Episode 146 – Evacuation

It was near the end of the sun on the first day of training when the combat team returned to their temporary shelter.

It was dark outside, but they were able to return to their temporary shelter without much trouble because they left traces that only they could recognize.

However, tension was evident on the faces of the combat team members who had returned to their temporary shelter.

“Did something happen outside?”

Adalbert asked what had happened to the tense look on the faces of the combat team members.

“Something happened.”

Jason nodded at Adalbert’s question and began to explain what had happened outside so that everyone could understand.

“To explain what happened outside that forced us to return to our makeshift shelter in such a hurry, I must first explain my abilities.”

“Ability?”

“Yes.”

Jason took a moment to catch his breath and continued his story.

“I have a unique ability inherited from my ancestors. It doesn’t have a grand name, but to make it understandable to all, it is the ability to tell me from which direction the crisis is coming when a powerful enemy that I cannot face appears. No see.”

“Is that so? It’s a very mysterious ability.”

“Thanks to this ability, I was able to avoid enemies I would not be able to face, and thanks to it, I have survived to this day. Anyway, that is not the point.”

Jason said his words in a slightly trembling voice as he looked at the people in the support group staring at him.

“While I was using the remains of ruins scattered around here as cover to investigate any threat, I suddenly felt a cold aura running down my spine.”

“You mean…on the spine?”

“Yes. It was something I had never felt before. To be honest, I am still breaking out in a cold sweat with fear.”

Just like Jason said, cold sweat was running down his forehead.

Perhaps it was because of how tense he was, the sensations in his whole body were maximized, and he could even feel the cold sweat running down his forehead.

“Is the ability only detecting monsters, or is it detecting something other than monsters?”

“Can only be detected if it is a natural disaster caused by a monster.”

“I see.”

Adalbert thought for a moment after hearing about Jason’s unique ability.

Most of the monsters in the unexplored area came here after the fall of the Pandeum Empire in the past.

Looking at the shape of the unexplored area, the borders of the El Pario Empire and the Bregern Empire surrounded it without any gaps, and the movement of monsters was completely blocked through the huge mountain range.

A fortress was built in a place that could be said to be the only passage connecting the unexplored land and the land where people lived, so they were wary of monsters approaching day and night.

And, since the exploration of the unexplored area was limited to the entrance, it was also a place where it was not yet known what was at the end.

So, we couldn’t rule out the possibility that somewhere in this land there lived a monster so powerful that Jason’s unique ability would send a strong warning.

But there was something that neither Adalbert nor Jason knew.

Now, the mighty being whose unique ability had caused Jason to warn him had awakened from a long slumber under the influence of Adalbert’s aura.

“What, what?”

As the void devourers finally moved, the cellar they made their makeshift home began to shake and dust began to pour from the ceiling.

Seeing this, the support and combat teams were quite taken aback, and Jason felt a chill run down his spine again.

“Everybody needs to pack up and get out of the makeshift shelter right now!”

Jason believed that the signal was telling him to get out of here, and he told the people in the makeshift shelter to evacuate outside.

Then, the members of each group packed their belongings and hurriedly began to leave the basement, and within two minutes everyone was able to get out of the basement.

“Is the vibration getting worse?”

“……!”

But even after coming out of the basement and up to the ground, the vibrations showed no signs of stopping.

“Yu, the ruins are collapsing!”

“Everyone, get your head together and get out of here!”

Adalbert shouted to his teammates that they had to get out of here at the words of his teammates that the ruins were collapsing.

“That’s right! Let’s all get out of here and move to a wide plain!”

Jason also came up with the idea to move immediately, as if agreeing with Adalbert’s words.

I don’t know if it was because the two leaders agreed or because they saw the ruins slowly starting to crumble, but the members of the support and combat teams followed the leader and took refuge outside the ruins.

“Everybody watch your head!”

“Damn, what’s causing so much dripping?”

Perhaps the vibration got worse and worse, and the movement speed started to slow down.

In addition, the road started to get blocked due to debris falling from the ruins.

“Watch out!”

At that time, the combat team members saw a large boulder falling on one person’s head.

From noble mtl dot com.

“Kyaaak!”

Jiwon Jo’s student, who saw a stone fall on his head, couldn’t move much, perhaps because his legs were weak.

“Huh!”

When Adalbert’s teammates were in danger, he drew out his sword faster than anyone else and swung it at the falling stones on his teammates’ heads.

It was so fast that the wind pressure alone was enough to blow dust around.

As his sword was swung, the stones that fell on the heads of the students belonging to the support team instantly turned into small pieces of stone and scattered them.

“Bar, just…”

“I’ll explain later, so let’s get out of here.”

Jason was shocked to see Adalbert wielding his sword, but now, as Adalbert said, getting out of here was the urgent priority.

As a result, all the students on Adalbert’s team were able to get out of the place they had made temporary shelters.

The huge shaking that shook the earth stopped when they got out of the plain and secured safety.

“Is there a sudden earthquake?”

“Oh, Mr. I almost died.”

After confirming that a certain level of safety was secured, each member of the crew opened their mouths and started talking.

“But why did the earthquake suddenly happen?”

“Isn’t that what the academy did on purpose?”

“Oh, no way.”

“Over there…”

At the time when everyone was arguing over the cause of the earthquake, Jason cautiously approached Adalbert.

Actually, he still couldn’t forget the posture Adalbert had when he swung the sword.

Adalbert’s body movements, in which he fixed himself on the shaking ground with both legs and at the same time sent power from his waist and passed it to the tip of his sword through his hands, were truly those of a skilled swordsman.

And the most important thing was the distance between the sword Adalbert wielded and the stone falling on the head of the support group students.

Obviously, it was out of reach of Adalbert’s sword, but the stones that fell on the heads of the support team students were shattered and scattered in all directions.

Which swordsman would dare to emulate that?

Of the many swordsmen Jason had seen, he had never heard of a person with the skills to do it.

No, there was only one.

A white god of death who is said to have stopped the waves of monsters rushing across the border alone.

If you’re strong enough to block the monster wave alone, destroying objects at a distance that your sword can’t reach would be a piece of cake.

“Oh, Jason. What’s going on?”

So he approached Adalbert and tried to ask him a question.

“Have you ever worked as a mercenary before entering the academy?”

I politely asked Adalbert what his life was like before the academy.

Judging from the fact that he was implicitly asking if he had served as a mercenary, he had the idea that Adalbert might be the same person as the white envoy.

“Hmm…”

Adalbert began to figure out what Jason meant by asking that question.

If he asked such a question with impure intentions, he was ignorant.

“Why do you think so?”

“Because among the mercenaries, the only one with white hair and excellent skills is the white reaper. Also, the vast majority of mercenaries do not work as mercenaries until they have gray hair. That is why white hair is a mercenary. It’s quite noticeable among the crowd.”

In response to Adalbert’s question, Jason confided in what he was thinking.

At first glance, I thought it was a pretty reasonable reason.

However, this alone was not enough to answer that Adalbert was the same person as the White Reaper.

“You might think so. But how big the world is…”

-That’s it.

So Adalbert was about to point out the flawed part of his thinking, when he heard a low, heavy roar from afar.

This sound meant only one thing.

The monster that triggered Jason’s ability appeared.

The Void Eater had revealed itself to this world.
