Interlude 1. Primordial

When the sea was just starting to form, when the magma that was roaming around made up the new earth,

‘It’ traversed the distant sea of stars and landed on this planet.

I don’t know how I came to this place among many, many planets, but that amazing coincidence between many and many planets gave this planet something special.

The dead planet, Pyros, was a place where the sea was still boiling. The first creatures to settle in such a place shook the earth’s crust and shook the sea, but there was no problem.

There are no living creatures on the earth, so what does it matter if the earth’s crust is destroyed?

There is no life to be swept away by the sea, who knows whether the sea is overflowing or dry!

only one creature. Only the ancient thing, which neither earthquake nor tsunami could harm, floated on the hot sea and worried about his future.

It had neither reason nor intelligence. But there was something worth calling a thought.

There is nothing I can eat here.

He didn’t think with intelligence, but the instinct that everyone has in life drew conclusions.

No organic matter yet existed on the planet Pyros. There were only minerals that could neither hold life nor give birth to it.

The primordial body had the ability to metabolize inorganic matter and turn it into organic matter, but it wasn’t that great. The giant didn’t evolve that way.

In the distant future, the archaeologist Gelier who discovered it for the first time called it primordial, so let’s call it primordial.

The primordial body, using several sense organs, noticed that there was no organic matter on the planet that it could swallow, such as protein.

Energy can be obtained from magma. It can also metabolize nuclear material, so it gained power through nuclear fission by swallowing uranium in the outer core.

However, you can live, but you cannot grow. Naturally, in order to grow, they needed the constituents of the body.

It was difficult to synthesize, which could be obtained as much as a rat’s tail no matter how much lava was swallowed.

Proteins, carbohydrates, nucleic acids, fats…etc. Components of living things, so-called macromolecules.

Primordial bodies were too large and dull to synthesize complex organic molecules in large quantities from inorganic materials.

It searched its instincts and found a solution imprinted in its genes. The primordial body began to scatter some of its cells on the planet.

Its cells, which spread through the hot sea, could not adapt to the environment and died in all likelihood.

But one in a hundred, not one in a thousand,

Even if we become one in ten thousand,

Some cells have adapted to the environment and started to ‘live’.

It obtains energy from the hydrothermal vents on the seabed, catches the surrounding inorganic matter and metabolizes it into organic matter,

As the primordial body had hoped, it mutated into the primordial creature. It is no longer part of the primordial body, but has begun to live as an independent organism.

At first, it was only a handful, but life grows exponentially if the conditions are right.

If one cell divides once every 20 minutes, it becomes 68.7 billion cells in 12 hours. Cells suddenly covered the sea, and some cells advanced to the earth. Some floated in the air.

However, no matter how they change, the fact that the origin of all cells is primordial remains the same.

Some cells swallowed others and became a little more complex,

Some cells died leaving only nucleic acids capable of self-replication, and became viruses. Some evolved to parasitize other cells, and some to eat other cells.

Some went all the way to metabolizing minerals, as their ancestors did. Some cells receive light from the sky and use it as an energy source, making oxygen as a by-product.

That oxygen killed countless primitive cells, but made more cells flourish. The atmosphere has stabilized, the oceans have cooled, the environment has changed, and complex living things have begun to emerge in earnest.

But where there is a beginning, there is also an end.

One day the primordial body woke up. It did not shy away from a well-prepared table while sleeping.

All cells were swallowed by it, unable to overcome its regression instinct. He dedicated all the organic matter he had accumulated to the ancient body. The first mass extinction occurred dramatically and ended dramatically.

Satisfied with the ingestion of organic matter, the primordial body fell asleep, and some cells did not unite and survived.

They flourished again and took over the sea,

It also covered the sky, and this time it evolved even more complex.

Animals and plants started to emerge outside the microbial unit, and things like crabs and snails spread. Occasionally the primordial ones would awaken and devour most of them, but always some left behind. They flourished again and soon filled the fruitful part.

At some point, animals larger than elephants dominated.

At times, sharks several tens of meters tall preyed on larger whales.

The myths of all those creatures were nothing but an empty past with no meaning. They did not record their own history, and, as always, the end was primordial.

However, the cells that continued to evolve chose possibilities that even the primordial body did not foresee.

A creature that is probably the ancestor of a monkey was born by chance with a developed brain. It discovered the use of fire and developed a way to cook meat and spread it to its peers.

As the cost of digesting cooked meat decreased, the tribe evolved to invest that cost in the brain.

This is not an intended evolution. It evolved on the basis of the principle of survival of the fittest, as it was more rational for survival.

At the end of that evolution, the flower called intelligence bloomed. Life that did not have the archaic body and walked the untravelled path began to appear.

‘Why should we unite with that?’

The power to resist the cycle created by the primordial body. A miracle that resists instinct and shines. living beings with intelligence.

Intellectuals are intelligent because they do not live as imprinted in their genes. Some of them resisted the cycle, and the ancients recognized it.

From that point of view, the advent of the intelligent body was only a kind of error.

But it is enough to correct the error. In the next cycle, the so-called harvesters appeared.

Giant creatures that could not be touched by anything on earth, such as their own organs crafted by the ancients, devoured those that resisted. Even so, the light of intellect, once born, did not go out.

Even if civilization perishes, the intellect survives, and so it continues. Even if the intelligent body of one age is extinct, a new species of intelligent creature is born in the next.

“Ahh.”

This dreadful secret was hidden in the deep, deep veil, never revealed,

For the first time, someone peek into this great secret.

“The North Pole… wasn’t a continent.”

The person who discovered that the Arctic, a snowfield larger than the continent, is actually a living organism.

The one who found out that it was nothing more than ice and snow on the creature’s back.

A scholar studying archeology, Gelier realized the surprising fact and shuddered.

The Arctic was not a continent, and even less an ocean. It was a nightmare truth that surpassed all common sense he knew.

In the never-ending battle between the mind and the primordial, or even the endless predation, the mind discovered for the first time who its true enemy was.

It was the first time in countless history, and it was a major event that could have been the prelude to a reversal. But before he could tell everyone this amazing fact, the intellect itself kicked the opportunity.

“Gelli. Why did you kill the princess? He trusted you more than anyone!”

A deep, deep malice and intrigue engulfed Gelier.

The person who planned the terrible conspiracy may have thought that it was a trivial and simple matter of burying one scholar, but in fact, it was a major event that separated history and fate. He unwittingly touched and moved the fate of everyone.

“I will judge you as a traitor to the royal family.”

no. It’s not you who judge.

The scholar who managed to escape returned to the North Pole, determined to take revenge on the world.

Like the primordial body, life came across the sea of stars.

A demon king that existed even before the dragon arrived and left this land.

It was the moment when the ancient demon king, Grimudo, was born.

*****

Once upon a time, a long time ago,

In an era before the beginning of an era,

There was one person who had been humiliated.

By the standards of this era, they would be ancient people.

– But I didn’t.

He was framed, betrayed by his comrades, and abandoned by everyone.

I fell from a high place into the abyss. No one believed him.

When it was later revealed that everything he wore was a lie, one human had already become a demon.

-Are you here to apologize to me? When I wanted so much, you didn’t hold my hand, but now when you reach out and discuss forgiveness and mercy, what should I say?

– Geli. Please, please don’t. It’s all our fault. rather kill us.

-It’s already late. It’s too late. I’m not too It is the end of all of you.

The most promising and greatest scholar.

The archaeologist Gelier returned one day as a demon king. Taking the ancient word for ‘end’ as his name, he used the power of the existence he discovered to destroy civilization.

-Intellect is bondage, thought is malice, thought is betrayal.

The power of a creature that existed before civilization was even born, which he himself called a primordial body.

– Therefore, only when we throw away our thoughts, thoughts, and personality and return to a single beast, man will no longer breed malice and all the tragedies in this world will end. i will make it primordial. Pray for the strength of the mother who gave birth to us all!

All living things come from and return to one ancestor.

The archaeologist took note of that fact, betrayed the intelligent body and turned to the archaeological body’s side. Even though he himself was not aware of that, he became a traitor in the long and long great war called history.

After all, the origin of all cells and nucleic acids in the world is of the ancients, so by applying this fact, we developed a method to turn intelligent bodies into non-intelligent bodies.

The Polymorph Curse, which applied ancient cells, returned all ‘humans’ of that era to beasts. Some became dogs, some became fish.

“Look, this beautiful world. A world without the slightest bit of malice, a savagely honest world!”

The Demon King opened his arms and worshiped the new world he had opened.

When he realized it was nothing more than pointless madness, Grimudo was silent.

As he had hoped, all intellect was annihilated, and the era of beasts that could not even be called barbarism had begun. He succeeded, but all those successes suddenly collapsed one day.

The primordial body has once again recovered its own cells. A catastrophe has come to this world.

It’s something he couldn’t achieve even if he put in a lot of effort. The primordial body just did it lightly by waking up.

As it fell asleep again, its cells spread among the planets that returned to their primordial environment.

They co-evolved with the surviving creatures to create new creatures, and a new intelligence sprouted.

-It wasn’t the first time we…

Grimudo shuddered. I was also desperate.

– We weren’t the last.

He thought he was using the primordial body, but

In fact, it just didn’t interest him at all.

How many civilizations arose on this star, he does not know.

However, once a civilization developed for thousands of years, the years that followed were strong enough to erase the traces of those civilizations.

The most powerful thing in this world, everything collapsed equally before time, and even the ruins faded and faded.

– How many times has this meaningless cycle been repeated? hundreds of millions of years? billions of years? How many creatures have… been born and disappeared? How can this world be so cruel?

Grimudo, an ancient human who called himself the Demon King, was startled by the power of his flesh, not goodness, evil, or anything else.

Self-assured that he had built up unparalleled strength, he was no more than dust compared to the primordial body.

The Demon King knelt down and despaired. From that day on, he did not call himself the Demon King.

Because the Demon King who has lost his purpose is not the Demon Lord,

Only one desperate scholar remains, wandering in the dark.
