American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker
#145 - Tranquil Blue
The magician Wang controlled the space, constantly shortening the distance between the five people. Above, Captain Steve had keenly noticed the changes in the surrounding area and discovered the newcomers.
"Are you coming, or am I?" The magician Wang asked Luke one more time before taking action. He had gained a lot of experience recently in dealing with the symptoms of mental will being eroded and influenced by new energy.
"You go ahead." Luke took a step back, eager to witness the magician's solution firsthand. Nick, standing beside him, widened his eyes, equally curious to see.
Captain Steve, distracted in mid-air, had his lapse seized upon by the combat-aware Bloodshadow Frank, who kicked him directly to the ground from above. The blood-red energy unleashed by the explosion collided with the Captain's energy, creating a bowl-shaped energy layer at the point of contact.
"I'm fine!" The Captain, having fallen near everyone's feet, executed a carp-like flip and stood up from the ground. Observing the magician Wang and the others showing signs of action, he cautioned, "Don't get hit by his attacks, or it'll be troublesome!"
Before the magician Wang and the others could respond to the Captain, Bloodshadow Frank in mid-air once again used the mark to teleport, reappearing in front of the Captain. This time, it was with a fist encased in a blood-colored gauntlet, slamming into the Captain's raised shield.

The Captain flew out once more. But he had also created an opportunity for the magician Wang. The magician Wang nimbly stepped forward and struck Bloodshadow Frank's chest with a palm. A near blood-soaked phantom was directly knocked out of him by this palm. Judging from the phantom's figure and face, it was clearly Frank.
Watching the suddenly frozen Bloodshadow Frank, Nick was completely dumbfounded. How was he supposed to learn this? Just a palm strike, and then the other party's mental body, or rather, their soul, was knocked out?
"Crap!" Wang's eyes widened suddenly.
As he struck, Wang could feel a viscous texture. Although he managed to knock the other party's soul out, almost instantly, countless blood-colored threads, with tips like open blood-colored hands, spread out from Bloodshadow Frank's shell. With a seemingly slow but actually swift speed that confused the senses, they grabbed Frank's soul, which had been knocked away by the magician Wang. Then, exerting force together, they actually pulled the soul back into the body before everyone's astonished eyes.
The scene changed so quickly, it was like a movie scene on fast forward.
The magician Wang staggered back two steps, looking at his hand with a blank expression.
"That shouldn't be." The magician Wang judged based on his accumulated experience. This was the most effective and fastest way to curb the erosion of emotional energy and restore consciousness. As long as the filtering ring was placed on the other party's finger while their soul was knocked out, after a moment, the calmed energy would allow them to gradually regain consciousness.
Even if he had only just mastered this profound magic with the new energy and hadn't really learned it well, the scene before him was too far beyond his expectations. At least he had never seen this situation among the out-of-control mages.
Roar!
Bloodshadow Frank regained his movement, and after letting out a beastly, violent roar, his blood-red pupils twisted, staring at Luke and the others who were close at hand.
"I have a bad feeling about this." Nick's heart clenched. He could no longer see any rationality in Bloodshadow Frank's eyes, only the ferocity of a ravenous beast eyeing its prey.
Bang!
Bloodshadow Frank's dagger met a golden energy shield that appeared out of thin air.
Boom!
The instantaneous explosive ripples swept around like a hurricane. The blood-colored energy wave ripples that spread forward seemed to touch a powerful obstacle, colliding with honeycomb shields constructed from hexagons that emerged from the void, protecting the group in a hemispherical shape.
Each hexagonal shield had some complex patterns compared to the bare ones from before. Nick couldn't understand them, but Wang, as the most knowledgeable magician besides the Ancient One and a few others, saw the clues.
"Are you researching magic?" Wang exclaimed in astonishment.
"It's just an unorthodox and immature combination." Luke shook his head.
A deep red ribbon darted out like a snake, and with the help of the Captain, who had caught up again to restrain Bloodshadow Frank, it successfully seized the opportunity to bind the other party's body, wrapping the frenzied figure into a large blood-red dumpling.
The other party struggled fiercely, and the blood-red energy constantly expanded and contracted against the ribbon. Luke could even feel the pressure it was under from the blood-red energy leaking from the gaps in the ribbon.
"Should I try again?" Wang asked Luke hesitantly.
"I'll do it. Let's solve this quickly. I have another study that isn't finished yet." Luke shook his head.
"What are you going to do?" Nick, who was behind him, perked up this time. He was indeed clueless about magical methods and couldn't understand them, but he could more or less understand what Luke was saying, right?
For example, what new equipment was used?
How effective is this equipment? Is it for sale? What's the price?
The next moment, Nick and Wang saw Luke's action. A deep blue gemstone, exuding a sense of profound peace, appeared abruptly in Luke's palm as if by magic.
Luke stepped forward and pressed the gemstone somewhat roughly onto Frank's forehead mark, who was constantly struggling.
Soon, under the surprised gazes of the Captain and the others, Frank's struggling strength gradually weakened, and the amplitude of his struggles also decreased. The blood-red energy that boiled and swirled around his body like blood-colored flames also showed a tamed attitude under the caress of the blue light, surprisingly giving people a sense of tranquility from the initial frenzy.
After about half a minute, although the blood-red energy still covered Frank's body like an energy cloak, everyone on the scene could see that it was still dangerous but no longer had the violent aggressiveness it had before. It was like a volcano that had begun to quiet down after an eruption, and the next eruption was unknown when it would occur.
"What is this?" Nick was simply amazed by this. Luke always seemed to be able to come up with things that made him envious.
"A product of new energy. Another rare emotional force. It's not easy to separate and purify them." Luke got up and explained.
"This is, a force of tranquility? I can feel that it has the ability to suppress other emotions. It can make people calm, rational, and intelligent, and it seems to have other effects?" The magician Wang felt more than Nick. He had already mastered the advanced usage skills of new energy: how to extract the energy he wanted, convert it, and release it in the form of magic. This step was difficult. At least in the entire Supreme Mage lineage, only a handful of people could do what he could, except for the Ancient One.
And even at the same stage, the difference in strength between being able to skillfully control a certain energy and skillfully control multiple energies, switching between them as needed and according to their characteristics, was extremely large.
However, those who had seen various kinds of mental powers among the magicians felt unfamiliar with Luke's blue energy.
"New energy, like emotional power, has opposing and mutually restraining relationships! Tranquil Blue, that's what I call it. Among the many branches of new energy, it's not a common energy. It's a rare quantity. The stronger the emotional fluctuations, the easier it is to collect, so those strong emotions are mostly love, or hate, anger, fear, etc. These forces are currently the most abundant and relatively the easiest to collect. Their destructive power is also top-notch.
They are the foundation of new energy now. But in addition to that, there are some rare and even illusory conceptual forces. They require more sensitive and better equipment to collect and purify. Tranquil Blue is one of the best. It has the function of calming and removing the negative pollution and fanatical influence brought by emotional energy, restoring reason and calmness.
Similarly, it has superior resistance to some enchanting magic, supernatural abilities of mental control, and resistance to consciousness intrusion. As long as you carry such an energy stone made of Tranquil Blue with you, you don't need to worry about any threats from external mental pollution until its energy is exhausted. And when it starts to be consumed, you can instantly understand that there is a mental master or a magician who is good at enchanting magic around you, so you can be vigilant and take targeted measures."
Luke didn't hide anything.
"Of course, its weakness is that it is somewhat disappointing in terms of destructive power and power. Or to put it simply, if we're talking about pure energy destructive power, it's at the bottom of the list. You have to lose something to gain something."
"It's solved just like that?" After listening to Luke's explanation, Nick looked at Frank, who had completely quieted down and was no longer struggling, and asked somewhat unrealistically.
Before, Captain America had entangled and fought against the other party for a long time, and neither could do anything to the other in a short period of time. Later, the mysterious magician Wang took action, and the effect was not satisfactory. When it was Luke's turn, he only took out a so-called Tranquil Blue crystal stone and completely controlled the situation? This kind of success that came so easily after all the hardships made people feel unreal from the bottom of their hearts.
"What did you think it would be? Did you think we would have to fight him for three days and three nights until he was exhausted, or we ran out of ammunition and food before it could end? If it came to that, I wouldn't even come. Because what you need is a strong fighter, not someone who can really solve the problem. Do you think I'm a fighter? If I come, I must have made the corresponding preparations and have a considerable degree of certainty." Luke glanced at Nick sideways.
"Then you said it was so troublesome on the phone." Nick was speechless.
"Is it not troublesome? I was conducting research at the time, and not only did your call interrupt me, but you also wanted me to put down the research I was doing to help deal with the trouble you caused. I even brought the magician Wang over for this. Have you calculated the various experimental losses and the cost of favors? I'll send you a bill later, and remember to sign it." Luke rolled his eyes.
"You still want a bill?" Nick's hand trembled when he heard this. He had already owed Luke a large sum of new currency because of the Mind Ring. He was as poor as a dog now, and Luke, who was rich in new currency, still wanted to send him a bill? They had been working together for so long, and there was no emotion at all?
Luke clearly said, "Look at what you're saying, even close brothers have to settle accounts clearly. You asked me to come and help, I brought people to help you solve the trouble, and you have to make up for my losses or give me some labor fees afterward, right?"
"I thought our relationship would be a close partnership after working together for so long." Nick sighed.
"That's right. If there wasn't this kind of relationship, why would I bother with you? Do you know how busy I am now? How precious is my time? Do you know that even sleeping and resting is a luxury for me now? I was able to put down what I was doing and rush over to help you deal with the trouble at the first time I received the call, which is already a sign of how much I value our cooperative relationship. Otherwise, why would I come? Just because of the little bit of new currency you still have to borrow from me? Do you understand the price of my appearance?" Luke looked like he was taking it for granted.
Nick was speechless in rebuttal. He, who had always liked to freeload, seemed to have always failed on the road to freeloading from Luke. Now he had even been reduced to the point where the other party had become his biggest creditor.
"As expected of the creator of new energy, the magician lineage needs a certain quota allocation for this Tranquil Blue." The magician Wang interjected, seizing the opportunity.
"Of course, in fact, even without me, the Ancient One can extract the corresponding mental energy from it with magical power. After all, her authority is no less than mine, enough for her to discern all the secrets in this power. But in terms of convenience and mass production efficiency, Heberon is better at it. I just need the city's construction period to be faster." Luke also made his request.
The magician Wang pondered for a moment and nodded: "I will ask the Supreme Mage for instructions when I go back."
Nick's eyes were red, and his heart was sour as he watched and listened. Obviously, Luke was now able to make most magicians help him "work", but S.H.I.E.L.D. was still struggling to gain a foothold in this newly established circle of interests. The contrast was too great. The scene in front of him also stimulated Nick, causing the regret in his heart for taking out S.H.I.E.L.D.'s dangerous items to disappear in an instant, and he completely made an unshakable determination.
"Woo woo woo!"
Just when everyone had their own thoughts, a muffled whimper suddenly sounded on the ground. Looking in the direction of the sound, only half of his head was exposed, his mouth was tightly sealed with a ribbon, and Frank, who had regained consciousness and calmness under the influence of Tranquil Blue, was trying his best to make his voice heard, trying to attract Luke's attention.
"You're finally awake, Frank." Nick stepped forward and squatted down, looking at his old friend's eyes, which had faded in blood color and regained their agility and thought, and said with some emotion. He had made up his mind that no matter what, he would earn back all the resources and money invested in this old friend, and even double it.
It's time to send the old buddy a bill for arrears!
At least let the old buddy feel the dire straits he is living in now!
