American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker
#193 - Second wave of testing
"So, in the future, will this become a super-powered group like the Inhumans?" Nick compared it to the Inhumans, subconsciously.
"I don't know much about the Inhumans, so I can't say much about that. But I'd rather see them as a new type of profession, not a new race." Tony was frivolous, but he was relatively rigorous when it came to serious matters involving his technology. "The awakening of the Inhumans may not be universal, but most ordinary people can adapt to my technology."
Nick nodded knowingly.
The experiment didn't take long, and the results were as expected. The Nulman brothers successfully integrated the mechanical potion and became two glorious mechanics in Tony's words.
"How do you feel?" Nick couldn't wait to walk up to the two brothers, carefully observing them while asking. He had already noticed that the metal limbs on the Nulman brothers were rapidly receding, transforming back into flesh and blood.
"Feel? Great!" Jason Nulman, the elder of the Nulman brothers, clenched his regained flesh and blood arm, his voice filled with surprise: "I no longer have that feeling of life constantly draining away, full of power, yet feeling weak like a countdown to death."
"That's because you've returned to normal, and that part of your limbs no longer demands energy from you. But they shouldn't have disappeared, just temporarily hidden. Can you still revert to your altered state?" Tony, who had walked over, heard Nulman's words, poked the restored part of his body with the tip of a pen he was holding, glanced at the faces of the Nulman brothers, and asked.
"Yes, I can." Jason Nulman, still the elder brother, replied. Under the gaze of Nick and Tony, he closed his eyes as if sensing something. After a moment, the flesh and blood limbs transformed back into machinery, and his appearance changed from a normal person back to an altered being.
"That drained feeling is back." Jason gasped, seemingly losing more physical strength due to the change in state.
"It seems the problem of alteration hasn't been completely solved, just temporarily hidden." Tony looked at Jason's pale face, and after he reverted to his normal state at his signal, he turned his gaze to Dr. Banner not far away and said.
"No, in a way, you've already solved the problem of the altered!" Nick was very satisfied with this situation! Being able to switch between the two forms of ordinary person and altered being cannot be said to be a disadvantage! It's a complete advantage!
Of course, this advantage depends on the person.
For example, altered beings who are willing to join S.H.I.E.L.D. and work for S.H.I.E.L.D., this form of switching is an advantage!
Altered beings who are unwilling to join S.H.I.E.L.D. or work for any official department, retaining this form is equivalent to hiding a potential danger.
If possible, the best thing for those who only want to live as ordinary people is to eliminate their alteration ability and completely restore them to ordinary people. So Nick didn't mind Tony continuing to spend resources on development. But there was no need to say these things when there were so many people around.
Tony remained noncommittal to Nick's affirmation.
"Besides that, what else do you feel?" Tony asked tirelessly. As the first two experimental subjects to receive the new potion, in addition to the physical data, he wanted to get more information from them to compare with his own.
"Anything else?" The Nulman brothers exchanged glances, and the elder brother Jason swallowed. "I can feel that my altered parts are like an extra organ. Before the alteration, this sense made me feel that the surrounding space was a bit off."
"What was off?" Nick frowned.
"I don't know what the sense of space is like, and I've never had this experience before. But I just feel that this sense allows me to perceive things that I couldn't perceive before. Just like the eyes give me sight, the ears give me hearing, the nose gives me smell, the tongue gives me taste, the skin gives me touch, the new organ gives me something like..." As he said this, Jason frowned, not knowing how to vividly describe the feeling he had felt before.
"A network connection organ!"
A voice suddenly answered for Jason.
"Yes, that's the feeling. I feel like I'm connected to a piece of space through that organ. It seems to be right next to me." Jason nodded repeatedly, looking at Tony Stark who had spoken.
"How do you know what he wanted to say?" Nick's suspicious gaze turned to Tony beside him.
"Because I've experienced his feeling before. Don't forget, I'm not only one of the inventors of the first primitive potion, but also the first person to inject it! At that time, my senses were much stronger and more sensitive than his." Tony pulled up a virtual keyboard screen, tapped on it a few times, and answered casually.
"That space?" Nick tentatively sent a look.
"It's the data dimension." Tony gave the answer. "The dimensional space that Luke cultivated and evolved using the Cosmic Cube. Although I think things may not be that simple, Luke must have done something else in it."
Nick didn't care what Luke did to that data dimension, but he cared about whether the current experiment could give results.
"So, can this experiment be considered a success?" Nick asked.
"If you think this is a success, then it's a success. At least this potion can restore those altered beings to normal, from being short-lived ghosts hanging on energy fluids back to normal people." Tony slowly said the second half of the sentence under the gaze of Nick and the Nulman brothers: "But if you want to ask if the experimental process is over? I can only tell you, half and half."
"What do you mean?" Nick and the others were stunned by Tony.
"It means that if there is no data dimension, then this is the entire experimental process and result. But he has sensed the existence of the data dimension, so there is still a second half. Do you want to continue?" Tony looked at Nick. Nick simply took two steps back, signaling Tony to continue.
"Don't be nervous, it's just a verification. Come, put on this helmet." Tony stretched out his hand, and several metal ingots were instantly transformed into a cloud of black nano-materials. Under the watchful eyes of everyone, this cloud of black instantly formed a silver-white helmet with a high-tech feel in Tony's hand.
Nick's eyes stared blankly at Tony's familiar operation. He had seen the same thing, the same manufacturing scene, on someone else.
"What is this?" The elder brother Jason took the helmet handed over by Tony somewhat blankly. It was slightly heavy in his hand and had a metallic cold touch.
"This is an instrument that can enhance your perception of the data dimension. In layman's terms, you can understand it as a signal amplifier." Tony connected the instrument to energy.
After putting the helmet on his head at Tony's signal, Jason closed his eyes according to Tony's instructions and switched back to the altered form, wholeheartedly perceiving the more obvious dimension. Surprisingly, Jason found that his consciousness seemed to break away from the shackles of his body under the action of the helmet instrument and went to a mysterious space. When he opened his eyes, what he saw was not a piece of darkness wrapped in a face helmet, but a simple panel.
Under his gaze, the panel displayed his various data in a virtual data projection. He even felt that he couldn't understand some of the data at all, but he was strangely able to understand it.
Finally, under the waterfall-like data stream, all his data were comprehensively classified on a panel. After throwing away the various physical data, what Jason focused on was only the panel in front of him.

A ball of azure light suddenly appeared beside Jason's hand. He subconsciously grabbed it and held the ball of light in his palm. A piece of information naturally appeared in his consciousness.
Those were several types of technical drawings, one of which was a device for emitting energy pulses.
He was not a technical S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, but this did not prevent him from having a strong feeling that he could completely create it with his ability according to these drawings.
But if you asked him to describe the technical principles in detail, he would be helpless. This was like his brain understood, his hands could barely keep up, but his ability to express it was lost. In this space, he could understand the drawings and some of the techniques, but that was all. It was like someone had forcibly stuffed this technique into his head. He seemed to understand everything, but in fact, this understanding was entirely based on the giver of the drawings!
However much the other party gave him, he accepted and understood that much. But if he was asked to improve the drawings based on his own understanding, he would be completely clueless and couldn't even find the direction for improvement. He didn't have the technical foundation and accumulation to improve and upgrade the technology of the drawings. All he could do was to replicate the technology of the drawings one-to-one.
Without understanding the technology, he naturally couldn't accurately express them in a systematic way with language. And Jason could clearly perceive that he couldn't share this forcibly stuffed, non-his own technology with others in any way. As a user, not a developer of the technology, he didn't have that permission.
The connection of consciousness in the data space suddenly became much weaker, and a sense of pulling dragged Jason back to reality.
"How is it? Did you receive the technology?" Stark helped Jason, who had regained consciousness, remove the perception helmet and asked with interest.
"What technology?" Nick interrupted impatiently from the side. He realized that Stark's experiment was over. But he didn't know what this experiment had tested or what it had achieved.
"Several technical drawings." Jason rubbed his somewhat hot and swollen head and looked at Tony standing beside him somewhat blankly, asking, "Was that ball of light given to me by Mr. Stark?"
"Of course it was me." Tony transformed the helmet back into several metal ingots and threw them on the table, making a clanging sound. He looked at Jason encouragingly, pointed to the metal ingots, and said to him: "Come, demonstrate. Just use your ability to create them according to the process flow in the drawings in your mind. Believe in yourself, you can do it."
At Tony's urging, Jason stood up from the chair and touched the metal ingots with his mechanical arm while looking at his commander and Stark.
Nick's expression was dazed as he watched the metal ingots in Jason's hands turn into a liquid, and then this liquid separated and shaped into precise parts. These parts floated in the air, and in the next moment, in a way that was pleasing to the eye and extremely ornamental, the parts were pieced together and assembled into a mechanical glove on Jason's hand.
[Energy Pulse Glove]
Part of the technology of the Mark series armor.
"How did you do it?" Nick already felt that the world had become a bit magical. He didn't know that his subordinate had such a skill!
"The craftsmanship is very rough. The performance of the energy pulse glove assembled together is unsatisfactory, the usage time will not be long, and more importantly, it is not stable. Sure enough, expecting a person with no foundation to suddenly become a manufacturing master is still a bit too wishful thinking. Even if I have meticulously stuffed all the manufacturing processes and parts processing requirements into the drawings, it is impossible for people to do it all at once."
Tony stepped forward and knocked on the energy pulse glove made by Jason. With his ability, he only needed one touch to know its craftsmanship and structure. He threw the glove to Jason somewhat disappointedly.
Jason hurriedly took the glove thrown to him by Stark and stood there a little at a loss, not knowing what he should do next.
"Can this glove be used?" Nick's eyes were a little red.
"Of course it can be used, but the power may not be very good." Tony said softly: "Let him exercise his ability well, practice makes perfect. This will help improve his yield rate. If possible, at least let him read some books and take some advanced studies. Don't waste his ability."
"How did you give him the technology? Through that helmet?" Nick began to think carefully.
"That helmet is just an auxiliary tool. What really plays a role is the data dimension! I said it before." Stark corrected Nick's words.
