American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker

#139 - Ancient One, Odin, Revenant

"What about you?" Luke turned his gaze to Tony, who was standing beside him.

"Me? I'm just here to bring Venom back. He's homesick." Tony reached out his hand, and a mass of dark liquid reluctantly separated from his body.

To be honest, he quite enjoyed his time with Tony. At least the guy's brain was to his liking.

But being forced out of Tony Stark's body, Venom was a bit bewildered. Because before leaving, he hadn't gleaned the information that "he was homesick" from the other party's head.

At that time, Tony Stark's mind was filled with thoughts of discussing symbiote material technology with Luke, and showing off his latest unconventional Mark armor – the symbiote armor.

Venom had originally wanted to watch the show, but he didn't expect Tony to suddenly change his mind and throw him out.

"Don't mention it." Luke watched Venom rolling forward on the ground, then expertly climbing onto a high platform, collapsing into a puddle of sludge. He then issued an order to the two of them to leave.

He was indeed short on time right now.

"That's so hurtful." Tony, receiving an eviction notice for the first time, spread his hands awkwardly, his eyes looking towards Nick beside him. However, Nick didn't notice Tony's gaze. Preoccupied, he nodded immediately after receiving Luke's eviction notice and was the first to step out of the laboratory door.

This decisive departure stifled all of Tony's words, and he could only follow behind, depressed, as they left together.

After returning, Nick quickly sent over the equipment used by the suspect. After examining it, Luke gave his conclusion.

"It's been modified." Luke said definitively. He held the tested Beast series wrist device in his hand, turning it over as he continued under Nick's watchful gaze, "Although the modification technique is a bit rough, it must be said that the other party has some technical skill. At least they achieved a certain degree of reverse engineering.

Honestly, to be able to do this in such a short period of time, either the other party has a research genius like Tony under their command, or they have a technologically strong team with a top-notch research laboratory.

I'm more inclined towards the latter, because the modification lacks any commendable aesthetic sense, and it's more like a step-by-step memorization after a brute-force crack. If it were a genius like Tony, I believe they could do better in many places.

Instead of how it is now, breaking through the limitations but being unable to provide the necessary purification. Subtly, the more times you use this modified Beast series equipment, the more likely you are to attract the attention of the Beast and be corroded by its power."

Nick's expression was not good. He couldn't deny that S.H.I.E.L.D. had secretly researched and reverse-engineered these equipment, but those were not put into service, and all possible precautions were taken during the reverse engineering to deal with any accidents.

And the equipment issued to the agents had never been researched or reverse-engineered. Yet Luke was now saying it had been modified!

Nick certainly believed Luke's conclusion, because he had no reason to deceive him.

Then the question was: Who modified it?

Who had the technical ability to modify this equipment?

"You'd better investigate when you get back. If possible, it's best to send all the equipment back to Hebron for a 'check-up', lest your S.H.I.E.L.D. becomes the Beast's S.H.I.E.L.D. without you even knowing it.

An organization that maintains world peace, its members being corroded into leading the charge. Then the mages might have to carry out some kind of purge on you.

As a partner, being directly eliminated by the other party would be too embarrassing." Luke's tone was somewhat gloating, which made Nick's expression even more gloomy.

And the possibility revealed in Luke's words made Nick shudder. He couldn't accept S.H.I.E.L.D. becoming another Hand.

"I will do it." Nick nodded. Although he wasn't in a good mood, he saw this as an opportunity, at least to see how many people that shadowy organization that he couldn't grasp had placed under his command.

Any modified Beast series equipment was a blatant certificate of defection!

Whether it was that hidden organization or that Demon God Beast, they were both untrustworthy.

"If the worst-case scenario really occurs, that is, if there are other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents whose minds have been affected and corroded by the Beast, do those mages have a solution?" Nick asked a question that he considered very important.

"That requires you to ask those mages. I can give you some information that I know, which is that the power of any dimensional demon god's corrosion is like a maggot attached to the bone, and it's difficult to completely remove.

Of course, this statement holds true for those spokespersons who are heavily focused on by the demon gods." Luke still gave his opinion.

"Perhaps I should invite Mage-King over for a visit." Nick sighed. As one of the three parties in the collaboration, he naturally had Mage-King's contact information, and in his observation, Mage-King was a very knowledgeable and steady person, a partner worth trusting in critical moments.

Preoccupied, Nick hurriedly left with the examined Beast series wrist device and its test report, still raising the need for new equipment development to Luke as he left.

Now, even if Nick didn't understand what the power of dimensional demon gods represented, after extracting a lot of relevant information from Mage-King and the current corrosion incident that made him break out in a cold sweat, he had a strong wariness towards the power and items involving these demon gods.

If there was no choice, then Nick certainly wouldn't abandon the Beast series wrist device equipment for fear of choking, at most he would be more demanding and strict in its use and storage.

But there was an alternative now!

However, Nick didn't understand that the new energy wasn't as safe as he imagined.

Luke shook his head and started reading books again.

He had previously made two tubes of Dragon Bone Potion. After Nick took them away, batches of funds and official approvals converged to a new company. The construction of the new city was about to begin.

The design drawings, construction machinery, and other preliminary preparations were all prepared by Hebron. It was precisely because of this high efficiency that Luke now felt that time was a bit tight.

He had to familiarize himself with those materials from various dimensions before construction, and use their characteristics to determine the area they would occupy. As for Nick's request for new equipment?

He could only make him wait a little longer. If it really didn't work, he still had a batch of brand-new Beast series equipment that hadn't been sold yet, and it wasn't impossible to let him deal with it temporarily.

……

Asgard.

The Golden Palace.

"You know, Master Gu Yi, although I am a god of Asgard, the king who rules the Nine Realms, you know exactly how much of that is just for show. Throughout the Nine Realms, there are enemies who are hostile to Asgard, and even within Asgard, there are those who oppose me."

Odin on the throne rubbed his forehead wearily.

Gu Yi didn't rush to respond, she was patiently waiting for Odin to continue.

What Odin said was certainly true, but truths also had to be distinguished. There were indeed many races in the Nine Realms who were not very friendly to the race of Asgard, and some were even engaged in years of war with Asgard.

But the situation was definitely not as precarious as Odin said. Although the elderly Odin had long begun to cultivate his mind and nature, and his style of doing things had become much gentler and more benevolent, this gentleness and benevolence was based on the prosperity and strength of Asgard!

If a race really threatened Asgard, if the kingdom he protected reached a moment of life and death, the old man sitting on the throne who seemed to be full of twilight, would probably pick up his spear in the next moment and become the God of Slaughter that many races feared in his youth.

In Gu Yi's view, the way the other party was saying this now was more about wanting to negotiate terms with her.

Sure enough, Odin was silent for a moment, his expression like he was reminiscing, and he said faintly, "As the King of Asgard, I am willing to reach a cooperation with the Supreme Mage. But I need to put the other partner through a test."

As Odin spoke, he stood up from the throne, holding the divine weapon Gungnir, and walked down the steps step by step. The old man in front of him looked amiable at the moment, but the power-first personality of the past would not be completely changed, but only hidden and buried.

He respected the strong, and believed that Gu Yi, as the Supreme Mage, had the identity and qualifications to cooperate with him, but Odin was not satisfied with the other partner. If the Supreme Mage hadn't insisted, he would have preferred to turn this cooperation into one between him and the Supreme Mage, Asgard and Midgard.

As for the other Midgardian?

Let him be a technology provider, that would be good enough.

Gu Yi knew that this was Odin's condition. She followed Odin to the outside of the Golden Palace, looked at the scenery outside the door, bowed slightly, and signaled Odin to continue.

"When I was young, I was tyrannical and warlike, and wanted to conquer and unify the entire Nine Realms by force. For this reason, I did a lot of wrong things. Once, a cosmic race of unknown origin attacked Asgard, causing considerable losses to us at the time. Therefore, after defeating this race, I imprisoned them in a magical cage with a terrible binding magic.

I thought this would lead to their gradual demise, but what I didn't expect was that they had some kind of special racial ability, and they underwent a collective fusion.

Now, they have lost their race, but have formed some kind of more terrifying fusion form. An entity incarnation composed of the resentment and hatred of hundreds of millions of dead souls within its body.

It can devour emotions such as hatred, fear, and love. As long as there is still hatred in this universe, it can be said that they are immortal.

Now, it has become a huge hidden danger that can threaten Asgard. I will not force that Midgardian partner to be able to defeat it, even I feel a little helpless in the face of it now.

But I will send it to that Midgardian partner. I want to see if he can use his technology to solve this hidden danger of Asgard."

Odin stated his conditions.

In fact, Odin still didn't think that the Midgardian could do this, but he was originally aiming for the Supreme Mage. If something went wrong, then the Supreme Mage would have to clean up the mess for the Midgardian no matter what. Odin was happy to take the opportunity to help, and work with the Supreme Mage to find a way to solve this big trouble that was stuck in his throat once and for all, or at least semi-permanently.
