is correct. You think that when you become strong, you will reshape this set of rules and break this set of rules, but when you really become strong, this set of rules still binds you in turn, making you like a trap in the mud, making it difficult to move forward.
This was a poison. You can certainly enjoy the convenience it brings you, but it also means that you have completely tied your future to this fast-moving chariot. Jumping off the car means being smashed to pieces.
So losing this technology sounds serious, but it's actually not. Luke even couldn't wait for the other party to quickly understand it and quickly advance to large-scale equipment and use of this technology. Even a modified version was fine. Without touching the core, then all other changes were minor details. If the core was changed, the other party had this talent and strength, and naturally could see the hidden dangers of this technology, so there was even less need to covet this technology.
So what could make Loki so embarrassed must be followed by another extremely bad news.
"There's also some related technology," Loki opened his mouth, his eyes a little wandering, but in the silence, he seemed to realize that his concealment was a bit ridiculous, so after settling his emotions, he directly said, "That is the technology related to war that you recently gave to the Time Variance Authority."
"The Beast?" Luke also narrowed his eyes.
"Wait a minute, can I ask what the Beast is?" Nick on the side couldn't help but ask. S.H.I.E.L.D. had always been responsible for undertaking Hebo Lun's technology and distributing it to make the best use of it, but what was the Beast?
Was it the former Beast series of extraordinary equipment?
Or was it an upgraded and modified version of the Beast series of extraordinary equipment?
"Just a life form that exists based on new energy," Seeing that Luke didn't stop him, Loki thought about it and gave what he thought was an appropriate answer.
"It's an energy manifestation life! It can connect with the legends before civilization and present them. For example, these." As Luke spoke, he threw several beads pieced together from tiny parts in the air onto the center of the conference table. Light burst out from the beads, and virtual images appeared before the people present. Including Norman Osborn, who was silent on the side, watched the images intently.
On the screen were ugly and ferocious, seemingly full of repression and ferocious huge creatures. On the data listing information on the screen, the smallest of the huge creatures shown was also more than forty meters tall. The largest one was even the size of a small galaxy!
"What is this? Mutant creatures? Or monsters created by some technical means? They don't look like energy creatures at all," Nick looked at those monsters that made people feel fear just by looking at them, calmed the heart in his chest that was beating violently due to inexplicable stimulation, and moved his gaze away.
"It's a product of the dark side. Hebo Lun's technology is strictly speaking one and a half generations, and has been modified according to needs. It can produce new energy, but similarly, these energies will each find their own host.
For intelligent civilizations like humans, they can collect and utilize positive energy. They will find the dark side difficult to control, and will cause people to lose control and bring various bad consequences. So they will try to eliminate it like dealing with nuclear pollution.
But the negative side of darkness will not disappear. The more they gather together, the more they will produce alternative changes after exceeding a certain limit, and spread to the surrounding area.
Once a life form comes into contact with and accommodates these dark energies, it will be transformed into these monsters on the screen. Of course, if there are no life forms that can accommodate them, they will turn into dark lives similar to elemental creatures.
The new energy has just devoured and assimilated the energy of another universe, and has its characteristics. These characteristics do not need to be modified, and will in turn cover all the previously produced energy.
In another universe, different energies will affect life to transform into forms that belong exclusively to them. And the new energy now has this point."
"In other words, they are weapons born from psionic energy?" Nick pondered, giving an answer that he understood.
"You can't say it's wrong to think so. Because these creatures produced by dark condensation are inherently difficult to communicate with if the method is wrong, and have a strong desire to destroy. In other words, once they appear, they can be regarded as a natural disaster.
What's even more terrifying is that they can be eliminated, but they will not be extinct. Unless the civilization that uses psionic energy completely abandons this energy, or is extinct.
But when extinct, the entire civilization will be transformed into a ghost dimension-like existence by psionic energy. As for completely abandoning it, can humans abandon the Internet? Can they abandon technology? It may not be difficult in the early stage, but in the early stage, these hidden dangers will not erupt. On the contrary, all you see are benefits. Most importantly, even if you give up, can you completely eradicate the existing psionic energy?
It's impossible. The tenacity and parasitic nature of psionic energy is something that even I, the creator, sometimes have a headache with. But who told it to be a part of the main body now?" Luke grinned and answered somewhat easily.
Substituting what Luke said into human civilization and thinking about it, both Nick and Norman couldn't help but shiver and felt extremely pressured. Especially Nick, who, when thinking of that scene, even found it difficult to breathe.
With his experience, it was easy to predict the scene that would form, that is, a constant stream of dark psionic life forms clashing with their civilization. A long and endless war that could last forever would be as commonplace and deeply rooted as this civilization. And disasters and wars would make psionic energy, dark psionic energy, more lively and stronger.
Nick believed that Luke, who always liked to link one ring to another, must have some unknown tricks in it, such as locking some psionic information and making civilizations that obtained psionic energy make wrong judgments about dark psionic energy, and so on.
Just by himself, he could think of several subtle pitfalls in an instant. Unknowingly, the universe that spread psionic energy, whether willing or unwilling, and without each civilization completely conquering, would gradually and automatically become a part of psionic energy over time.
Is this Luke's hunting and growing method that is different from other dimensional demons?
