American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker

#250 - Aftermath, a copy of the loop

The silent universe.

Several dazzling rays of light intersected, dragging out trails of light and flame, slowing down as they approached the edge of a void area. A woman radiating light and several Nova Corps starships in standard Xandar configuration revealed themselves.

Both sides noticed each other's presence and recognized their identities. Upon invitation, the woman radiating light approached the Nova Corps starships.

“Ms. Marvel.” Centurion Rhomann Dey of the Nova Corps gave a slight bow to the woman who had entered the ship and restrained her energy glow. As members of the same camp dedicated to maintaining order and security in the universe, the Nova Corps held Ms. Marvel in some respect.

“Is the information confirmed?” Ms. Marvel, Carol Danvers, walked up and joined Rhomann in looking out the porthole at the void shimmering with a beautiful yet deadly halo.

“What are you referring to?” Rhomann sighed with a wry smile.

“The Black Order, Ronan the Accuser, and a dangerous dimensional void capable of devouring everything.” Carol stated plainly. News of these individuals had spread like wildfire among the major powers in neighboring regions. The vast distances of the universe could not stop the dissemination of such explosive news.

As Ms. Marvel traveled the universe to uphold justice and protect vulnerable planets, she felt compelled to personally verify the accuracy of this information upon hearing it.

If the news was true, it would be terrible news for the universe. Although she disliked Ronan, the warmonger, and Thanos, the brutal tyrant who had slaughtered countless planets, the reality was that if something happened to Ronan and Thanos's subordinates, the Kree Empire and Thanos would likely not let it go.

One was a hegemon of the dark domain, and the other was a top civilization in the universe. If they took any action, it would inevitably bring unpredictable shocks to the stability of the universe.

She had to confirm some things in advance. As a large organization, the Nova Corps was undoubtedly a power that might know more information and be willing to share it with her.

“We don't know much more.” Rhomann smiled wryly again, but he still shared the information he had with Carol.

After listening to Rhomann's account, Carol pondered and asked, “So, the earliest rumors came from a few Ravagers?”

“Yes, we have records of those Ravagers' identities. Some of them have even been imprisoned in the Kyln. But they escaped. They were also involved in this incident, but they were lucky enough to escape.” Rhomann said awkwardly. After all, it was not something to be proud of that the prison used to hold criminals was broken and escaped from.

“Why did they spread this news?” Carol suddenly asked.

“Who knows? Those Ravagers are a bunch of crazy people. Maybe they boasted about it during a celebration after surviving the ordeal.” Rhomann shrugged.

Carol nodded and didn't ask any further, instead focusing her attention on the void outside the porthole. She had a strange feeling that there was some energy within that void that was somewhat familiar to her. And after she had the idea of going in to explore, her danger sense didn't give her any warning.

Could it be that it was safe for her?

This made Carol impulsively want to go in and investigate.

“The situation is not good.” Rhomann suddenly came to the pensive Carol, his expression grave. Carol's thoughts were interrupted, and she looked at Rhomann.

“We scanned and analyzed the void and found that it is constantly devouring and converting surrounding matter and energy. And its range is expanding at a visible rate.” Rhomann said, holding the ship's analysis report of the void.

“Expanding?” Carol closed her eyes and carefully sensed it. The void was indeed expanding, but the extent of its expansion was too insignificant compared to the vastness of the universe, so it was easily overlooked.

“Are you thinking that it might devour the entire universe?” Carol thought Rhomann was a bit of an alarmist. Although the expansion of the void was indeed a potentially huge risk to the universe, it was based on the assumption that its expansion was infinite and that the rate of expansion would exceed the rate of the universe's expansion. Even so, it would take a long and hopeless amount of time to threaten the entire universe.

Unless there were some weak civilizations nearby that had not yet left their home planet, it might be a catastrophe for them. But the desolate area around it was a void, except for the Celestial Head that was being mined as a resource star, there were no so-called planets or matter.

It was possible to prepare for this potential danger, but it was not necessary to be too cautious. The universe was full of all kinds of dangers, and there were countless more dangerous than this void. Before it caused any substantial danger, it was also possible to regard it as a peculiar celestial black hole.

“We know too little about it. We cannot know whether its expansion rate is constant or increases with the ingestion of energy and matter. All of this remains to be observed. But if possible, we would rather find a way to limit it to a certain area so that it cannot expand.” Rhomann said worriedly. He instinctively felt that the void was not a good thing.

“I want to go in and take a look.” Carol suddenly said. Her words surprised Rhomann.

“What did you say?” Rhomann widened his eyes and looked at Carol, who was shining with energy, with a look of surprise.

“I want to go in and take a look.” Carol repeated her words, but this time her tone was more firm. Her instinct told her that she might see or find something very interesting inside.

“But we don't know what the situation is inside the void at all. At least wait until we catch those Ravagers and interrogate them…” Rhomann wanted to stop her.

Carol's body began to float slowly under the support of energy. “We have to hurry. The news has already spread, and since we can get it, other forces will naturally get it too. I must go in and confirm the situation before some troublesome people arrive.”

“There may be danger inside.” Rhomann said.

“My senses have not given me any warning. This means it is safe. At least my senses will give me a warning when I encounter a black hole ahead.” Carol had always been a loner, doing things her own way. Once she decided on something, it was difficult for anyone to change her mind.

Facing the determined Carol, Rhomann could only compromise and step back: “Okay, but we don't know if we can communicate with the outside from the inside. How can we determine your safety?”

“This is a bit of my energy core. It will have a unique frequency that can communicate with me. If communication fails, it will also give corresponding feedback when I encounter danger. If I am trapped or something happens, then you may still be able to save me.” Carol separated a bit of energy from her body, like a firefly floating in the air in front of Rhomann, gently falling on his outstretched palm, dissipating its light, leaving a bit of blue crystal.

After saying that, without waiting for Rhomann to say anything, Carol disappeared from the cabin, and when she reappeared, she was outside the ship, turning into a meteor, dragging a long tail of energy, like a stone, and crashed straight into the void.

As Carol entered the void, her vision suddenly changed, presenting a starry sky with starlight as the background. Countless stars twinkled around her, and she stood on a transparent platform. At the same time, a message was interpreted through her energy frequency and turned into language and text, entering her mind.

“A fragment of a time loop?”

“It actually requires paying equal energy to view and participate?”

“This is a bit like a virtual world. Let me take a look.”

After reading the information that appeared in her mind, Carol raised her eyebrows and muttered to herself with some interest. She was not short of energy. Although she could not compare with the energy accumulation of dimensional gods or top civilizations, as a physique that could absorb various energies, she generally would not lack energy to supply herself. So, according to the requirements, she separated a large group of energy from her body, shining with powerful energy fluctuations, and threw it into the depths of the starry sky.

The energy she released exploded like a supernova in the void, instantly distorting everything seen in her vision, turning the world upside down, and even making her spirit seem to be stretched by time and become dull.

Scenes flashed through Carol's mind, including fragments of the Celestial Head's memories before its death, but more of it was the emptiness of floating in the void of the universe after its death. The final scene came to the Collector, Taneleer Tivan, who brought life and vitality here. He established a collection factory here, collecting all the valuable resources in the Celestial Head and selling them to civilizations and forces in need throughout the universe.

The picture accelerated again under Carol's will. Finally, her vision, like the consciousness of the universe, looked down on the entire void and the Celestial Head from a high position. Finally, her constantly changing vision paused after the appearance of a small starship.

[Your energy is enough for you to browse and move in the data world of the void for three days]

[If you choose the participation mode, depending on the depth of participation and the process, you can spend a certain amount of energy to take away the corresponding spoils from the void world]

[Please do not challenge the loopholes in the void world, unless you want to be trapped here forever, trapped in the cycle of time, like the people here]
