American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker
#314 - Conqueror: Meeting
"Did you figure anything out?"
Standing at the scene of the latest murder, Mobius looked at Loki expectantly.
"Figure out what?" Loki raised his head, looking at Mobius blankly.
"My mistake, what I meant was, do you have any suggestions? Based on your understanding of yourself," Mobius rephrased, asking again.
"No, I have no suggestions. I have no idea what the other me wants to do, and if I don't know what he wants to do, how can I give you advice?" Loki shook his head.
"Well, it seems like another fruitless trip," Mobius said, sounding disappointed.
"You guys can control time, so why not go back to the moment it happened? I mean, go back to when that person was committing the crime," Loki asked, puzzled. With such powerful abilities, did they still need someone to help solve the case? Shouldn't they be able to directly observe the timeline and see everything in detail, like watching a movie?
Impossible?
That mage seemed to be quite good at it.
"I need to correct you, we cannot control time. We only maintain and correct time, ensuring that it progresses along its proper timeline.
As for why we can't go back to before the event and wait for him, related events can cause instability in the timeline, causing this branch to change and intensify. And any tiny unexpected factor can lead to completely uncontrollable unexpected situations. If we don't want to see even greater destruction and worse situations, we can only appear and deal with it after the event has occurred and the timeline is more stable."
Mobius gave Loki a candid answer to his question.
"Then don't you have any intelligence information about him? Can't you observe his whereabouts in the timeline?" Loki was still puzzled.
"We can't find him. Do you understand? We can't find him! I asked you to help me find him. He's very cunning and has used some method to avoid time observation," Mobius said, getting a little agitated.
"Then it seems you're not as powerful as I thought. How lame," Loki curled his lip. This was not even as good as Heimdall now, at least the other party, with the support of Odin and Luke's armament, not only could see everything that happened in the universe, and everyone, but also could trace time, observe a period of time that had already happened, the past events that still had memories in the universe.
"We are never powerful, the powerful ones are the Time-Keepers. They are the masters of the Time Variance Authority," Mobius wasn't angry at Loki's吐槽, while ordering the anomalous time here to be trimmed off with a reset charge, he smiled, and stepped into the opened time portal.
The reset charge is equipment used by the Time Variance Authority to control time variables and trim the affected areas on branching timelines. It allows time to heal itself and follow the original script of the Sacred Timeline.
"I want to look at some information. Only by knowing more can I help you more," Loki also stepped in, chasing Mobius back to the Time Variance Authority's lobby, quickly jogging two steps to walk alongside him, demanding.
"I can give you this authority, but you must understand that if you cannot prove your worth, then you will have to be reset.
In movie terms, if the Sacred Timeline is a movie with a beginning and an end, then eradicating you is like cutting you out of the movie. You don't exist in time, so naturally you don't exist in the movie. Apart from us and the Authority's database, no one in your universe will remember you, nor will there be any trace of your existence," Mobius stopped, looking at Loki solemnly.
"I know. Also, remember to return my belongings, this outfit is really uncomfortable," Loki's eyes flickered, tentatively requesting.
"Give him his things," Mobius waved to a Time Variance Authority guard beside him, pointing at Loki.
"Thank you very much," Loki gave a graceful bow.
"You better show your worth, otherwise, I can't help you either," Mobius patted Loki on the shoulder, meaningfully.
Loki, who had retrieved his belongings, couldn't wait to rummage through his pockets. He remembered that he had a lot of good things on him.
But all that was returned was his clothes and a windproof iron lighter.
"Where are my other things?" Loki looked at Mobius.
"Some things are not the right time for you to take back. After all, Ravonna's trust in you is almost non-existent. I have done everything I can," Mobius smiled apologetically at Loki, holding his coffee, touching his sparse hairline, and sat back in his seat.
Loki clenched his fist and punched the air in resentment, then helplessly went to the records room. Of course, he wasn't as angry as he showed, at least he still had a lighter in his hand, didn't he?
A lighter that he had pilfered from Luke's treasury.
No matter what it was for, according to the level of Luke's treasury, anything that could be stored inside was at least a artifact-level equipment, right?
Just like Odin's vault, only treasures that he could see and had collectible value would be placed in by Odin.
Loki now intended to figure out what this lighter did. Maybe his escape depended entirely on it.
Of course, unless he was forced to the point of desperation, he didn't intend to use it inside the Time Variance Authority without knowing anything about its effects.
...
After browsing the case files in the archives for two days and two nights, Loki seemed to have made a major discovery and found Mobius, who was hurrying to carry out a mission.
"I found that guy," Loki sat down in the chair across from Mobius's desk, looking at him with burning eyes.
Hearing Loki's words, Mobius's originally somewhat annoyed expression immediately became serious. He suddenly stood up from his seat and looked at Loki.
"You found him?" he asked in surprise.
"To be precise, I found out how he avoided you. But once you know how he avoided you, it's not difficult to dig him out," Loki smiled smugly.
"Are you sure?" Mobius was a little incredulous.
"Listen, the reason you can't find her is because she's hiding in the doomsday timeline. The appearance of related events is because someone did what they should do, which in turn triggered a series of uncontrollable chain reactions. If you do a lot of extra, far-reaching things, will it lead to the appearance of a new timeline branch?
For example, me, Loki, I went back to before the destruction of Asgard and did a bunch of messy things, will that affect the original timeline?
No! Because Ragnarok will still come as scheduled, it will destroy and annihilate everything. Then those messy things I did, those behaviors that might trigger the appearance of new timeline branches, will be buried with the arrival of Ragnarok, and everything will follow the Sacred Timeline. So in your time observation, everything is normal!
Because what was supposed to happen did happen. There were no accidents. No timeline anomalies will be captured by you. And after this timeline is erased, no new timeline branch will appear. Can you understand?" Loki explained to Mobius with great effort, wanting him to understand.
"What you said is a possibility, but how can we be sure?" Mobius looked at Loki.
"An experiment, very simple for you, isn't it?" Loki smiled at Mobius.
Mobius immediately found the judge and applied to her for an experiment. Judge Ravonna didn't trust Loki and thought he was talking nonsense, but Mobius's plea still made her approve the experiment.
Mobius and Loki found a node before a doomsday disaster occurred from the timeline, then used the time portal to travel back in time and made a crazy scene at that node.
But when the disaster came, Mobius was surprised to find that everything was as Loki said. Before the timeline they observed had time to produce branches and changes, the time in the area was erased.
Everything was normal.
...
Mobius resolutely organized a team, eliminated the possibilities one by one, and locked onto a time point according to Loki's action pattern, and took people to chase after it.
This time, they were the closest to the perpetrator.
Loki even saw another version of himself, a female version of himself. He wanted to understand Loki's purpose and tentatively tried to form an alliance with her.
To be honest, the more Loki understood the Time Variance Authority, the more he wanted to control it himself. Although it couldn't be compared to the behemoth of the Energy Bank, it naturally had its own strengths. If all else failed, packaging and selling all the equipment and technology here to Luke would also be a rich harvest.
Unfortunately, his overtures were rejected by the other party without hesitation. Loki opened a time portal in front of him, said goodbye playfully, and jumped in.
At the same time, the time reset devices that Loki had placed in the timeline, which she had scavenged from the Time Variance Authority guards she attacked, were also activated at the same time, completely shaking the stable Sacred Timeline.
Countless time branches spread and climbed with the reset of time, causing the entire Time Variance Authority to be completely chaotic.
Loki, who came to the Time Variance Authority, rushed quickly towards his destination according to the memories he had extracted from the brains of those Time Variance Authority guards. Loki, who came over with her almost at the same time, immediately followed her when he saw her running figure.
The two running Loki's quickly caused a commotion and pursuit. Finally, before they reached their destination, they were still blocked by Judge Ravonna and her men.
Magic was banned in the Time Variance Authority. Loki, who had no way out, could only restart the time teleporter in her hand and disappear from the Time Variance Authority before being arrested.
"Why did you come with me?" Loki looked at Loki, who had fallen from the ceiling to the ground, and roared.
"You used me as a hostage. Couldn't you have reminded me when you opened the door, or pushed me out?" Loki stood up from the ground, baring his teeth. His eyes saw the time teleporter that had fallen not far away on the ground. Loki's eyes followed his, and they both fell on the time teleporter.
The two looked at each other and acted almost simultaneously, grabbing for the time teleporter, and there was even a little physical conflict in the middle.
But Loki embarrassingly found that he couldn't even beat the female version of himself. The time teleporter also fell into her hands.
"Goodbye," Loki waved to Loki, who had been kicked aside, with the teleporter in her hand.
"Wait," Loki subconsciously took out a lighter and held it up high.
"A lighter? Have fun yourself," Loki spread her hands and shrugged, starting the time teleporter.
Loki then hardened his heart and used the lighter in his hand in a clear metal lid opening and rubbing sound. He didn't know what the lighter did. He took it out and used it just out of desperate rage.
A transparent flame sprang up, and the magic power in Loki's body frantically poured into the lighter in his hand. This pocket-sized object was like a bottomless black hole, greedily devouring his magic power.
A strange force field centered on Loki and spread out boundlessly in all directions, spreading out thousands of meters in the blink of an eye.
Within the force field, everything was still. Floating dust, moving wind, creaking sounds, shaking ground, and Loki, who was standing outside the light gate and preparing to step into it.
The only one who could move in the field was Loki, who was holding the lighter.
However, Loki's current feeling was not good either. The magic power in his body was decreasing rapidly, at an unbelievable speed, which forced him to seize the time and quickly step forward to snatch the time teleporter from Loki's hand.
Another clear metal collision sound. The transparent flame and the strange force field disappeared together with the closing of the lighter's windshield.
The flow of time returned to normal.
Loki heard the sound again, and also felt the shaking of the ground, and a fist coming towards him.
"What did you do? Give it back to me!" Loki, who had returned to normal, staggered and almost did a split. She was surprised to find that the time portal in front of her had disappeared, and even the teleporter in her hand didn't know how it got into Loki's hands. She immediately reacted quickly and punched Loki in the face.
Loki, caught off guard, fell backwards, and then felt a body pressing on him, and his fingers holding the teleporter were forcefully pried open, and the teleporter was snatched from his hand.
"This time I really have to say goodbye," Loki smiled and started the teleporter again. But the next moment, the smile on her face disappeared. She looked in shock at the teleporter that seemed to have malfunctioned, shaking the hand holding it violently a few times and restarting it.
Still silent.
No light gate appeared.
"What the hell did you do?" Loki looked angrily at Loki on the ground!
