Alien Knights
Chapter 67 The Sword of Damocles
The night will pass, and the dawn will always come.
When the first ray of sunshine from the east shone into this small town that had experienced a night of horror, it meant that the event that later generations would call the Shouwang Town Tragedy came to an end.
Nearly half of the 1,135 residents in the town died, and the corpses were scattered all over the field. The scene was horrible. In some streets, even every household walked in, and there was no living person in sight.
After the Shouwang Town Tragedy, it took seven days to clean up the corpses and clean up the mess. There is even a shortage of coffins for the victims to bury, and people have to use signboards, tables and chairs to make temporary coffins.
What's more serious than this is that there are less than 100 survivors in the 225-man garrison of Fort Watch; the commander Sir Adams and his four knights have returned to the heavenly father. This is a tragic loss that has never been seen in the hundreds of years since the Fortress was built.
However, there is good news among the bad news.
The barbarians who hadn't invaded the south for several years launched a fierce attack on the fortress on the night of the Shouwang Town Tragedy. Fortunately, Knight Wilder led the remaining defenders, and with the assistance of Father Todd who arrived in time, they repelled the enemy and defended this crucial castle.
After Todd and his party said goodbye to Wilder, they left Fort Watch. Before leaving, he did not forget to keep the beehive parasites that he had cut down, and brought them back to the camp at the foot of the mountain.
Knight Alfonso complied with the provisional agreement made with the priest in the winch room: he and Leslie were not to mention to anyone that Todd was the successor of Sutherland, even including his other two followers; correspondingly, the latter promised to prove the legitimate source of his abilities and resolve the alienation phenomenon of the successor as soon as possible.
After handing over the crystal relic to the Knights of the West Parish, Todd immediately led the team back the same way. Alfonso and his followers did not return to Silver Ring City, but followed him back to Muxi Town.
On the afternoon of his first day back in the town, Todd didn't bother to deal with the pile of official duties, and ignored the residents who asked for arbitration. First, he invited four guests from the Inquisition to visit the laboratory he had just built. From the appearance, the new laboratory is a rather chic three-story building with white walls and red tiles, exquisite and elegant. From the perspective of layout, all functions have been fully considered. The first floor is the laboratory, warehouse and living room; the second floor is the living room, library and terrace; the third floor is the attic and astrology platform.
This small alchemy building was built behind the church in the small town. All the experimental supplies and materials belonging to Todd from the original monastery and Silver Ring City were transported over.
The people in the small town like to call this place the Gospel Alchemy Room.
Among the four people invited, Walton walked in the front excitedly. He was the first to push the door and walked into the laboratory room. There were hundreds of strange-looking alchemy instruments, wooden shelves full of experimental materials, and colorful liquids in the pipes, which made him dizzy and amazed.
Is this the place where the 'Eye of God' was made?
Hearing the short and fat man's question, Todd nodded with a smile.
The knight didn't seem to be very interested in these things, he coughed twice, signaling Todd to get to the point as soon as possible.
Under Leslie's strange eyes, Todd led Alfonso to the back of the laboratory, took off the locked iron box from the shelf, opened it, and took out syringes, microscopes, petri dishes and other equipment. After hiding some key links and giving a simple explanation, from the eyes of the knight, Todd can see that the other party has already believed his words.
While the knight was checking the equipment, Todd suddenly remembered something, and made a strange request to the other party.
Your Excellency Dekavo, I have a request.
Alfonso put down the microscope in his hand and signaled that he was listening.
Todd chose the words: I am the successor of Sutherland, and I have the three abilities of speed, weakness, and see through. Karin has the ability of teleportation, and you already know it. If it is fair and just, should you tell me the four abilities you know?
The knight was a little confused: Father, I don't understand what you mean.
Todd said: I mean, I once heard Leslie say that you and your subordinates are all alien species. To be fair, you should tell me your alien abilities. Isn't this an unwritten rule among alien species?
Alfonso froze, and said later: Uh...that's a little...inappropriate...
Pointing his finger at the equipment in front of him, Todd looked extremely aggrieved: In order to gain your trust, I even told you the biggest secret of me, an alchemist, for free. Can't you make up for my loss a little bit?
The knight thought for a long time, finally sighed deeply, and said slowly: My alien ability is called Dragon Bone. I believe you have seen that there is something like metal bones covering my whole body. They can help me withstand blows and enhance my series of abilities.
Leslie's strange ability is called flame breath. His body can emit flammable gas, which can be ignited when it encounters fire.
Adelina's alien ability is beast language. He can communicate with animals in a simple way, comfort them and obtain information.
Walton's alien ability is 'Eagle Eye', he can zoom in on objects in his field of vision to help him aim and shoot better.
Listening to the knight's introduction, Todd's heart skipped a beat when he heard Walton's ability Eagle Eye, and a genius-like idea suddenly flashed in his mind.
After Alfonso finished talking about the abilities of the four, he asked Todd again: As for the source of the abilities in the body, I believe you are innocent. One more thing, you said before, can prevent the successors from transforming into monsters and help them return to normal. Can this be done?
Putting aside the thoughts in his head for a while, Todd said after thinking for a while: I need to do some experiments, which may take time.
The Iron Knight seemed dissatisfied with this answer: What you lack most now is time. No one knows when the Sutherland relic in your body will explode. I will stay by your side, and once it happens, I will perform my duties.
Todd immediately understood what the words performing duties in the other party's mouth meant.
Thinking that in the days to come, there will be a big sword hanging around his neck, which may cut off his head at any time, and Todd's back is dripping with cold sweat. This is simply a Sword of Damocles hanging above his head.
