Chapter 52 Confrontation (1)

Chapter 52 Confrontation ([-])

Washington DC.

When Jack received a call from Barney, his joyful mood dropped to freezing point.

Although he is disappointed with the X-Men, he is full of respect for Professor Que. A person who has devoted his life to the race deserves everyone's admiration.

He really didn't expect that at the moment when the victory was approaching, the professor unexpectedly fell down.

Who did it?

Why can he escape the professor's telepathy?
Too many questions filled Jack's head.

Because of the accidental assassination of the professor, the X-Men were already in a mess, which also caused Jack to have to negotiate with the president with bare hands, which was not easy for Jack.

……

As the President of the United States, Benjamin set a record and suffered two terrorist attacks in just one month, which made him very angry.

Next year is an election year.

How can voters trust a president who cannot even guarantee his own safety.

Therefore, Benjamin's resentment towards the mutant community has reached its peak.

White House chief of staff Rachel pushed open the door of the Oval Office,

"Mr. President, Mr. Jack Murdoch has arrived."

"Jack, who is he? Does he have an appointment?" Benjamin asked suspiciously.

Rachel shook her head helplessly. She reminded, "Jack is the eldest son of John Murdoch, and he intends to enter the political circle. He made an appointment for the office very early."

"Okay, I remembered, what's the matter with him?"

Just when Rachel was about to answer, Benjamin waved his hand again and said casually,

"Forget it, let him come in, I just happen to have a little time."

……

It was the first time for Jack to enter the White House. In his opinion, apart from the political symbolism of this house, it was actually just a relatively large house.

Considering that the White House has a history of more than 200 years, Jack even feels that the White House may not be as good as his own manor from the perspective of residential function.

Secretly complaining in my heart,

"I'm going to live and work here in the future, and I'm really unhappy when I think about it."

Following the guiding staff and walking into the Oval Office, Jack first saw the current President of the United States, Benjamin, with a professional smile.

Benjamin has a resolute face and deep eyes. His excellent appearance once added a lot of points to him in the general election.

Before becoming president, Benjamin was the governor of Texas. His family is a typical American political family, and most of the family members serve as high-ranking officials in the United States.

"Hi Jack, nice to meet you."

Benjamin took the initiative to stand up to meet Jack, showing his friendly side.

Seeing that the president had stood up, Jack quickly trotted a few steps, and held Benjamin's right hand graciously,
"Nice to meet you, Mr. President."

"Don't be so polite, we are schoolmates, and John and I are very good friends."

Benjamin waved his hand to signal Jack to sit down on the opposite chair.

"It's a great honor that we both came from Yale University. In fact, Yale is proud of you. At home, my father often mentioned you, and he always asked me to follow your example."

Jack complimented.

As the interviews progressed, Jack discovered that he was quite good at delivering compliments.

"What's the reason you came to see me? Rachel told me that you are interested in politics and want to work in the White House? I am short of outstanding young people like you."

Benjamin sent out a series of questions, obviously finding it easy to talk to Jack.

Jack smiled and nodded, "I'd be happy to work by your side, but today I have some important things to report to you."

"Appreciate further details."

Benjamin made an expression of being willing to listen. This acting skill is perfect and worth learning.

Jack tried his best to get rid of the messy thoughts in his mind, and organized his language a little bit,

"Actually, I'm here for the mutants. A few days ago, some of my mutant friends disappeared in Canada, and I hired a team to look for them. I accidentally discovered that an American Army Colonel, Stryker, was using the mutant People do live experiments."

Hearing Jack's narration, Benjamin's face slowly became serious.

He waited for Jack to finish before asking seriously,
"Jack, are you a mutant?"

"I'm not, sir." Jack didn't understand what Benjamin meant, so he could only answer truthfully.

Benjamin stood up, holding his seat with his hands, and continued, "I'm currently preparing to implement the Mutant Registration Act. In fact, this will be the focus of my work for half a year."

"Obviously, this is not a wise decision. As far as I know, there are already media reports on the miserable lives of mutants, and public opinion is moving in the direction of sympathy for mutants."

Jack carefully observed the changes in Benjamin's face. He needed to adjust his language at any time according to the emotional changes of the other party.

Benjamin looked suspicious,
"Colonel Stryker is from the Pentagon?"

Jack pretended to be a little embarrassed and replied, "Yes, sir, the information collected from the base shows that this is a secret project of the Pentagon."

"So you are going to make the information you have collected public? To seek justice for mutants? Do you not underestimate the face of an American president and the Pentagon?"

"For the sake of justice, I must do this." Jack replied firmly.

As soon as he finished speaking, Jack caught a trace of anger flashing in the corner of Benjamin's eyes. He knew he couldn't push too fast, so he quickly explained,

"From the evidence I have gathered, these experiments are all Stryker's personal actions. In order to cover up his actions, he has killed several righteous military officers."

The anger on Benjamin's face disappeared, and he smiled knowingly, "You mean this matter has nothing to do with the White House and the Pentagon, and it's entirely Stryker's fault?"

"Yes, sir." Jack replied seriously.

"Jack, you think the Americans are too stupid. If this incident breaks out, the White House and the Pentagon will become the focus of public opinion, which is not good for me."

Benjamin smiled easily. Since Jack knows how to be flexible, then this matter is not too bad. He asked again,
"Where are those documents?"

Seeing this, Jack already understood that the president in front of him was still planning to cover up the matter. This is a normal practice, but Jack was already prepared.

"Mr. President, my mutant friend was furious after seeing the horrors in the base. He has mailed the information to several newspapers."

Benjamin frowned and said coldly,
"Are you trying to tell me that tomorrow the newspapers will be full of scandals about the American Army?"

In Benjamin's words, the White House has been removed, obviously trying to blame the Pentagon.

"Of course not, Mr. President, the Murdoch family has been standing behind you. I have used my relationship to collect the information, but I cannot guarantee that all the information will be collected."

Benjamin chuckled, his eyes were all locked on Jack, as if he wanted to see through Jack.

Jack met the president's cold eyes without hesitation. Before entering the White House, he had predicted such a result.

After a long time, Benjamin sighed,
"John gave birth to a good son, are you really willing to work in the White House?"

Jack felt relieved, knowing that the president had passed this hurdle, he replied loudly,

"Of course I would like to work for you, but we should solve the immediate troubles first."

"Oh, what a good idea you have." Benjamin returned to his smiling face.

"Everything that happened in the base was done by Stryker himself. Mr. President discovered his conspiracy. The FBI rescued the mutant test subjects and destroyed this demon lair."

"Sounds good, but will the Pentagon agree?"

"I have some personal relationships with General Hardaway, and I'll take care of him."

A trace of surprise flashed in the corner of Benjamin's eyes, and he praised loudly,
"The Murdoch son is excellent."

In the confrontation with the president, Jack won.

Ask for collection, ask for recommendation.

These two days the work of the unit is quite busy
