#36 - Stark's Replay
"I am Iron Man!"
Tony Stark's words shocked the entire media world, nullifying all the preparations S.H.I.E.L.D. had made to conceal his identity. James Rhodes' astonished expression, the helpless faces of Phil Coulson and others, and the reporters' initial surprise followed by excited frenzy created a subtly complex tableau.
However, Tony Stark didn't care about the storm he had unleashed; he just wanted to deal with these matters as quickly as possible so he could free up time to do something worthwhile.
Like, a technical debriefing?

Returning to his California villa, Tony went straight to his messy underground laboratory.
"Jarvis," Tony called out as he descended the stairs.
"At your service," Jarvis's male voice responded.
"Import the data from Mark II into the database and conduct a debriefing," Tony said, stretching out his hand to pull up virtual projection screens in front of the workbench. The screens displayed the figures of Mark II, Iron Monger, and the black and white mechanical armor.
"First, remove the Iron Monger data," Tony crumpled the Iron Monger screen in his hand as if it were a piece of paper and threw it into a virtual trash can that appeared out of nowhere.
"Analyze the data and deconstruct the structure of this black and white mechanical armor," Tony commanded.
The black and white mechanical armor leaped out of the screen under Tony's gestures, forming a three-dimensional image that magnified and revealed itself. Jarvis devoted a large amount of computing power to disassemble and replicate the parts and structure of the black and white mechanical armor. The progress bar moved forward bit by bit as the parts of the mechanical armor were disassembled on the screen. However, upon reaching the middle section, both the three-dimensional disassembly image and the progress bar turned red.
The word 'Failure' also appeared on the screen.
Tony cursed under his breath.
"Fast forward the battle footage from last night to the first appearance of the opponent," Tony ordered in another way.
The virtual three-dimensional projection image instantly updated, switching to a replay of last night's battle footage. Because it was reading the database-recorded view of Mark II, many of the images were not global views, but replays from Tony's own perspective inside Mark II. Therefore, the first glimpse of the black and white mechanical armor was a scene of Iron Monger launching missiles at it.
Moreover, the picture was somewhat blurry and bumpy due to Tony's high-speed movement.
"Fill and stabilize the picture," Tony ordered.
Jarvis unhesitatingly executed Tony's order. With the image program Tony had specially created for him, a large amount of computing power was invested, and the somewhat blurry and bumpy picture quickly became clearer and smoother at a speed visible to the naked eye.
"Stop!" Tony said when he saw the picture enter a certain frame.
The picture stopped, and what appeared in front of Tony was the black curtain that the black and white mechanical armor opened when the laser-guided missiles fired by Iron Monger were about to approach their target. In the picture, it looked as if a piece had been cut out of the whole scene, a dark patch that obscured the figure of the black and white mechanical armor from the image.
"Play," Tony said again, quickly stopping it again and instructing at a rapid pace: "Stop, this is the picture. Extract the paused picture from just now and juxtapose it with the paused picture in front of me."
Jarvis faithfully carried out Tony's orders, quickly displaying the two images side by side in front of Tony.
One was the black and white mechanical armor opening a black curtain, and the other was the black and white mechanical armor holding a dud missile in its hand.
"Are there any more data and information scanned at that time in Mark II's database?" Tony asked, arms crossed and hand on his chin, looking at the screen in contemplation.
"Strong energy reaction detected when the unknown Iron Man armor opened the black curtain," Jarvis prompted.
"Electromagnetic pulse?" Tony first put forward a guess, then immediately denied it as he looked at the picture, "No, it's not. The Mark armor and the surrounding electronic equipment were not affected. Is it a new weapon that I don't yet understand?" Tony was thoughtful.
"It's an unknown energy reaction barrier," Jarvis could only give an answer that he could provide based on the existing data.
"Continue showing the video," Tony frowned and thought for a moment, then had Jarvis continue playing the image.
The next paused frame was divided into four parts: first, Iron Monger's huge steel body running in front of the black and white mechanical armor and throwing a punch with inertia; second, the change in the foot part structure of the black and white mechanical armor; third, the black and white mechanical armor standing steadily under the impact of Iron Monger's fist; and the final fourth part was the energy flowing like veins on the metal texture of the unknown mecha's body, a punch that sent Iron Monger flying backwards in a bent posture.
"Mark II's feet have a grip-stabilizing structure, can it do this?" As soon as Tony finished speaking, he saw Jarvis switch to a GIF of his controlled Mark II being thrown around by Iron Monger. Tony Stark covered his eyes, unable to bear to look directly, and loudly commanded Jarvis.
"Good boy, turn it off! Turn it off! Turn it off quickly!"
"Pull up the design drawings of Iron Monger," Tony Stark looked at Iron Monger's huge steel body, which could be described as a power-fighting type, and then thought about the output power of his second-generation palladium reactor, and he quickly came to a conclusion.
"Better alloy materials than TI-0450-ZT and TI-2217-FZ, stronger protection, better shock absorption performance, and with certain kinetic energy absorption characteristics, the overall structure and shock absorption measures of the machine are also better than Mark II," Tony Stark frowned. This was almost an all-round backwardness. Perhaps the other party's energy system was not as good as his own second-generation arc reactor? Or was the other party's intelligent system not as good as his own Jarvis? Tony tried to think about the advantages of his Mark II.
It was more painful for him to admit that he was inferior to others than to kill him. Especially, he originally thought that Iron Man armor was his unique technology and his greatest invention so far, but he found that someone else's Iron Man armor technology was more mature and more excellent than his. Even more frightening was that the controller of the unknown mechanical armor had saved him!
The picture continued to play, and Tony, who had been debriefing with Jarvis's data analysis, finally had to admit that the other party's energy technology might not surpass his arc reactor technology, but it was not necessarily inferior to him. Especially the close-range combat skills and the dexterity of the fuselage displayed by the other party's mechanical body in the battle were simply like a real person proficient in fighting. This clearly proved that the other party's intelligent control system was also quite excellent, at least the smoothness displayed was not inferior to Jarvis, who was used to assist him in controlling the Mark armor.
Even more terrifying, and also the point that Tony didn't want to admit, was that the machine controlled by the other party obviously reacted faster than he did with Jarvis's assistance. Even if that small gap wasn't big, Tony knew very well that if it were him, once he was approached, his fate would be the same as Iron Monger's, and he would be suppressed by that little bit of speed without the power to fight back.
That was not only a matter of human reaction, but also a confrontation of intelligent systems!
Even if it was just a little bit, that was it, one was one. If you couldn't beat it, you couldn't beat it.
A glass of water was handed to the somewhat absent-minded Tony by a robotic arm. Tony took it and gulped it down, the desire to win in his heart had been ignited.
Admit defeat?
That was impossible.
He wanted to upgrade his Mark armor, upgrade Jarvis's intelligent program, and he must surpass that unknown machine with Iron Man armor technology!
PS: Sometimes it's very helpless. Yesterday I was really concise. I didn't want to pad the chapter, otherwise I would have written the battle for several chapters. Although I'm not good at writing battles, the number of collections for battle descriptions increases a lot.
Why not describe Tony's surprise in the battle? Because I think the logic doesn't make sense. Someone beats you half to death, and then someone comes to help you. Then you don't go up to help, but you say: This newcomer is so awesome? Shouldn't you first take advantage of the fact that you haven't exhausted your energy and work with your helper to defeat the enemy first? That's a good teammate! At this time, you still have the mind to worry about how powerful the helper's technology is. I don't think it fits Tony's character. At this time, the arrogant and foul-mouthed him would not do and say this in front of others.
So my initial plan was to try to briefly show the technology and combat power of the armor, then quickly transition, and then conduct a debriefing to support this technical comparison. But it seems that some readers are quite dissatisfied. If you don't like this writing style, I'll consider it next time.
The transition of the reporter yesterday was necessary, otherwise there would be a sense of fragmentation. That's what I think. It's really difficult to write books now. I hope everyone will support me more. Suggestions can be made, and the author will listen. But don't hit my confidence too much.
