American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker
#27 - Game of Thrones
The Triskelion.
Nick Fury held a stack of photos in his hand, flipping through them, examining each one carefully. The photos were of a giant robot, taken from angles and with a clarity that suggested they were shot surreptitiously.
"Director," a balding man with a harmless face knocked and entered, drawing Nick Fury's attention from the photos.
"Agent Coulson, take a look," Nick Fury tossed the photos onto his desk, scattering them like playing cards in a long trail. Phil Coulson stepped forward, gathered the scattered photos, and began flipping through them one by one.
"What's this?" Phil Coulson raised an eyebrow at the half-finished-looking giant robot in the photos. This kind of thing didn't seem like something an ordinary organization could build. Could it be a major operation?
"Heberon Industrial Technologies. These photos come from Heberon Industrial Technologies," Nick Fury tapped the desk, revealing the source of the photos. "Our people went to great lengths to get these photos, and they were discovered!" As he spoke, Nick Fury's tone carried strong dissatisfaction. He felt his new recruits were becoming increasingly lax, with professional standards somewhat lower than in previous years.
"Heberon Industrial Technologies? The genius like Stark?" Phil asked, surprised.
"That's him," Nick Fury rubbed his forehead.
"Is there something you need me to do?" Phil Coulson asked tentatively. The director wouldn't just call him in to look at these photos, would he? Although this half-finished robot looked pretty cool to him.
"Keep watching." Nick Fury tapped the desk, switching to a virtual desktop, opening a folder, and playing a video. After passing security verification, he gestured for Phil Coulson to continue watching.
The video was short, seemingly taken in a desert. Because it was satellite footage, the image wasn't perfectly clear, but it was still possible to see a metallic Iron Man bursting out of a cave, igniting a nearby ammunition depot with flames before flying into the sky.
Phil Coulson finished watching and turned his gaze to his director.
"Tony Stark," Nick Fury said. "This is the conclusion after integrating all subsequent information. This Iron Man is Tony Stark."
"Then you think the people who kidnapped Tony Stark are related to Heberon Industrial Technologies?" Phil's thoughts momentarily wandered. Could it be that Heberon Industrial's robot technology came from Tony Stark? But Luke Field, the founder of Heberon, had assembled a remarkably excellent mechanical dog in all aspects five years ago. He has the corresponding technical reserves.
Nick gave his subordinate, whose thoughts had strayed, a strange look, and abruptly interrupted his association: "The two have no adversarial relationship!"
"Then what is it?" Agent Phil spread his hands helplessly.
"Focus on Tony Stark. I suspect his kidnapping is related to his internal staff. Understand?" Nick instructed. After all, Tony's father was one of the founders of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Tony himself inherited his father's intelligence as a top genius. He was worth Nick's attention, especially now that he had been wanting to promote a certain plan and select members for it.
"What about Heberon Industrial Technologies?" Phil looked down at the giant robot in the photo. Although the shooting angle wasn't good, it was indeed awe-inspiring.
"Pay attention to them as well." Nick hesitated for a moment before making up his mind. Although he was more inclined towards Tony Stark in his heart, having a backup wasn't bad, either? Moreover, if Luke really showed a talent no less than Tony Stark, then it might be good to win them over and absorb them both into the organization he envisioned.
...
Heberon Industrial Park.
Luke's private laboratory.
White Queen's magnetic voice reminded Luke, who was taking a break from his busy schedule, teasing Rude.
"Master, Miss Ina is about to arrive at the laboratory."
"What happened again?" Luke patted Rude's big head, signaling it to lie down, then stood up, waiting helplessly for Ina's arrival.
"This is absurd!" The metal door had just been opened under White Queen's control when Ina stormed in, bringing a gust of wind with her. She waved her arms forcefully, looking agitated. "The company's security and surveillance systems need to be upgraded again! Enough is enough! Commercial spies are one thing, but why are those intelligence agencies joining in the fun?"
"There's no need to be angry," Luke said calmly. "The commotion inside Stark is much bigger than ours. They can't access any real classified information."
"But photos have leaked! Photos of that big robot in your lab have leaked! This shows that our detection system and confidentiality procedures still have loopholes," Ina said. In her mind, any product in Luke's laboratory that hadn't been publicly revealed was a culmination of his hard work! It was a treasure of the company! Whoever dared to leak their information was her and Heberon's enemy! Someone who needed to eat a prison meal!
"I know," Luke said with a headache. He realized he seemed to have forgotten something, forgotten to inform Ina of his thoughts beforehand. It wasn't his fault; Ina had been so busy these days that he hadn't seen her at all, and he didn't want to use information communication methods with low confidentiality.
"You know?" Ina suddenly paused, narrowing her eyes and staring suspiciously at Luke.
"In fact, those photos were leaked with my permission. Otherwise, when he took the photos, White Queen would have notified security to take him down," Luke said openly.
Hearing this, Ina didn't feel deceived or angry like ordinary people would. Instead, out of trust in Luke, she immediately calmed down and began to associate based on Luke's words. She crossed her arms and looked at Luke. "Do you want to reveal some information to the outside world? Or is this a pre-show for the exposure of your new product? Unexpected exposure, and then you bring out the technology. This kind of publicity is indeed good, but aren't you planning to immediately release these technologies? I remember, the next technologies you're going to conquer and expose are related to information and energy, right?"
"It's not that complicated. That person is a member of an organization called S.H.I.E.L.D. The so-called intelligence organization identity you know should be real, but it should just be a cover. This organization is ubiquitous, and it's normal for companies of our size to be watched and investigated. Maybe this is even a task for them to test the quality of their members," Luke shrugged.
