Chapter 793-Baptism
Jimmy had known that Nia would be angry, after all, it was about his own child. However, he had been preparing himself mentally for so long that he had thought it through too clearly. Not to mention how powerful the church was, this world with all kinds of supernatural cases was not safe in itself.

Others may not understand and may not have much feeling, but he himself has experienced danger several times. Judging from the cooperation with the church these times, the exorcist priests of the church are undoubtedly good people. They have done a lot of things and none of them were spread outside. Relatively speaking, they are indifferent to fame and fortune. Otherwise, with their abilities, they would have become top celebrities in society long ago.

No matter what career Liam chooses when he grows up, it will be beneficial for him to have a good relationship with the people in the church. And another point is that part of Jimmy's special abilities are his own, and the other part is given by Black Rainbow. It is still completely unknown whether they will be passed on to Liam.

The little guy might not show any special talents until he reaches adulthood, which means that it will take at least many years for the church to determine Liam's talents. This can almost ensure that he will have the church's attention throughout his adolescence, which will undoubtedly guarantee a considerable degree of safety, both physically and psychologically.

Of course, if he is lucky and the little guy shows special talent when he is young, then there is no doubt that the church will arrange more resources to train him. At least his talent and ability growth will definitely be a little stronger than Jimmy's who figures it out entirely on his own.

Religious belief is very common in American society. Only people like Jimmy, who were already adults when they came here and have been influenced by atheism for many years, would be particularly disgusted with this kind of thing. However, living in this world for a few years has made him understand a lot of things, so of course he is not particularly opposed to it.

It was very difficult to comfort Nia, especially when she was angry. Jimmy repeatedly stated his reasons and brought up what the church had done for them when Nia was in trouble before. Finally, he succeeded in temporarily resolving the crisis.

Nia is not an unreasonable person, but for a woman who has just become a mother, someone is planning to take advantage of her child. This reason alone is enough to make her explode. Fortunately, the reason Jimmy gave was reasonable, and Jimmy also promised to do his best to limit their future actions, which made her calm down temporarily.

Taking care of a child is not an easy job, and Nia does not have as much energy as Jimmy, so she and Jimmy take turns to rest, and even take time to sleep during the day. Jimmy is less troublesome, after all, he has always slept very little, and only three or four hours a day are enough to support the day's energy. It's just that taking care of a child is really tiring, and the key is to be very patient. Jimmy is somewhat hot-tempered, but when he sees the little guy making a fuss, he really loses his temper.

But it wasn't all trouble. Soon after little Liam was born, two elders came to New York from the south. Jimmy called James and Tom to inform them immediately. Although they rarely come to New York, Jimmy has always kept in touch with them by phone. He would call to greet them whenever he had something to do. Now that a child is such a big thing, it is natural to inform them as soon as possible.

James was actually okay towards little Liam, but Tom was more excited. Tom had been alone all these years. His family was killed by some scumbags before, and it took Tom several years to get revenge. Now he is alone, and the people he regards as his sons and nephews have children, which of course means they are his grandchildren.

But little Liam is still too young to be in contact with other people, so even though James and Tom disinfected their hands in the bathroom, they only touched Liam lightly and were unable to pick him up.

Before the child completed the first round of vaccinations, except for Jimmy, Nia, and the nanny who lived at home, everyone else was isolated from Liam's contact, especially those who were often out and about, including Kevin, which made him, as a grandfather, very annoyed.

In fact, in addition to these people, there was another person who was stopped by Jimmy, that was Roland.

Roland came from another world. Even though Jimmy had little knowledge of biology, he was very clear that there were huge differences between species in different worlds. In addition to possible parasites or other small creatures, bacteria and viruses must also be guarded against, so Roland was also excluded. Roland still looked unhappy, but Jimmy successfully persuaded him by stating the facts and reasoning.

Roland successfully traveled to and from the Dark Tower once in the past month or two. However, because he was not sure how long the portal would last and whether the landing point would be wrong, he only brought a few barrels of different types of gasoline and diesel, intending to go back and test the effect of the generator on the ruins portal.

It turned out that what Roland and Jimmy discussed was necessary. Because the fuel of the generator in the Dark Tower world had run out, the portal had no energy to start. Even though Roland entered the number of the opposite portal, he did not actually land in front of the portal, but was offset a lot. However, it was still within a few kilometers around the ruins, which was relatively good. At least he did not need to carry so much oil back and forth.

After returning to the ruins, Roland compared the fuel he brought with him with the fuel stored there. The diesel here was similar to the fuel stored there, so out of intuition, he directly used that barrel of diesel to add to the generator tank and tried to start it. Although it could start normally, there was not much fuel, so it stopped not long after.

Afterwards, he used the remaining oil there to start the generator again, and then started to return after charging the portal. However, this time the harvest was quite great, and he planned to get some more to send over after he returned.

In addition, they discovered that when the energy sources of the portals on both sides were available, the portals could actually remain open continuously. This meant that Roland would not need to carry a bunch of things next time, but could just put them on a cart and push them over.

However, plans cannot keep up with changes. After little Liam was born, Roland's round-trip plan was forced to be terminated, and he could just take a rest here for a while.

Since James and Tom are here, Jimmy definitely won't let them leave immediately. Little Liam's baptism is approaching, and it's just right for them as elders to attend.

The service at the medical center was very good. They notified Nia in advance to take the child to the hospital for examination, and vaccinated Liam as planned. Only after confirming that everything was normal was the time for little Liam's baptism finally confirmed.

On the day of the baptism, Jimmy drove Nia and Liam from Brooklyn to Staten Island early, while the others went on their own. St. Andrew's Cathedral is a well-known location, so there is no need to worry that these people will not be able to find the place.

The church was solemn and dignified. Nia was holding little Liam, and Jimmy was standing beside her, feeling an incomparable joy and sacred atmosphere. It was obvious that Father White and the others had done some work in advance. Jimmy had never had this feeling when he came here before, and he only experienced it when he married Nia.

As for the environment that was even further than this, it was only when Jimi was subjected to an exorcism ritual by Father White and his gang. It was at that time that Jimi completely merged with Black Rainbow.

However, this kind of environment still makes Jimmy somewhat nervous. Father White and the others probably don't just want a solemn environment. They may have been preparing to test little Liam's compatibility with the Holy Light from now on.

Father White had communicated with Jimmy in advance that this ceremony would not have too many ceremonial things like those large-scale baptism ceremonies held by wealthy people. Those things were just decorations to fool certain people. It looked like there were many priests and church staff on the scene, and the church was decorated with various religious objects, which made it seem that the church attached great importance to it, but it was actually of no use.

In a place like St. Andrew's, it's enough to maintain the usual simplicity.

Father White and Father Rodney were wearing white priest robes and shawls, with small white melon hats on their heads, bracelets wrapped around their wrists with a cross hanging below, and each holding an old Bible in their hands. They looked different from usual.

Father Rodney walked up to the altar, Nia and Jimmy held Liam and came to Father Rodney. Father Rodney smiled and looked at the new life in front of him with a solemn and kind look.

Little Liam was very considerate and didn't cry at all, which made Jimmy and the others feel relieved. After all, this was the first time little Liam came to a crowded place since he was born, and no one knew what trouble this little guy would cause. It would be troublesome if he kept crying.

Father Rodney looked around and then began to talk about the meaning and importance of baptism. His voice was gentle and solemn, completely different from his usual self: "Today, we are here not only to celebrate the baptism of a new life, but also because of a deeper commitment. As Liam's godfather, I feel deeply honored and responsible. Today, I not only have to baptize him as a priest, but also be his spiritual guide and guardian throughout his life, guiding him on the path of faith."

He turned to Jimmy and Nia and said gently, "Jimmy and Nia, will you commit to raising Liam in faith and guiding him toward the path of love and light?"

"We do," Jimmy and Nia answered firmly.

Father Rodney continued, “Liam, I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.”

Father Rodney took the baptismal font, carefully scooped holy water from the holy water basin, gently dripped it on Liam's forehead, then made the sign of the cross and continued: "Liam, may you thrive in God's love and protection. May this clear water wash away all your sins and impurities, and make your heart pure like a white lamb."

During the ceremony, Father Rodney recited a prayer, asking God to bless Liam. He gently stroked little Liam's head, conveying a sacred blessing.

After the baptism, Father Rodney gently lifted Liam from Nia's arms, faced the crowd in the church, and said in a softer voice: "As Liam's godfather, I promise that I will be with him on his journey of life, not only as his spiritual guide, but also as his guardian and counselor, whether in faith or in the challenges and joys of life."

When he finished speaking, Nia reached out to take the child back. Father Rodney glanced at little Liam in his arms and suddenly raised his voice again and said:
“As godfather, I will do everything I can to help Liam thrive in his faith and guide him on the path of justice and goodness.”

"As godfather, I pray for God's grace that Liam's heart will always be pure and filled with God's love."

"As godfather, I will do my best to provide Liam with faith instruction and ongoing support so that he can find strength and guidance in his faith. I firmly believe that God's grace and mercy will always protect Liam and guide him to a future full of joy and blessings."

This time, after saying this, Father Rodney put the child back into Nia's arms, but his eyes were still fixed on little Liam, as if he had discovered something.

However, this episode did not affect the ceremony. Father Rodney specially invited everyone to bless Liam and his family: "Let us pray together that God's grace and guidance will always be with Liam."

After the ceremony, Father Rodney walked down the altar and came to Father White. Jimmy and Nia also walked to the others with their children. Everyone surrounded them with laughter and looked carefully at the little one in Nia's arms. Kevin and the others would reach out to tease him. Little Liam seemed to know that this was not a suitable occasion for crying. He giggled without any shyness and even wanted to try to reach out to touch other people's fingers.

Father White and Father Rodney did not return to the lounge, but stood there and looked at Jimmy and the others. After a while, Father White asked softly, "What happened just now?"

Father Rodney put his hand over his mouth and said softly, "When I was holding little Liam just now, I felt something dangerous, as if someone was watching me, but I didn't know what it was. Now it has disappeared, and I didn't detect the source."

Father White didn't say anything, just smiled and nodded slightly.

Father Rodney waved to a young priest next to him, and the young priest took a box from the side and walked over. Father Rodney opened the box and took out a gold cross necklace from it. The necklace was silver, with some letters and patterns on the cross, and a small ruby on the top.

While Jimmy and the others were dispersing, he came over and handed Jimmy the cross necklace as a gift from his godfather to little Liam.

I restructured the baptism content. It had a bit of a Godfather vibe to it before, and when I re-read it this morning, I realized it wasn't quite right, so I re-wrote half of the chapter during lunch time. Sorry for the delay.
