American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker

#311 - Conqueror: Thief! Thief!

“Could you stop obsessing over that hammer?” Loki asked his brother, a hint of exasperation in his voice. He desired power and the throne, yes, but only to enjoy the perks and ease that came with them! What was with making him handle a mountain of tasks?

“Without the hammer, how are we going to defeat our dear sister?” Thor retorted, ignoring his brother’s complaints, still wholly focused on the hammer. He had even deliberately learned a few stories to tell it, hoping to cheer it up.

“I’ve had enough! Every day, there are endless tasks to handle, and these are things you should be doing! You’re the King of Asgard!” Loki roared, seeing that his brother was impossible to reason with.

“You’re good at this,” Thor said, surprised at his brother’s outburst. “I thought you enjoyed it.”

“Who enjoys endless work? Listen, we have to go find Luke!” Loki countered, before reminding him.

“Are you really sure he’ll agree to our request?” Thor still seemed hesitant.

“We have to try. We can’t resist Her Undead Legion, so of course we have to find someone who can solve the problem. Heimdall!” Loki said, not waiting for his brother to say anything more, he took a step and stood beside him, raising his head to the sky and shouting.

A brilliant beam of light descended from the sky, enveloping the two of them, then using Asgard as a transit point, and after obtaining Quiet City’s gate permission, teleported them once more.

Teleportation Plaza. Loki and Thor’s figures abruptly appeared on the ground.

“Let’s go.” Loki straightened his attire and strode forward, but after a couple of steps, he realized something was wrong. Noticing that his brother hadn’t followed, he covered his face in exasperation and turned around, only to see his brother still fussing over the hammer at his feet.

“Good boy, be good, let me lift you just a little bit. Give me some face!”

“Can you just forget about your damn hammer!”

Seeing his brother’s embarrassing behavior, Loki felt a surge of anger. He had no idea how many times he had said that!

Then Loki was directly blasted away by a bolt of lightning from the hammer, falling to the ground from mid-air.

“See, you should watch what you say. It doesn’t have a good temper.” Thor saw his brother suddenly sit up from the floor, his once neatly combed hair now standing on end, and while crouching down to appease the hammer, he reminded him.

“I’ve had enough!” Loki grabbed at his hair in frustration. Although he had changed a lot, he had truly had enough!

“Thief! Thief!”

A piercing sound echoed through the plaza, and rows of spherical mechanical bodies flashed out from patches of light, shouting at Loki on the ground.

“Stop calling me a thief! I didn’t steal anything this time!” Loki stood up from the ground, correcting the group of mechanical bodies circling him.

“That’s what you get for stealing the exhibits from the lab.” A gentle male voice sounded, and middle-aged Luke’s projection appeared before the two in a timely manner.

Thor looked at the hammer, Loki stole things.

The former was obtained after signing some agreements, the latter was a failed attempt at freeloading and was caught on the spot.

“How was I supposed to know that thing was an exhibit? It was just sitting on the table, looking like trash!” Loki said, embarrassed and angry.

“Anything in the lab is my exhibit. Also, what is he doing?” Middle-aged Luke retorted without any courtesy, then looked strangely at Thor, who was babbling to the hammer.

“Never mind him, he’s gone crazy! I’m here to talk business, big business!” Loki waved his hand, intending to temporarily exclude his embarrassing brother.

“Let me guess, it’s about the war with your sister Hela, right?” Middle-aged Luke saw through Loki’s intentions. He spread his hands. “I can’t do that. Odin specifically told us that this is your family affair, and we can’t interfere.”

“Make an exception!” Loki looked at Luke.

“I can’t.” Luke looked back at him.

“I’ll pay!”

“It’s not about the money.”

“Overpriced procurement! A big deal that’s enough to equip a legion of Asgardians!”

“I’m very tempted, and also very sad. But the rules are the rules, and there’s nothing I can do.”

“You can take a little more commission.”

“I’m just an emotionless tool. Are you bribing me? What I know is the same as what the original knows, that’s not good, right?”

“Sorry, I misspoke, it’s a deposit for helping to customize weapons.”

“That’s not good.”

“What exactly do you need to agree? Don’t tell me you’re a staunch rule follower, you’re not that kind of person.”

“What I mean is, add a little more!”

Loki looked at middle-aged Luke, who was rubbing his hands and smiling, and was speechless for a moment, remaining silent.

“Twenty percent premium.”

“Deal!”

“The rules aren’t being followed?”

“I am the rule.”

“What about Father?”

“Just found a universe with a lot of development value, and I plan to send King Odin on a long business trip in the name of the original.”

“Playing so big? I underestimated you.”

“It’s just being rebuilt by the original, no big deal! Let’s talk about this big deal.”

“Can I make a request?” Loki asked tentatively.

“I can listen.” Capitalist Luke thought for a moment, and said cautiously.

“Can you make that hammer behave?” Loki pointed to the hammer that his silly brother was attending to with care, and said helplessly. To be honest, he never thought that one day, he would be helpless against a hammer, or even jealous.

“Let me see.” Middle-aged Luke stepped forward.

“I know this hammer was forged from the mass of a world, using special technology. To lift it, you must be able to bear the power of a world. Of course, this is just a threshold setting. In fact, you can also gain its approval and use skill to lift it. How does that saying go? Give me a fulcrum, and I can lift the world? Pretty much. If Thor wants to lift it, he needs to gain its approval and find its fulcrum.”

“So, how exactly can I make it obey?” Loki asked through gritted teeth.

“You should ask the original and the Luke in charge of manufacturing. Why are you asking me? I’m just a money-making machine. But don’t worry, this is a process of mutual acceptance and integration. Now, they have a good relationship, right? Thor will soon gain its approval and lift it.” Middle-aged Luke glanced at them. His mind was now focused on Loki’s big business, who had the leisure to care about a broken hammer and a musclehead?

“Really? That’s great.” Thor also heard what middle-aged Luke said, and stood up with an excited face.

“When will we sign the contract?” Middle-aged Luke looked at Thor and Loki, and finally determined that making business decisions still depended on Loki, so he decisively threw Thor aside and looked at Loki, asking.

“Shouldn’t you listen to my request first and then quote a price?” Loki said helplessly.

“It’s all the same, but I think going directly to the final step is beneficial to our business.” Luke said.

“I need weapons and equipment that can restrain the Undead Legion.” Loki directly stated his condition.

“This is really, what a coincidence.” A smile appeared on middle-aged Luke’s face: “We just incorporated a new energy that happens to restrain the power of the undead.”

“What is it?” Loki quickly asked.

“Come over here. Because it’s a new thing, the original only researched it in the laboratory and created a few small gadgets.” Middle-aged Luke snapped his fingers, and the power of space directly teleported Loki away from the plaza, leaving the dumbfounded Thor standing alone with a hammer in the empty plaza.

When Loki reappeared, he had arrived in a familiar space. In front of him, white rings emitting a soft halo were floating in front of him, rotating around him up and down, left and right.

Middle-aged Luke’s figure stood opposite him.

“White Ring! Another universe represents the power of life! It has the power to expel death and restrain the power of the undead! This is a supplement to our energy. It can not only be used to eliminate the undead, but also allow the wearer to avoid death.

Of course, because it is a new product, the price is a bit expensive, I think you can understand, right?”

“Sorry, I can’t understand.” Loki added before Luke’s expression changed: “But I can let Asgard pay.”

“That’s good. How much do you want? An Asgardian army, is it a thousand or ten thousand?” Middle-aged Luke’s expression eased a little, while asking, he pondered in his heart, how much should he charge, and what was Loki’s psychological bottom line.

“A hundred people, try out the quality first.” Loki said seriously.

“Are you kidding me?” Luke looked at Loki in surprise.

“I have to see the effect before I say anything else. I promise, there will be a big order!” Loki said decisively.

“But your credibility is not high in the Energy Bank’s assessment!” Luke looked suspicious.

“What about Thor? Place the order in his name! After all, he is the King of Asgard, isn’t he?” Loki decisively threw a trouble on his brother’s head.

“Okay, okay. Even mosquito meat is still meat, isn’t it?” Middle-aged Luke muttered: “You better live up to my efforts, otherwise even if I’m rebuilt, the successor will definitely come to you for trouble.”

“Find Thor.” Loki shrugged, and also took something from the table and hid it in his sleeve. And this scene didn’t seem to be seen by Luke.

“What about the carrier? Are you choosing armor or something? Actually, I think a ring is enough.” Luke looked at Loki.

“As long as it can eliminate the undead, I don’t care about the others.” Loki nodded in agreement.

“Friendly reminder, you should know the characteristics of the weapons sold by the Energy Bank, right? Remember to come back to recharge after the energy is used up. If you need a charging lamp, that’s another price. The equipment for a hundred people is not equipped with an independent lamp.” Luke reminded.

The two discussed the business in the vault, signed the Energy Bank’s special supply contract, and left the vault together, returning to the Rainbow Bridge Plaza.

“Goodbye.”

After informing Thor of the news of Captain’s return, middle-aged Luke teleported the two, along with the hammer, back to Asgard. The Rainbow Bridge between the two established a teleportation network, which can be mixed under permission.

For example, if Asgard’s Rainbow Bridge teleports people to Quiet City, Quiet City’s Rainbow Bridge is responsible for taking over the teleportation of people. Similarly, if this Rainbow Bridge teleports Loki and Thor back to Asgard, the two will also come out of Asgard’s Rainbow Bridge.

In the plaza, middle-aged Luke was still standing in place, as if waiting for someone. In a colorful light and shadow, King Odin in casual clothes walked out.

“Are they gone?” Looking at the empty plaza, Odin’s expression was complicated.

“Don’t worry, Loki is a smart man, not to mention he also took something from my vault.” Middle-aged Luke replied easily. “He will need it.”

“Why Loki?” Odin asked.

“Maybe it’s because he needs to grow?” Luke thought for a while and gave an answer that made Odin’s face darken, but soon, he seriously replied: “For time, the right place, the right person, the right thing happens. Loki is the right person. You have to have more confidence in him.”

“Ensure his safety, this is my only request.” Odin turned around and pleaded to Luke. He is not King Odin now, but as a father.

“Don’t worry, I will help him when necessary.” Middle-aged Luke nodded.

Teleport tunnel.

The Rainbow Bridge suddenly split into a branch, separating Loki and Thor, who were caught off guard. Loki watched Thor rapidly move away from him, dumbfounded.

The light dissipated, and Loki, who was thrown out of the tunnel, rolled around on the ground in a mess. When he stood up again, a yellow light door appeared in front of him at the right time.

A fully armed squad walked out of the door with weapons, surrounding Loki in the center.

“Midgardians? What are you doing? Don’t you recognize my face? Get out of the way!” Loki frowned, looking at the hostile humans. He raised his head and looked at the sky, this didn’t seem like Midgard.

“Grab him!” The leader issued an order.

The members of the squad immediately opened the weapons in their hands and launched an attack on Loki.

“You guys took the initiative to attack me, don’t blame me for fighting back.” Loki smiled when he saw that they really dared to attack him, but only for a moment, under the influence of some magical power, his body fell into some kind of slowness, he only felt a residual image suddenly hit his cheek, shaking his facial muscles. When that power dissipated, he fell to the ground as if he had been hit hard.

Two people stepped forward, put a belt-like collar around Loki’s neck, and then grabbed his shoulders, one on the left and one on the right, dragged him on the ground, and entered the yellow light door together.
