Chapter 64 Let's talk about this book
In another week or two, this book will be on the shelves around February 2.1st.
I haven’t chatted with you all for a long time, so this time I will explain the situation of this book.
Looking back a few months ago, I nervously handed the first draft of this book to the editor. The editor read it for a long time, and then sent me a message in a QQ pop-up window:
What is the expected psychological score?
I hesitated for a moment before typing: "1,000 average subscriptions." I continued writing after 1,000 average subscriptions.
The reason for my hesitation is that although the author has just arrived at Qidian, he is not a newcomer anymore.
Outside, I have achieved some success.
However, any outside author who comes to Qidian will inevitably feel nervous.
In particular, what I wrote was a relatively [special] and less commercialized topic in the online literature market.
Moreover, it is not the type of exciting article I wrote most often in the past.
Can I really do it?
I have been asking myself the same question.
But, I still want to try it.
I am already in my thirties this year, and I have written books worth millions of words and made a lot of money.
However, up to now, I have not written a book that I am truly satisfied with.
I felt [something] inside me that hadn't been fulfilled. I didn't want to wait any longer. So I wrote this book.
What I told the editor was, “I will continue writing if we get an average of 1,000 subscriptions,” but actually it was also to reassure the editor.
One thousand average orders will at least not affect his performance.
But, this is what I actually thought:
Even if no one reads this book, I will continue to write it shamelessly.
I have already finished the outline of the entire book, which is at least two million words long.
I swore to myself childishly, but my heart was as solid as a rock.
But despite this, I was really worried about my expectations for the results.
Even scared.
As a newcomer on Qidian.com, can I really achieve success by writing about a non-commercial topic?
The editor told me: It should be okay, I think it’s pretty good.
But I could read the uncertainty in his tone. He was a little nervous, just like me.
So I said: Then should I publish the book now?
He said: No, we will save the draft and make sure there are no problems with the writing before publishing it.
So we kept the manuscript for two months, and revised it countless times.
When I wrote books before, I always published them as soon as I finished writing them. I have never experienced such a situation.
The manuscript had nearly 200 chapters in total, but more than 100 chapters were deleted and revised. The manuscript of more than 200,000 words was directly scrapped.
Only then did I slowly find the right rhythm.
But it's all worth it.
I am basically satisfied with the current manuscript. Of course, I have also heard many readers say that it is watery, slow, and has some logical problems in some details.
They were right, I did not handle some of the plots very well, they were not so natural and harmonious.
This is my problem, and I know it.
But this is actually an improved draft. The original draft had much bigger problems.
At the same time, because this book is not a fast-paced and refreshing one, I have to write some necessary foreshadowing, foreshadowing and information filling frequently. These contents are not so friendly to read and seem a bit watery, but they are actually necessary and have to be written. And because the update speed of the new book is slow, these problems are magnified.
I wrote down all these questions.
I will keep improving. I will keep working hard.
I want to do the best within my ability.
This I promise, guarantee and swear to my readers.
I will also keep looking at everyone's feedback.
However, as a famous metaphor in the online literature industry says:
When an author writes, he or she is more like a bus, which has a fixed route, than a taxi company, which constantly adjusts its destination according to the destination needs of each reader.
The outline of this book has been basically finalized, and I am confident that as a whole story, it will satisfy everyone in the end.
Appropriately taking in feedback will make our story more complete. However, if I indiscriminately incorporate every feedback into the book, then the needs of each reader will be different, and eventually they will conflict with each other. Some readers will be satisfied, while others will be disappointed, which will eventually affect the overall readability of the book.
Therefore, my many silent readers should not worry. I will write the book according to my plan, stick to what I want to express, and strive to present a complete story of millions of words.
I would also like to point out that this book is actually a slow-burning book.
Being on the new book list is just a pleasant surprise.
I really didn't expect that a newcomer writing a book on such a subject could achieve such good results.
I am really grateful for the support of my readers and brothers and sisters!
In fact, I have really made up my mind to receive a few hundred orders for the first time and to bury my head in writing millions of words.
So, I am really humbled.
On the one hand, I am very grateful to everyone for supporting this book.
On the one hand, I am also worried that the subsequent plot will not satisfy everyone.
I can only work harder and do my best to repay my brothers and sisters for their support.
Please believe that the slow-burning long-term plot that gradually unfolds after hundreds of thousands of words and a million words is what I really want to express. By then, I will definitely be able to bring you more exciting plots and deeper touches!
I hope we can stay together until then!
At the same time, after the book is put on the shelves, the book will also speed up its update speed. As long as the speed is fast enough, some seemingly watery plots (although they are necessary for the plot) will not affect the reading so much.
Of course, all this is based on the premise of ensuring quality.
I think no one would like to subscribe to a book that looks good in the early stages but falls apart in the middle stages.
What I strive to do is to have a beginning and an end, to have long-term development, and to make my writing better and better.
This is what I want to explain to you.
I'm a little nervous, please excuse my grammatical errors.
I will open a separate chapter before the book is put on the shelves to talk to you about some issues that everyone is concerned about.
Thank you! !
